  1. Nice review. I think we are going to see big sales for Cadillac again in february. My dealer's inventory has really shrunk.

Now that the 3.6L is confirmed for 2012 they really shouldn't be a reason for someone who is thinking about an SRX to not buy.

I do think the rear legroom could have been better but that was a wheel base and size choice for Cadillac.

Wonder if the 3.6L will offer more than 304hp or if the new designation is just for E85?

  2. I saw a post on the 1st on a cadillac forum that a member had gotten a call from his Caddy dealer telling him that Dec. 18th was the last day to order a Turbo.

    Nobody else confirmed it.

I went on a gm forum and posted in their section where you can suggest a news article and a couple of hours later it was confirmed by a GM source(who knew the worked on New Year's Day?) and posted on their home page that the Turbo was axed.

I don't know why it took so long to get out publically since it was apparently removed from the Order Guide on Dec. 20th.

....But am willing to take at least partial credit for getting this story out.

Perhaps the fact that nobody really cared about the Turbo is why it took so long for the story to make the rounds on the internet?

let's hope the new LFX 3.6L goes into the SRX.

  3. There was a lot of talk last Summer about the 3.6L HF engine getting direct injection and making 305HP in a Cadillac.

    Is this the engine?

I think the Enclave is a home run, but I would be really impressed with a V6 SRX making 305HP with the Driver Level one package available for less than 40K.

Cadillac dropped both the MSRP and invoice of the SRX $3,000 and now the car is

only $36,990. I Invoice is $34,600 now feel that both the Enclave and the SRX are extremely competitive at around 35K.

I feel that if Cadillac will offer me early termination on my SRX next year I will either step into another SRX w/more options or the Enclave depending on the HP levels. And whether i like the new 2007 caddy interior.

  4. I meant that a 750HP viper would dust the vette.  We need more power!

If the Corvette keeps it's lighter weight advantage over the Viper, then a 750hp Viper will probably not beat a 700hp Corvette.
  5. 3 weeks ago they built 2700 HHRs in 1 week. 2 weeks ago they built 3700 in 1 week. Last week they were back down to 2700. If they built 3700 per week that would be 185,000 per year. If they built 2700 per week that would be 135,000 per year. I know they are building a lot to get them in the pipeline but I hope thye don't over do it. Then we will be buying them for $13,000.AndGM will be making 0 dollars on them.
  6. This is just my humble opinion of how the Caddys should be priced. Regular XLR should be $72K not $76K. XLR-V should be $92K not $100K. STS-V should be $72K not $77K. SRX should be $37.9K not $39.9K. Or it should offer power passenger seat as standard, plus lumbar for both front seats. CTS should offer power passenger seat and lumbar as standard. CTS-V should be $51K with all options. I don't have any opinion about the DTS as I don't care one way or the other what happens to it. If Cadillac enacts pricing like this they will not have to give any incentives.
  7. New 6 speed will have a .67 overdrive 6th gear vs. the .70 in the 4 speed and the .75 inthe 5 speed auto. So the 6 speed will lower cruising revs over the 5 speed by 8%. Or 160 rpms at 2000 rpms. The big difference willbe in the 1st gear and each succeeding gear. 1st gear will be in the 4.00 range vs. 3.06 in the 4 speed and around 3.57 in the 5 speed auto. The 6 speed will have over 30% more torque mutliplication in 1st than the 4 speed auto! So they will be able to put a taller rear gear in and still get the same acceleration and that will lower hwy rpms even further. Hopefully they will not lower hwy rpms so much that they start hunting for gears on slight grades.
  8. I'm 6'8" so I know this car was not designed for me. I've read that the windshield header blocks vision for taller drivers. The Miata doesn't have this prob. i suspect that the Solstice has more legroom than the Miata though. I noticed that the Solstice's height is 50.1". Identical in height to my '87 IROC-Z.
  9. As of yesterday an additional 27 '06 SRXs have been produced. That means a grand total of 110 '06 SRXs have been produced. people are beating the doors down for those things. But seriously, I assume that the demand for CTSs and STSs plus the new door sills on the SRX are the reason for the slow production.
  10. Actually no. Only 83 '06 SRX's hav been produced YTD. YTD only about 10,000 SRXs have been made versus 25,000 at the same time period last year. I am hoping the new reduced sills will improve SRX sales.
