1. I don't think Cadillac needs limos period. I have yet to meet a truly wealthy person who would ever want to ride in a $120,000+ limo...that's just tacky. I think LWB "euro limo" vehicles would be quite appropriate though.

2. See I lumped the FTS into a Sixteen-style vehicle. I agree...not enough of a market. But take large 7er/S-Class competitor DTS, stretch it and upgrade it inside a ton and you get the ultra-lux FTS...that's what I'm getting at.

Limo? Oh dear god no. Let a Zeta Buick spawn a limo. I haven't seen a 7er limo or an S-Class limo...EVER.

3. Width. CTS is much narrower than a Zeta DTS (assuming the dimensions at thread top). STS would gain length on CTS with minimal changes in width (current "problem" with STS). Zeta DTS would be similarly sized to current DTS and therefore be the overall bigger car with stretched FTS.

4. I think Coupe/Sedan Deville has been around since, what... '49?  And Seville only since... '56?  A veritable pup. :AH-HA_wink:

203744

Unless Cadillac used the Seville name as a trim level here and there prior to 1975, 1975 is the year Cadillac launched the Seville as a seperate car line.

The Seville as we know it (Euro-fighter) launched in 75, and it has always had much lower sales than the Deville.

Deville goes back to the late 40s, and Seville for all intents and purposes the mid 70s.

5. I think there is room for all of them in the Cadillac lineup. If the STS were slightly larger and far more luxurious, there would be no internal competition with the CTS. Making a RWD DTS to combat the 7er and S-Class would work in this case. The STS could live on as a LWB CTS as long as it has much improved interior quality and more luxury features. The DTS could then be in the next size class up. A LWB version with even greater luxury could be dubbed FTS.

If Cadillac has decided to axe one of the names, though, my vote is STS since Deville/DTS is inseparable from the Cadillac brand and has been for decades.

6. No, it's OK..."frat-boy" is quite applicable to a lot of people...but not my house :AH-HA_wink:

Most Fraternities tend to have a lot of business, communications and property development/real estate people in it. My house is mostly biochem... :nerd:

7. it's not training...and they aren't doing it...you do it yourself so you know who's calling before you look at the phone...or to perpetuate an inside joke.

I also have some people with the "Silent" ringtone so my phone never rings when they call because I really don't like them but they just won't go away.

8. BV...I just noticed that just about EVERY SINGLE one of your recent posts has the tongue sticking out smilie in them. Why? The post above doesn't even make sense to have it?

9. cause washing cars at a dealership doesn't make you connected.  either does having copies of leaked/exposed internal GM documnent. so instead of quoting for those, why not just post them for all of us to read. that way we can all post like insiders.

I think you need to get off your high horse and chill out. The more you post on this the less respect I have for you.
10. Haste the Day - "Long Way Down" (Goo Goo Dolls cover) is my primary

A few friends have unique ringtones:

"Down," "As You Sleep" and "I Woke Up In A Car" by Something Corporate

"Barbie Girl" by Aqua (if you knew the girl you'd understand)

"Feel Good Inc." Gorillaz

"Do You Think You're Better Off Alone?" Alice DJ

"American Idiot" Green Day

"Can't Wait To Be King" Lion King Soundtrack

"Bite To Break Skin" Senses Fail

and maybe a few others I'm forgetting...and then I have a ton more I just don't even use anymore...

11. The expensive food and trim people are definitely correlated; I bet the food was much better than the crap Americans usually eat. Also, Quebecian French is horrible... native speakers from France have trouble understanding them.

202092

Quebecian French is as different from French French as British and American English are.

French French is all for preserving the language, while Quebecian French is evolving. For example... "C'est un..." is something you will see in France, while Quebecian French has added contractions, making this "C't'un..."

In speaking, this changes "Set uhn" to "Stuhn"

As a result, you can't say it's "horrible" French...it's just different French.

12. croc, I'm disappointed.  you're just figuring this out now?

201884

I didn't know the dimensions of the Statesman. I got this idea when I went on the Holden site to see why everyone was bitching about the Commodore not looking "Pontiac" enough (yea still don't get that) and saw a picture of a Statesman on one of their cycling images...and thought "WOW that front has creases but is also soft...kinda like a DTS should be!"

what exactly is 'stacked horizontal'?

and do you mean just the last gen Deville cause didn't the previous generation have 'side by side' horizontal headlights?

201886

"Stacked horizontal" as in horizontally-aligned units stacked on top of each other to make a blocky, slightly horizontally-rectangled shape.

Examples:

Posted Image

Note how the horizontal lights are stacked on the horizontal amber light.

Posted Image

OK OK technically a 1988 Brougham...but same general styling.

Posted Image

Note how the headlights themselves are stacked on the ambers...

Posted Image

Clearly stacked.

13. You may not be able to see it at that angle, but the Statesman already has one.

201774

But not going across the decklid like the CTS, STS and current DTS. I was just mentioning that as an alteration to the Statesman to make it more of a Cadillac.
14. Awesome chops guys. The only thing I'd change would be the headlights, they need to be more vertical so you don't get a "It looks like a Catera"

I realize that would be hard to do in the chop, but you guys did such great work as is.

201717

I thought about that...BUT my rationale for not doing it was:

1. I don't want all Cadillacs to have the exact same face.

2. Deville's have always had stacked horizontal headlamps (slight horizontal rectangle) than vertical.

3. The current vertical headlamps on the DTS are very poorly-executed.

The only thing I want to revise (and eliminate the "be a better Buick" is the roofline. I say keep the front door part of it as is...but once the passenger door is hit keep the roofline/greenhouse flat.

15. Maybe the point of the car is simply good PR for Buick... It might serve to open the eyes of a few younger buyers (younger than current buyers anyway) so that when Buick does have a more worthy entrant in 1-2 years, they might consider buying.

201655

FOG think about what you just said...now does it make any sense whatsoever that taking the most geriatric Buick, stuffing the GXP and SS engine under its hood, and calling it "Super" would attract any more young buyers than if they gave away a free box of depends with every radio upgrade?
16. hey NOS I just realized we forgot the CHMSL...and we prolly should've modified the greenhouse for the rear seat to flatten the top of the window like the other Caddy's cuz it's just a wee bit too curvy.

But yea...damn that all came out better than I thought it would :)

17. THANKS NOS!!

nice chop but just a warning, it begins to ever so slightly resemble my old Diamante from that angle......at least just the c pillar and a wee bit of the trunk lid

you don't want that

Reg, it also resembles the current DTS...

18. Rust is also caused by the presence of moisture in the air...and unless it's been in Arizona since the 70s it'd had to have experienced that!

I dunno...I'm just shocked it is in such good condition...and wondering who held onto it this long?
