Retail sales up 18% for the month

Atlanta - July 3, 2012 - Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars, Cayenne SUVs and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up in the United States, today announced June 2012 sales of 3,002 vehicles. This compares to 2,546 vehicles sold last June, for an increase of 18 percent. For the year, Porsche has sold 16,450 cars in the U.S., a six percent increase over last year's sales of 15,542.

"June was an exciting month for sports car fans as the all-new Boxster models arrived in Porsche dealerships right at the end of the month and joined the showroom next to the all-new 911 coupe and cabriolet models," said PCNA's President and CEO, Detlev von Platen.

Porsche sold 464 Boxster models in June (458 of which were the all-new 2013 Boxster) - a 117 percent increase over June 2011. In addition, Porsche sold 861 new 911 models, a 44 percent increase over June 2011.

Porsche's Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales were 835 for June 2012. Year-to-date, Porsche has sold 4,856 CPO models, a 12 percent increase versus 2011(4,232).

I know I am bigger than the type of person who actually buys and fits into a Porsche. But I still do not find the attraction to this car? Yes they have a rich history of racing and their design language is decades old, but for me most of the porsches are just OK looking and the interior I do not find any better than what I have seen on mid level american cars.

Good thing there are different strokes for each of us as I do not see myself ever buying one and my history is all German, yet I would rather have a MB or BMW or even Audi over a Porsche.

Some people like sports cars, some don't. Porsches are all about the driving experience...they drive great. I wouldn't mind having a late model Boxster, Cayman or 911 at some point..

I love a driving experience, but I do not see Porsche bringing anything better than what I have already gotten out of my friends M3 or an amg version of MB. Guess I just do not get the Porsche thing.

Different strokes indeed...I would love a Cayman, it's perhaps one of my fav. cars on the planet.

And your right on the interior thing, the Verano has a MUCH nicer interior than the Cayman. Not even close, dude, the GM car blows the German car out of the water IMHO.

love the Boxster and cayman.... the 911 is sort of bloated to me these days

Drive one, you'll love it more.

Almost, almost, almost bought a nice Boxster instead of the MINI Cooper S we just bought....

If Caymans come down more in price, I could see owning one in a few years.
