The Ford Explorer EV is a European-market-only all-electric crossover, completely separate from the US-market gas-powered Explorer. Built on the Volkswagen MEB platform at Ford's Cologne assembly plant in Germany, it is offered with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain. The Explorer EV never went on sale in North America and shares nothing with the traditional Explorer beyond the nameplate.
