I tried an Acadia and a Yukon. While the Acadia is nice, I liked the Yukon MUCH more. Better looking, better torque, less toy-like. Frankly I would even take a V8 TB over the Acadia, which I think is tailored more towards the women.

Hasn't anybody noticed that the winning design was a rip-off of the Alfa Brera?

Well, I guess the EXT is my kind of mullet.

Once again in English?Overtly racist, humorous but yet non-offensive threads like this
are such a hillariously enjoyable part of C&G. Hip-Hop types
already have a lot of respect for Buick.... 1950s and 1960s
ones anyway. IIRC Queen Latifah had a '70 Skylark on one of
those overhaulin/pimp-my-ride shows. And I KNOW I've seen a
few Buick Lowriders in music videos & magazines.
That KRISS-KROSS chop is hillarious!!!
How ironic that about a week ago I discussed that "JUMP" song
with XP & SP and they agreed with me that it should be an 100%
official Tight Whips approved song.
Remember that 1959 Chevy that had the body mounted backwards
on the frame was was driven across the Golden Gate for a
photoshoot with Motor Trend? (?) That's the car they should have
since they wear their clothes backwards.

Calm down people, this is a joke.

No, you're wrong. The Ram is a nice looking truck. The regular cab shortbed looks tough. Overall they are slightly larger, but not much in it. If you think the newer generation of Rams don't look good, it may be because your sense of style is a little bit feminized. I will admit, you don't see too many gay males or women driving Rams.It sits up real high, yet has less ground clearance than GM and Ford's trucks, meaning its a truck meant for poseurs who want to look like they're real men when they drive their Ram 2500 MegaCab to their white collar job in an office park.
Plus, have you ever seen a shortbed single-cab Ram? It looks hillarious, especially compared with the honest-to-goodness good-looking '94 Ram.
The Mega Cab makes a lot of sense; full sized bed, full sized stretch-out room in the interior. You don't like it, don't buy it. For me, my Silverado extended cab suits my needs so that's what I bought.

You're changing your statement. You initially stated that manual trans was a requirement, now you're saying it's a preference for many serious off-roaders. Well, auto trans is also a preference for many serious off-roaders.

I think GM did a great job with these. I particularly like the lower spec "work truck" dash and the wide opening rear doors on the x-cab. It's too bad they don't offer quadsteer, otherwise I would trade my '03.
-
Off-roaf driving does not in anyway whatsoever require a manual tranny. Having a clutch is a handicap in many off-road situations.

I would like to pat myself on the back for buying 100 shares when it was at $18 or so, but then again, I already owned another 100 that I bought at $45...
-
I think they look great. The only reason I won't be in a hurry to trade my '03 Silverado is the lack of Quadrasteer on the new ones (I am one of the few who bought that option, and don't want to give it up).
I predict that Ford's reign as king of full sized sales will be over shortly.

I said the Charger, not the 300, was WAY better looking than the Lucerne, which it is. The Lucerne is timid and uninspired. They even stole the rear end from a Passat! Talk about a lack of confidence. The Charger is distinctive and confident in a good way. The 300 is not my cup of tea, it looks kind of odd in profile. You evidently like bombastic styling. All the crap that is coming out of Chrysler (the 300, the Charger, their trucks) are all pumped up on steroids and will look stupid in just a matter of years...just like the PT Cruiser, and even GM's HHR, look stupid and will look more stupid. The Lucerne is a leap forward for Buick (especially from the last LeSabre) and is beautifully detailed in its exterior (I don't like a few things about the interior). It will look contemporary and tasteful for quite a while.
In fact, isn't it kind of a riot how you can see the big Dodge trucks (some of them with a construction box in the back) and look at the driver and say "Yep." Seems like a certain type of person gravitates to those.
Go Lucerne!
Yes, a certain kind of person gravitates towards a Ram, someone who wants the utility of a truck, something big, safe, and yes, good looking. I am not sure what else you are implying. I considered one in '03 but ended up with a Silverado because I decided I wanted Quadrasteer (and what am amazing feature it is).
-
The Charger is a WAY better looking car then the "melted bar of soap" Lucerne!

I think you are all missing the point. The article seems to me to be sympathetic to Toyota but critical of NHTSA.

You came from owning Corvettes and an E55 and you love the handling and acceleration of the G6? No offense intended, but I am having a hard time believing that a former Vette/E55 owner is going to be impressed by the dynamics of a G6...I've owned my G6 GTP convertible for a week and I just returned from a 700 mile, one day road trip.
This is a great car for $32K!
I love the styling, ergonomics, acceleration and handling.
I've owned much more expensive, high performance cars; for example, Mercedes E55 AMG, Lotus Esprit and several Corvettes. So, I feel I have a basis for comparison.
I think Pontiac has done a great job.

No, they're not. Power windows weigh less. The manual crank assembly weighs more than its powered counterpart.cranks are lighter weight....

That picture is hilarious. Who are those dweebs???They are the kind of morons that think no lock (key hole) = no locking function.

You are forgetting that for many, many, many buyers, a V8 is more than just raw numbers. It is about a sound and a feel that is unique. In short, the V8 is going nowhere.I believe the HP wars are reaching their limits and peaks. The V8 engine is slowly becoming archaic in the passenger vehicle market for that very reason. Modern 4s and 6 have pushed vehicle performance to sports car territory of only a few years ago.
You can only go so fast to 60 mph or the ¼ mile. in real terms. The buff magazines might split hairs over 0 -to-60 times, but the average consumer will not.
For that very reason, the V8 for passenger vehicles may soon be phased out because it no longer matters.
GM had already cancelled the V10 because they could do the same thing with the LSx V8 in the full sized utilities and pickups. The V10 might have made headlines in the press and media but that would be about it. How much longer until a V6 can do exactly what a V8 does as technology progresses further.
With power rating increasing across the board for passenger vehicles of all types and powertrain configurations, how much longer does the V8 have left beyond what a V12 application has today?
Beyond specialty applications and limited edition vehicles, I am finding less and less of purpose for the V8 even in the more or less main stream luxury market.
For some it could be argued that a Hybrid powertrain might be the image powertrain of the future. That seems to be the approach Lexus is taking with their top of the line powertrain offerings.
In the not to distant future, the V8 might be relegated to a novelty status in the industry.
It is reaching the point where naturally aspirated V6s have 300+hp. I am finding less and less of a point of the V8 beyond that applications I mentioned above.
Before readers fly off the handle at what I just suggested. Step away from the computer and just think about what I did write.

Well, he's right about the styling. In fact, I wouldn't even say the car has any "styling" per se. It's just a blob.
