  1. I am a big fan of the Colorado's styling myself, expecially a Superior Blue Z71 with painted flaired fenders.........

I have road in a 5 speed 4 cylinder and it shocked me the power it had, I think this is one plus GM really needs to take advantage of.....

The I5 is a great idea just it as the top engine in the truck market now really hurts its appeal. Though I think the I5 would be a very good engine if it and the I4 can get the upgrades that were made on the I6 in the Trailblazer......291hp that just completely embarrases the competition and makes some of the v8's in the full size trucks look weak. I believe that if these same upgrades were made the I5 would have around 240+ hp and the I4 would have a mind numbing 195hp or more.......

Though I think a V8 model is needed but make it apart of a SS package make it available on every configuration of the Colorado with the engine being able to add to preformance of the utility of the truck. Like the Z71 or Z85 package could benefit from the added power and being able to tow mroe than the competition. And for the ZQ8 model it adds power and speed to a sport tuned truck making it a formatible foe to the hot rod trucks that the competitions have out.

  2. Which explains why there will be no Maxx on the next Maliibu.

So let me see if I get this.  Malibu gets a refresh and goes LWB as a true sedan, not 5 door like the Maxx.  Then the EPII Malibu comes out around 2010.  Did I get it right?

I'm not an insider but that sounds logical.............

  3. I think the 'G5' name would make most sense applied to a Vibe replacement.

I would think so since the G4 is the PontiaCobalt

Also its a good thing to hear too we'll get the Vibe away from Toyota stuff and put it on a pretty good compact platform with some decent engines. I am interested to see this car and see what styling direction Pontiac is going to take with this car. If it's styled right and is top notch quality I could see Dodge's Caliber not having a chance in the market......

  4. Whats the use of having the I6 around if its just used in the 360's? Though I think a 6 cylinder option in whatever form would be a plus for the Colorado/Canyon Just I wish we could get the I6 to fit in there.
  5. When I just read the specs on the Turbo Ecotec for the solstice it got me thinking since this motor is probally gonna take over the S/C in the High Preformance it got me wondering when will the engine take over and when what improvements will be made to the car to compensate for age and the preformance gap between a 2.4 and a 2.0 turbo. I figure the Cobalt will get this engine in 2008 then again 2007 is a possibility but I think Chevy will wait 4 years so they can give the Cobalt a refresh. Will the Ecotec line stay the same? Will the 2.2 and 2.4 ecotec still have the same power as they have now when the vehicle is refreshed. How will DI technology coming to the ecotec effect the lesser engines in the Cobalts lineup? Could we see a 210 HP direct injection 2.4 Ecotec? Or could we see the Supercharged version stay around? Also will the base SS model stick around (which I hope does!)? If direct injection is applied across the board I could see all of the ecotec engines at least get 15hp increase...... What are your thoughts and what do you think will happen?
  6. I heard that silver ground effects was an option on the Monte Carlo SS but I have searched around and I can't find anything that says that you can order the bottom ground effects like the previous MC's I was wondering if someone could give me definate info on whether or not it is available and if they can find pics of a 06 SS with these ground effects..........
  7. It looks like a G6 and a 2002 Trans Am mated and thats what came out.........I dunno if this will grow on me and I start to like it more but only thing I like on it is the rims...... Also who says pushrods can't make power...........270hp out of ancient technology aint bad if you ask me.........
  8. I dunno why but the headlights look like a cross between the 03-05 Cavaliers and the 88-94 Cavalier headlights, and along with the grill that kinda makes hte front end look like a modern interpitation of a 90 Cavalier Z24. The blacked out window pillars shows the shape of the greenhouse area and It kinda looks wagon like.........very wierd I kinda wish I didnt notice it now though..... But I like the front end and ground effects on this car. Though the front end is starting to look kinda sabb-ish......
  9. That color is fantastic..........It woudl be awesome if you could order the cobalts ground effects like those shown in silver then you could have a killer 2 tone paint job.........ala 2nd gen Cavalier Z24 and last generation Monte Carlo SS I also love the front end treatment with the smoked lights and the bottom intercooler opening. The only thing I dislike about the car is the rims and I also love the specs on this thing.
  10. So Roush is in bed with GM now in regards to concepts and not just Ford? Iiiiiiiiinteresting.

    [post="36376"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Again thats interesting.............

I like the ground effects they look muscular bottom part of the nose has too big of a opening and if they was doing some sort of cold air induction on the front they should have made the air inlet the shape of the grill and covered it up with some mesh of some sorts.

Other than that I like it....its sleek looking
  11. I thought we was getting rid of the Bowtie bar?................ The headlights look awesome, the foglight area and front half of the fenders looks great too. Grill is god awful.......its too freakin big the Bar is not good looking, the Shape of it is right and has a connection to the 272 concept though the 272 concept had a better porportened gril. I like that the nose has an angle...........but the bottom half of the nose is bad........along with the gaping holes left from the widebody when you have a rear shot of the car and the not rounded fenders with them abruptly squaring off leaving huge gaping pockets.
  12. I remember that...

I think SS would be fine if Chevrolet hadn't watered down the brand so much with it's current SS offerings. I mean, you're going to offer the fastest production Corvette ever that'll trounce 200,000 cars and link it to a $20,000 trim package on a Cobalt (I like that Cobalt, just shouldn't be called SS) and an AWD truck that hardly out runs 2WD versions of competitors mid level trucks???? And that doesn't even consider the "style" factor.

In my opinion, Chevrolet should take this route on the car side:

Since SS has been tarnished just a bit and is already in place AND had a broader original meaning anyway why not use it for your sporty cars and TOP performance sedans (Hopefully most of them WILL be more worthy of the name in a couple of years)

Then, since Z/xx has actually received an image boost via the Z06 and is less common, why not use it for your COUPE ONLY high performance cars. Pretty much just as it was used back in the 60's. You'd have a Zxx as this top 'vette, then the Z06 the the top dog Camaro Z28, then a Lancer/Impreza 'ass whipping' Cobalt coupe named Z-something.

Therefore, the sin of "No Corvette can ever be SS-ed" wouldn't be commited, then the Camaro could rank and file with base, SS and Z28 logically and then on your mainstream cars high performance rare coupes wouldn't be diluted by sharing a broad SS name with WORTHY, but not as barbaric cars.

Thus allowing Chevrolet to continue BUILDING "SS" into a widespread, attainable, credible force while creating a sub division for the Z cars and US car guys.

    :)

I like your thinking! Also I think a AWD Cobalt should be V6 powered and Z24 would fit since GM's original preformance FWD compact used the V6.......though I am biased toward my own car's history though a Turbo V6 would just be killer for a Cobalt.....

Chevy has already used the SS badge on too many vehicles to really slap it on a hi priced exotic vette. I think most of the SS models now are fine just some need improvement and probally will get it........
  13. SS it is then.  Next...

    [post="34221"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

I hope your not serious(if you are implying that it might be called SS)though if you are I am sorry..............Chevy has screwed up their top dog preformance models enuff............First it was Z then SS then Z then SS then Z then SS.......I think names like.....

    ZL1
    GrandSport
    ZR1
    Stingray
    Tigershark

SS would totally screw up chevy's current preformance line layout........

As it is now SS is affordable preformance.........but at a earlier time Z## was affordable preformance too.........but now SS is like the R/T trim on a Dodge or a GT trim on a ford or whatever they use now.....

I just think it wouldnt work if you going to call a preformance model in Corvettes line SS it should probally be the current Z06.........

Then again I could see this turning into a famous CamaroZ28.com forum SS vs. Z28 battle.
