I was at that show on Saturday and it was amazing! They had a 2007 Chevy 2500HD with the Duramax available for a test drive. I laid 2 thick strips of rubber over 100 feet long. That diesel is sick!

I just saw the new television ad this morning. I love it. I would've never considered buying a Saturn until now. GM hit the nail right on the f@#king head with their new ad for Saturn. I like what they are doing. KEEP IT UP GM!!!!!!!

April 2007 Monthly Sales for GM: 311,687 units.
April 2007 Monthly Sales for Toyota: 210,457 units.
1st Grade Math: 311,687 - 210,457 = 101,230 units.
I do not post on here hardly at all. I enjoy the bantering of the forums. But looking at these numbers, if GM continues this trend, it is certainly on its way to becoming a profitable automaker once again. With exciting new products on the horizon, and its management getting all of its ducks in a row, GM can pull this off. Hopefully, products are brought faster to market than the expectations out there. It does not matter if GM is #1 right now. It is more important to develop a complete product line and sell cars.
Encouraging news that its fleet sales continue to decline.
I have no love for Toyota. I am not even going to go there. My first 3 lines of my post say enough about that company.

It's time for Toyota to start feeling its oats. Just like any other company growing rapidly, chinks the armor are appearing. It seems Toyota likes to move forward by producing $h! automobiles. Let's hope this momentum keeps up and puts a rather bitter taste in the mouths of all the mindless assholes who buy Toyotas.
Rather vicious but this has been a long time coming.

I'm glad I bought my 2006 Silverado. This thing is hideous.
Since the GMT900s have debuted, every single one has followed the same styling trend. More subtle and softer body lines. While that may work for the Tahoe, Surburban, and Escalade, it does not work for pickup trucks. Take a look at the 2006 Silverado and then look at the 2007 Silverado. There's a HUGE difference. The 2006 Silverado looks more rugged and it looks like it could rip the balls off of any other pickup truck in its class. The 2007 Silverado does not look very appealing with the bulging rear fenders and luggage rack on the roof. The only feature about the 2007 Silverado that I care for is the grille. They could tone down how much chrome is present, but overall the grille is not bad looking.
GM needs to wake up and smell the coffee. The designs are beginning to start the cookie-cutter effect. The Silverado has been the meal ticket since it was introduced. Time has made it the best truck in the world. Given the interior spy shot released a couple of months ago, GM is starting to cater to the yuppies who like luxury interiors & luxury looks at luxury prices. Disagree if you want, but I get rather tired of the critcs who do nothing but bitch and moan that GM's products are not like Toyota's.
For people like me who are emotional about their cars (as Americans USED to be back in the day), this design is a slap in the face.

There is nothing sexier than the power, torque, sound, and smoothness of a GM- manufactured V8. It just purrs. LONG LIVE THE V8!

A good number of people who miss meaningful cars had to switch to trucks for personal transportation. Zeta gives them a reason to get back into a car with the characteristics they desire. RWD with available V8 power and a roomy cabin. That is what I meant in my above post. Plenty of people buy a pickup truck as their primary, or only vehicle, yet do very little hauling except for maybe an occasional trip to the home improvement store.
Pickup trucks are now more refined than ever, Croc. Most even have automatic transmission, power steering and brakes. Some even have (get this) power windows, locks and mirrors... and leather seats! So yeah, pickup trucks are used as personal transportation, and I will venture to say it is at least partly because cars have been castrated with transverse 4 and 6 cylinder engines and FWD. I've made this point before and it still stands.
We still do have intelligent people on here.

This isn't anything serious. It's a bad relay and it costs about $11.00-$12.00 bucks. You won't even have time to grab a cup of stale dealership coffee before the mechanic is done replacing it.
I know it is not serious. I posted it here for informational purposes. Maybe there are some C&G readers who own Colorados/Canyons that have not heard about this yet? That would be amazing.

