  1. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 21, 2013 Jeep is making some very ambitious goals with the introduction of the new 2014 Cherokee. One of those goals is to produce 250,000 Cherokees annually at Jeep's Toledo, Ohio plant. "We are going to build almost half-a-million cars a year here in Toledo. We are going to do 220,000 with the Wrangler and we are going to do 250,000 on the Cherokee side," said Bruce Baumhower, president of UAW Local 12. Whether Jeep meets this ambitious goal or not with the new Cherokee remains to be seen. Jeep does have a couple things going for

  4. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 28, 2013 Before the Chevrolet Volt was launched, General Motor executives were making some very bold claims on production numbers, throwing numbers like 60,000 or 45,000 Volts a year. Since going into production, GM has sold 7,671 Volts in 2011 and 23,461 in 2012. Combine the Opel and Vauxhall Ampera and then you're looking around 30,000 plug-in vehicles. Now for 2013, General Motors looks to be boosting their production number, albeit more realistic. Bloomberg reports that General Motors is planning to boost production of their p

  6. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 12, 2013 Right now isn't a good time to be Lincoln. Executives recently had to deal with frustrated dealers at National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Expo in Orlando, FL. The frustrations stem from the lack of the new MKZ on dealer lots. Don Chalmers, a Ford and Lincoln dealer from New Mexico tells The Detroit News that with the lack of inventory, they're losing sales from customers who want to buy. Lincoln sales in January were to say in the least, abysmal. Total sales was around 4,191 vehicles, an 18% drop when c

SRT CEO Ralph Gilles tells the Detroit Free Press that Vipers will begin arriving mid-February, about a month and half later than originally promised. "I apologized to our dealer base. We are just holding ourselves to a higher standard," Gilles said. Gilles explained that Chrysler wants to make sure every Viper that rolls of the line is perfect before being shipped out to dealers. 10. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 12, 2012 The Jaguar C-X75 was a unique concept when shown at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, using four electric motors mounted in the wheels and a battery pack to power. Once the batteries were depleted, a pair of gas turbines would take over. Jaguar announced the C-X75 would head into production last year, albeit with some changes. The gas tubines would be dropped for a 1.6L turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder and two electric motors mounted at either end of the vehicle. Combined power output was expected to be 888 HP and 590 lb

A report from Reuters says an agreement between Opel and labor representatives will have two plants, Ruesselsheim and a component plant in Kaiserslautern, to halt production for a total of 20 working days between September and the end of the year. “The European automobile market is declining dramatically. Currently, the Korean automaker has 5% market share in the U.S., but their supply of vehicles is very constrained. How constrained? Using the traditional measure of dealer inventory in "days supply," Hyundai's supply is very very low. At the moment, Hyundai's average at 25-27 days, or less than one month's supply.
