Jaguar Land Rover Reports U.S. Sales for May 2016

  • Jaguar Land Rover U.S. May sales increase 8 percent for best May sales since 2003
  • With nationwide retail launch of XE and F-PACE, Jaguar jumps 80 percent for best sales month since 2006
  • Land Rover May U.S. sales dip 8 percent from record 2015 May sales; up 12 percent year-to-date
(MAHWAH, NJ) - June 1, 2016 -- Jaguar Land Rover today reported May 2016 U.S. sales: Jaguar sales were 2,164 units, an 80 percent increase from 1,204 units in May 2015; Land Rover sales reached 4,950 units, down 8 percent from record sales of 5,382 units in May 2015; Jaguar Land Rover May U.S. sales for both brands hit 7,114 units, an 8 percent increase from 6,586 units in May 2015 and the best month of May since 2003.
 
Year-to-date in 2016, Jaguar Land Rover U.S. sales are up 14 percent to 39,191 sales from 2015.
 
"We are very pleased that through five months of the year, we have increased our business for both Jaguar and Land Rover brands," said Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO, Jaguar Land Rover, North America, LLC. "The Land Rover brand continues its momentum from a record setting 2015, and Jaguar has taken off with the expansion of the Jaguar brand into two dynamic new segments with the Jaguar XE and F-PACE which are now on sale."
 
U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS
 
Land Rover
For the month of May, Land Rover sales hit 4,950 units sold, down 8 percent due to lower retail inventory on certain models. May of 2015 established a new all-time May sales mark of 5,382 for Land Rover in the U.S. Year to date through May, Land Rover is continuing to grow with sales up 12 percent to 30,943 versus 27,669 in 2015.
 
For the month of May, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport were the volume leaders hitting 1,044 and 1,563 units sold, respectively.
Sales of the Discovery Sport hit 630 units, up 43 percent from 440 in 2015.
 
Diesel powered versions of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport hit 358 units, accounting for 15 percent of total Range Rover and Range Rover Sport sales for May.
 
Jaguar
For the month of May, Jaguar sales were 2,164 units, an 80 percent increase from 1,204 units in May 2015; making it the best Jaguar sales month since May 2006.
 
May marked the arrival of Jaguar's two new entry luxury vehicles: the 2017 XE compact luxury sedan, starting at $34,9001, and the 2017 F-PACE compact luxury SUV, starting at $40,990*.
 
With less than a full month's sales, the Jaguar XE hit 598 units sold and the F-PACE hit 666 units sold. In the month of May, Jaguar retailers nationwide held customer launch events to introduce the new generation of Jaguar vehicles.