As long as the dash is well built, functional and user friendly, I don't care what materials are used... It's only the urban cowboy crowd who will care about the little things. After all, the current GM/Chevy trucks still sell well despite the dash, which kind of means that a real truck buyer could care less about "unimportant" interior appointments.
The Contracter who needs a dependable truck that won't break down when on a deadline is not going to care about the plastics quality.
The Rancher/Farmer who needs a truck that can last (or even outlast) their lifetime will likely not give a about the HVAC console being a different colour.
And the lawn technicians and maintenance crews are likely to overlook the upholstry materials as long as the vehicle offers best in class fuel economy and power.
I have no problem with optioning out a truck. But maybe if you are more concerned about wood trim design or CD changer capacity than the box length or trailering, then maybe, just maybe, you should be looking at a different class of vehicle.

I'm glad a bought a 2006 Silverado.
The problem is people have forgotten what trucks are made for. GM got a bad rap for the interiors but they were more function before fashion. I had a 1996 K1500 and the interior was perfect. It was laid out logically & SIMPLE. All that chrome and the layout make it look like the inside of a Monte Carlo. Very sad that these trucks have fell to the yuppies who got bored with their SUVs.
EDIT: I will reserve more detailed judgement when the official pictures are released and I see the interiors of higher trim levels.

Okay, I'm going to be a wet blanket here.
Unless it's a very unique motor like a flat
four turbo (Subaru WRX) I think a four
cylinder engine still carries a certain
stigmata. For me it's huge, but for most
people this side of the pond it's still there.
Maybe not enough to prevent a few Acura
TSXs & RSX from selling but t sure as hell
does not help. But forget all that. The
reason why a premium car with a four
banger is pretty lame in 2006 is that DOD
has made even a medium size V8 get
good fuel economy. And when you DO
want to romp on it, then you'll be burning
tons of fuel in a four banger anyway. It
takes fuel to make HP regardless of how
many cylinders the car has.
F#$% four bangers. I think we need a
21st century buick 215. A super-small
V8, pushrod with DOD. Now that's a
win-win scenario. power, economy &
smoooooothness.

Replacing the 4.3L V6 with the I6 is a bad choice, IMO. I had a 1996 K1500 with a 4.3L V6 and although it was slow, the thing had massive amounts of torque. For the 1996 model year, the 4.3L V6 put out 200HP and 250 LB-FT. of torque. That was one hell of an engine.

The H3 shares the GM twin-cam 3.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine that makes 220 horsepower and comes with a four-speed manual. The EPA rates the combination at 16/19 mpg.
GM doesn't use a 4-speed manual in the H3. I don't even think GM produces a 4-speed manual (maybe in the 70s?). Once again, the media is in such a rush to criticize GM products it can't even get the specs right.

Has the Camaro been confirmed for production??? I can't find that info anywhere.

Good news from Lutz. Given his other statements at the Geneva auto show where "GM is smarter now" it looks as though GM is slowly but surely coming back to profitability. Hopefully, GM continues with the retro-styling of its cars. That's the key to bring GM back to what it once was.

i don't think it will steal sales in any significant manner from ford or chevy, but it will bring a few new sales of people who might not have thought of buying a truck, same as the honda ridgeline. it will continue at the pace it has until now, being barely profitable, but toyota will never exit the market.
Where are the Honda Ridgelines? I live in the NJ and I've seen TWO. That's right. TWO. Toytoa Tundras are hard to come buy here as well. All I see is Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. No matter how hard Japan tries, trucks are the sole property of the Big 3. You can put all the bells and whistles (including hybrid technology) you want on a Japanese truck and it will still not sell (except for tree-hugging & ignorant Americans).
Just look at the spyshots of the GMT900 dualie floating around out there. The f thing is HUGE! I will definitely be saving my pennies for a new Silverado.
So people think that his new Tundra is going to give the Silver-freaking-rado, GM's cash cow, GM's flagship, the single vehicle line that has kept the Chevy name at the top of the charts for God knows how many years now, a run for its money? Please. Not going to happen until GM itself caves. Because unlike the car industry, it doesnt matter what magazines or editors say, or anyone else. In the full size truck market, Toyota is bottom of the barrel. And has a long way to go before they even begin trying to climb to the top.

Well said. NJ highways are notorious for short acceleration lanes. So two options present itself: speed up or die. Anybody who drives a hybrid on NJ roads should be shot.
