Surprise surprise, Hummer is last. What does surprise me is just how close the Pontiac number of purchases are to Cheverolet, and how many more planned purchases there are for Pontiac.
I'm not surprised at all. Pontiac has more styling and flair than Chevy and always did. A car guy would buy a Pontiac whereas a guy needing a car would buy the Chevy.

1. How many new Saturns have you purchased/leased since the 1998 model year?
2. Do you intend to purchase/lease a new Saturn in the next two model years?
For me:
1. 0
2. no
For me also:
0, No
I'd kill the division. It started out as a low cost car for GM but when the Aura cost more than the Malibu, it doesn't make sense anymore.

Let's see, I had a 98 GP GTP, 01 Aztek, 04 GP GTP and now have a 06 G6 GTP. In my eyes, I don't see purchasing anyhting but a Pontiac.
My next car will either be a G8 GT or Solstice GXP. I've also been checking out some late model Trans Ams and GTOs. I'm thinking a retirement toy when the time comes.

It looks like the grills are an after market item. Maybe too much wire mesh. The older version looks better IMO. The stock grill looks great, though.

Fuel economy for the 1.8s are the same as last year's, except for manual versions on the highway - down from 33 to 32 MPG.
Actually, it's probably the same. The new formulas to rate fuel economy started with the '08s and just about everything is down around 2 mpgs. So, if you see one that equals last year's figures, they're getting better mileage.
Looking head on, the front looks pretty sharp.

The woodish trim adds a nice touch to the interior, but, I'm hoping it's my monitor, the doors and seat backs look dark gray while the seats are brown/beige? That's a no mix for me. Looks odd. And can't GM come up with a different steering wheel? Seems like almost every car they make has that one.

The Vibe replacement will be at the New York show. PLease check the link.

Just in case anyone becomes a complainypants about the interior of the G8....
Point well taken. lol
And I've owned both of them.

If you like truck-like styling for a front of a car, then go for it.
I hope those colors for the exterior aren't correct. Except for the blue and black, the rest are hideous.
All this hype for a stunning new Malibu, I'm still waiting.
Sure, it's better than the current model, but, then again, anything would make an improvement over the current model.
At least they(GM) got Saturn right.
-
So, everybody was saying the new malibu would be a knock out? After seeing this illustration, I hope this is a mistake on the iilistrator's part. The front looks like it came from an Uplander or would better look good on a pick up. Too much going on there. To say that only Pontiac gets reskinned cars is a farse, concidering this Malibu is a clone of an Opel and a Saturn. GM can do better with this one.
-
So, they're rebadging the Vibe as a Chevy. At least the side view looks like a Vibe.
And then they complain when they give Pontiac look alike cars. The bow tie on the front grill looks out of proportion, almost truck like. I'd call this car, Global Warning. lol
-
I agree with that, but it would be nice to be able to have a nice factory selection, since some of us don't have or shouldn't have to spend an extra grand to shell out on aftermarket wheels.
-
I hope they (Pontiac) come up with some decent looking wheels and not just one to choose from. The base wheel for the GTO was kind of bland where as the optional wheel looked alot better. Wheels do alot to personalize your ride. If they want it to compete with BMW, at least let it look the part.

Do the math.
0% = about $1,000/y over the life of the loan on a $25,000 vehicle.
A 72 mo loan at 6% vs 0% has a difference of about $4800.
That IS a big difference.

Gm established Saturn in 1990 to be a value leader car company, maybe it's changing but that's what they started as.uhhhhhh Saturn isn't and won't be GM's "value leader"
[post="64823"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
As an example:
Pontiac Torrent base price 2wd: $22400
Chevy Equinox: $21995
Saturn Vue: $21390
All are based on the same vehicle.
Pontiac G6 base sedan: $18885
Chevy Malibu sedan: $17365
Saturn Ion sedan: $12825
That's value to me. -
I would expect it to be probably $4-5k more than the Solstice GXP because the SKY is basically a fully loaded Solstice to begin with, I think there are only a couple of options (Onstar and 6-disc CD are options, I don't know what else is).
A loaded GXP and loaded Red Line probably wouldn't be that far apart in price though.

Saturn is supposed to be the value leader for GM and now their roadster will cost more than the Pontiac's? I guess the Sky is Saturn's 'Corvette."
I'm sure the GXP will be a winner but I still haven't even seen the regular one out yet on the raod. I'm in New York and most area dealers don't have any yet or have maybe have one for show. All this promise for a great car that came out in August and we're still waiting. -
The steering wheel isn't black, Northstar. It's the same BLUE color as the rest of the Tuxedo Blue two-tone trim interior. Even the interior carpet is the same blue color. It looks great to me.

It looks charcoal to me and by looking at the pix, it does look out of place, even if it's blue. maybe a little wood trim would help. Then again, who would buy a silver car with a tan interior? Maybe, blue, black, maroon or gray tones, but not tan. -
Isn't the stuff on the side called "body cladding"? Wasn't this the stuff the critics panned on Pontiacs? And now they like it. Go figure.

Pontiac has a much storied past to just go away. I easily see at 5 G6s to every Malibu on the road. Chevy can't do it alone.
GM needs Pontiac. Please rethink this, GM!
