    The PT survived....

In addition to the PT Cruiser convertible, Chrysler will announce tomorrow that it will shed the Pacifica wagon, the Crossfire coupe and the Dodge Magnum wagon over the 2008 model year. The aging Pacifica and Crossfire share no common underpinnings with other Chrysler vehicles and need expensive updates, while the slow-selling Magnum will be replaced by the Dodge Journey crossover when it launches next year.

  2. No, right now it looks more like Pontiac: RWD offering aside, it wants to be exciting, but really isn't.

Dodge sells like 5 times more vehicles then Pontiac.

If Dodge somehow = Pontiac then Dodge :pokeowned: Pontiac.

Dodge is like Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda. They are the bread and butter brands and have complete lineups.

People MAY think that Pontiac = exciting except it just does have any vehicles to prove it :AH-HA_wink:

  3. A little birdie landed on my shoulder earlier, he told me the interior's materials are going to get much better pretty soon in that GC. :AH-HA_wink:

    Sounds about right....

We all know that only time will correct what the Germans did to Chrysler.

<----- has nothing against Germans :AH-HA_wink:

  4. Why do I have a feeling that the product portfolio reshuffling will end up with Chrysler offering the juicier/luxurious stuff and Dodge becoming Chrysler's "Chevy"?

What does that mean???? Isn't that how it is now???

    Anyway, got some info....

Magnum stays. Chrysler likes it but it could be transformed into a 300 series model.... a la Europe.

Durango dead. See it in 2010 off of the Grand Cherokee platform (think Trailhawk for the GC vehicle).

Aspen, Pacifica, PT Cruiser all dead. Will be replace by JZ49 or the Chrysler version of the Journey. Also a new vehicle called "Alpine" (not a typo) will also find its way into the Chrysler brand a la next gen. Grand Cherokee platform.

Commander dead. Next gen. Grand Cherokee will take its place.

If sales for the Compass doesn't pick up by 2010...it will be killed with the next gen. PT taking its place. (Not sure about the PT part.....really too early to tell).

    Crossfire dead.

SWB TandC dead (well that is obvious now).

What he took away from this—and his other concept—projects is the need for a complete understanding of the problem, and a group dedicated to finding the right solution. “You create a vocabulary in your head, a brand philosophy for aesthetics, that you apply to the techniques and technologies you see,” he says before ticking off the things necessary to make this happen. “You have to understand the process and what goes on behind the outer surface, and for this you need to work with engineers who can relate to that because you don’t want to have to do their jobs, too.” Together, they must push the boundaries of what’s possible until, “you’re told why it can’t be done, but what is possible.” It is a drive Zimmerman says he can’t help but follow, and one he’s in the midst of applying to his next project, the interior of the 2011 Dodge Charger. “We’ve tried to do more with less,” he says of Chrysler’s current interior offerings, “but now we have management’s total buy-in to really hang it out there.” And it’s the mischievous smile that lets you know he’s not kidding as he says: “The gloves are off.”

  6. How is it not a real station wagon?

What moltar said (excpet for the wood)

needs a taller roof, longer rear, fake wood paneling on the sides.. :)

The styling did it in. Look at most of the Subies and other stations wagons out there. The grill is very truck like and the rear hatch is too low. Not saying that it doesn't look good, just saying that people in the market for a station wagon would really like their space.

The new front clip, a la 08 model, will help in some of the styling department. The rest maybe fixed when the LY's come in 09.

  7. IMO:

    Aspen

    Magnum

    Nitro

    Patriot

    Commander

    RIP

    Funny list :D

No, I can see the Commander and Grand Cherokee becoming one vehicle. So yes, RIP Commander.

Why does the Commander get all of the bad press??? Month after month it OUTSELLS BOTH the Durango and the Aspen. I don't get it????

Next Gen Durango will be based on the Grand Cherokee. So will the Aspen make the grade???? Too early to tell.

Patriot??? Are you serious? 5k units sold last month, it is a vehicle being built in China for China and is a big seller in Europe.

And the Nitro is not going.....Unless the current Liberty beings selling at over 20k units a month. They need the volume from the factory and last month the Nitro sold close to 7k units. One of the better seller for Chrysler.

Magnum....ya it will go or it will change into a REAL station wagon when the LY platform hits.

  8. Ya, one way they increased hp/torque/mpg by adding an extra spark plug to each cylinder. Hello tune up bill. But the Hemi has the same number of spark plugs so it isn't a difference either way now.

Hp numbers will range from 290 to 305. Not bad at all.

If you think that is great.....wait a year to hear what the next 5.7L will be pumping out....hehehe

Also the 6.4L will make its first appearance into the Challenger SRT8. 500hp anyone?

  9. Chrysler made the vehicle because they decided to drop the SWB Caravan....

From this angle, it looks like the last gen minivan.

Chrysler has stated that less then 10% of minivan sales were to the SWB. And those people bought the vehicle not because of the size but because of price.

They thought of the idea of the Journey many years ago and it "was" going to look like....

May of the ideas from the Kahuna concept has found their way onto other vehicle. Canvas top meet the 08 Liberty.

Luckily they decided to go a different direction in terms of styling.

I am not sure if this will compete with any vehicle within the Chrysler group, e.g., the Pacifica is 6-7 inches wider then the Journey.

Outside of the Chrysler group, it could be vehicles like the Edge/Highlander/Rav4/CR-V.

  10. Not bad, but WOW is that some bad gas mileage for a 4-cyl "small" vehicle.

It also seems to keep with the Chrysler theme of cheap looking interiors.

Remember this is 2008 EPA numbers. Compare to the Edge/Highlander/Rav4/CR-V etc and you will see it is on par.

  11. Will Chrysler or Jeep be getting vehicles based on this chassis?

    -RBB

Yes. The code for it is the JZ49 (JC49 is the Journey). A lot of people think that it is going to replace the PT or be called the PT since the PT will be/may be droped and both vehicles, JZ and JC, will be built at the Mexico factory that currently builds the PT.
