  1. There were serious concerns before the beginning of Tesla's annual shareholders meeting mostly due to CEO Elon Musk's erratic behavior over the past month or so. But Musk was on his best behavior during the meeting, where some big announcements were made. On the business front, Tesla shareholders voted to keep Antonio Gracias, James Murdoch, and Kimbal Musk on the board, despite criticisms from a group of shareholders that they aren't fully independent from Musk. There was also the proposal of splitting the chairman and CEO posts held by Musk, with one investor saying it has become diffic

  4. Found a good read on how Tesla is improving their Tesla 3 battery pack with the use of High Strength Steel in the car to protect a less protected battery pack. Interesting is the floppy battery cover they remove and they reduced weight by building the AC and DC to DC converters into the battery pack making it more efficient and less complex modules located around the auto. https://insideevs.com/what-makes-the-tesla-model-3-battery-pack-so-light/ https://insideevs.com/watch-as-tesla-model-3-battery-is-removed-and-disassembled/ Also interesting read on how Pana
  5. Hits Keep Coming for Tesla 3 Edmunds two years ago put down a $1,000 deposit for the Tesla 3 and bought a $56,000 configured Tesla 3. This car to date has only been able to rack up 5,257 miles in 4 months due a very long list of problems and multiple service calls for what many call cutting edge EV. The goal was to rack up at least 1,700 miles a month in the Tesla 3, so 6,800 miles in 4 months yet the EV is sidelined again awaiting a service call. Edmunds has confirmed that the Tesla 3 met and at other times surpassed the EPA rating for the car. The list of issues is so long that they ha
  6. Tesla's 'production hell' is continuing on and is causing the automaker to shut down the Model 3 assembly line for almost a week. Reuters has learned from two sources that Tesla will stop production of the Model 3 from May 26th to 31st in an effort to fix the various bottlenecks on the line. A Tesla spokesperson declined to comment. Tesla warned that there would be 10 days of temporary shutdowns this quarter in an effort to try and get Model 3 production back up and running smoothly. CEO Elon Musk said the shutdowns would be used to make upgrades to reach a goal of building 5,000 Mod
  7. .Over the weekend, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter and announced a new powerful version of the Model 3. The version according to Musk will cost $78,000 and will be "quicker & with better handling. The last line of Musk's tweet made us chuckle since the current Model 3 warranty doesn't permit racing and autocross. Nevertheless, it has brought up questions as to where the $35,000 Model 3 is. For a number of buyers who plopped down the $1,000 deposit, this is the model they are waiting for. Musk gave a roundabout answer to where the low-priced Model 3 is. There

  9. A new report from the Wall Street Journal reports that engineers at Tesla wanted to put more safeguards for Autopilot to keep drivers attentive to the road, but were rejected by executives. This has been concern within Tesla since the launch of Autopilot and only intensified in 2016 when a Model S crashed into a trailer in Florida. The driver was killed and an investigation revealed that Autopilot was on at the time. After the crash, Tesla brought in suppliers to talk about possible ways to keep a driver's attention on the road. Two ideas mentioned in the report included, Tracking

  11. EV Battery War Heats UP, Asia Versus America! Seems America, Tesla and the department of energy have created the next war. This is the Battery war, Lithium Ion versus Solid State batteries and Japan is behind. As such according to the story in the Nikkei, the Japanese government is funding research by leading Japanese manufacturers to develop what they believe will power the EVs of the future. This group brings together the Japanese Consortium for Lithium Ion Battery Technology and Evaluation Center (Libtec) with Toyota Motor, Nissan Motor, Honda Motor, Panasonic and battery maker GS
  12. Tesla Model 3 Tear Down! Sandy Munro of Munro & Associates is an engineer who specializes in digging into the details of products. He especially is focused on EVs to make sure they are safe, well built and more. The video's below are very interesting to watch, especially the Teardown one where he clearly says some parts are garbage, some are competitive parts and some are worthy of Government required quality built for long life. The guy seems to know his stuff and it is worth time if you are interested in the nuts and bolts of how a Tesla 3 is built to watch.
  13. Tesla Model 3 Shut Down for a Week! Seems Buzzfeed website just released the news that the Tesla 3 will have a week delay just as it had it's first week of 2,500 production built model 3 done. This is according to the CEO to make adjustments in the software of the automation robots to allow for production to increase to hit their stated 5,000 per week goal. Seems more robots was not better than more humans in building the auto's. The story goes on to say workers will have to use a week of PTO or go unpaid as the line is updated. According to the Story, Musk posted on April 1st t
  14. The bad luck is continuing at Tesla. Buzzfeed News reports that Tesla has temporarily shut down the Model 3 production line at the Freemont plant for a week. Employees at Tesla tell Buzzfeed the announcement came suddenly and they have the choice of using vacation days or stay home without pay. Some will get the chance to work in other parts of the plant. A Tesla spokesperson said the shutdown is due to the company wanting to “improve automation.” This is the second time this year that Tesla has shut down the Model 3 production line. 16. Tesla Model Y Nov 2019 According to a story on Autoblog which talked off the record to auto suppliers, Tesla has asked for quoting on supplying parts for the Tesla Y which will go into production Nov 2019 according to the RFI. Tesla Y story Seems Musk thinks he can produce 500,000 auto's off the building in Fremont California which is currently producing the Tesla S, X and 3. Now he wants to add the Y to this when they struggle to build the 3 in sufficient quantities. This makes me wonder how much business will be stolen by SF motors and their EV CUVs that will be built at

Their passion was in auto's and they started Tesla. Both left the company in 2008 but they kept their hands in the EV auto business by starting up new company's. Eberhard went to focus on density of batteries with his new company. 18. Saturday night at Tesla's Fremont, California assembly plant was a sight to behold. "...packed with people Saturday evening as the last hours of the quarter drew to a close. Red couches and tall white tables were set up outside, a DJ played music and a truck selling Vietnamese food was on hand," Bloomberg reports. Was Tesla was celebrating an important milestone? No, the company was using this to try and motivate their workers to get more Model 3s out the door to provide some good news for investors. The past week could be considered one of the worst for the electric car maker.

  20. Tesla and SpaceX Facebook accounts Deleted by Elon Musk Musk Tweets What is Facebook as he has deleted his Tesla and SpaceX accounts. 21. Tesla's production hell seems to be only getting worse than better. Various issues at their Freemont plant has caused the automaker to push back their goal of producing 5,000 Model 3s from late last year to June of this year. This, in turn, has caused some holders of Model 3 reservations to have their order pushed back to 2019. “As we work hard to meet demand, we wanted to let you know that your estimated delivery timing has been adjusted to a slightly later window,” Tesla said in an email to customers. According to Bloomberg, the new date depends on when the reservation was placed a

  24. Tesla Wagon production has begun in UK. Start with a Model S P90 and deconstruct the rear, add a carbon fiber rear addition and lift gate and you have the Tesla Wagon that went from a 26.3 cubic feet of interior space to an SUV-like 33.7 cubic feet, that is 7.4 additional cubic feet of space. This enhanced Wagon added a total of 26 pounds to the finished weight and is still faster than the Mercedes-benz AMG E63 wagon. This whole project came about by a guy who got his Tesla S and then realized his Four legged friends could not be in the far back comfortably. What you end up wit
