1. There's also a rather pathetic "Everyone likes a good story. But that doesn't make it true. Get the facts!" banner ad going around, that links to a June 1, 2006 GM response to Thomas Friedman, as well as a Who Killed the Electric Car rebuttal, mixed together with "facts" on ethanol and FlexFuel vehicles.

about time
2. the most recent Motor trend just arrived in my mail box. There is an interesting article about the 5th Generation Camaro Convertable. It stated that GM has greenlighted the rag top. Did I miss something I didnt think the car was green lighted period. Although I do believe its being worked on already. Its good news. I just cant wait for this car to be on the lots come on GM.

3. People love a train wreck - it's human nature.  But when you discover Aunt Suzy crushed under the wheels, your attitude changes real quick. If you like your standard of living, you had better hope GM recovers.

Very true, It seems like every car GM produces has sick scrutiny. NO car is perfect GM is on the upswing.
4. I understand we havent seen all the Aura has to give yet but I would like to see, the redline model with the fender flares larger and the center exhaust like the concept car. Also I would like the car to cost around 24 k with the 270 hp GTP drivetrain from the g6. Also some nicer rim choices for the whole model line up I thought the production cars rims sucked. The interior I thought was nice maybe the color schemes could be improved. I will be in the market for a car just like this one I just hope the pricing is reasonable, Mr Lutz said astonishing value now show me that and I will open my check book.

5. :) I just got home from the new york auto show. Now I have been infatuated by the Camaro Concept since I saw it but after actually seeing the car im awestruck. There really is a difference from seeing the pictures and seeing it in person. I asked for Scott Settlemire the girl said I just missed him and he would be there tomorrow. The girl who introduced the car was real informative and even made things interesting with some comments about the car. I was speaking to her after her presentation and I said I believed the car was already being worked on and she winked at me. I know everyone knows the car is a go, but I still like the hints she and other GM people dropped at the show that the car is to be made.

I also have to say, I liked the Chalenger concept but tonight the buzz seemed to be all Camaro. The Chalenger had a few peoples attention but the Camaro seemed to really captivate people. Maybe this will change in the other days of the show who knows . I do think the Camaro is better, its a foward looking design while paying respect to the Camaros great past. They also said it will be priced along with the Mustang, which is good news even if its kind of old news around here anyway. So I now believe we are very close to an official announcement. What a car, so does any one else who saw it agree its even better in person?,,,,,,

Come on GM announce it already....

6. especially how nice they say it is. The only thing that scares me is we heard the same stuff about the new Malibu for years and still no car so I hope it doesnt take forever GM needs it now. However I do agree it would be a great one two punch. The line up should be pretty cool in the next few years. Monte RWD Impala RWD and the Camaro. and in a newly designed Malibu ( soon I hope ) to compete with the Camrys/Altimas of the world, the trucks its changing I just hope people will give them a fair shake

7. Thats great news, if they do it right it will be a big hit. The D.O.D. system and great price point and quality will make it a smash. With the MPG so good i would use it as my daily driver. I really hope its here soon. I honestly believe they will sell a lot of the base models to young girls/woman. If the price they have been saying it will cost is true, I cant see it not being a huge hit for GM. GET HER HERE!!!!
f body basically the same thing....
I would respectfully disagree. A Pontiac engine underhood makes all the difference in the world to legions of fans. Add in mostly unique sheetmetal, interior & suspension and they (1st gen) are not what should be called 'basically the same'.

[post="105507"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

[/quote I think in 82 they were all just GM drivetrain but im not sure, I know the 3 gens were pretty much the same car. Im a Camaro guy but I still dig the TAs good point though
9. I have never had a 'love affair' with the 'maro. I grew up to be a 3rd generation multiple Pontiac owner, and even tho that never included a Firebird, I would prefer a Firebird (esp 1st gen) immensely over a Camaro, which are great cars but far too common for my tastes.
My brother has owned his '68 Firebird for about 10 years now- the F-Body has fantastic lines. About 3 years ago I sat in a '71 T/A for a while one day- even tired & beat it sucked me in with it's appeal; I could own a 2nd gen, too... but again it would have to be a Pontiac over a Chevy.

f body basically the same thing pontiac or chevy still awesome. hopefully the 2 come back to life together Trans am Camaro meant to be
10. Picked up the ring and im about to get engaged in my 69 Camaro. For one its for sentimental reason, but theres more. I figure if we get engaged in the car she will never ask me to sell it, also it increases the chances of her having it restored for me in the future. Its also incentive for me not to cheat because if i did she would burn my dream to the ground or take a bat to it. I plan to set out nextweek on a cruise to where we had our first date and I amgoing to have signs hung on poles along the route a few of them like the old burma shave ads with the last one asking her to marry me. I know its kind of gay but shell dig it. another step in my life the car was there for.
11. Very good article. The dealer mark ups I know cant be stopped but i truly think it hurts GM. I looked in 2004 and it was marked up to 38k at my local Pontiac dealer . On top of it the salesman was a jerk off. Any way I wound up buying a Silverado SS. Loved having it but 10 Miles to the gallon got old. So on A whim I test drove a 2005 GTO. Need less to say the SS was on the Pontiac lot and I drove home my 05 Goat. The look of the car grew on me. I wound up paying 32k for my GTO and I think it was a bargain. The Mustang looks cool but everyone i have spoken to says its kind of slow. Any way to buy a Stang around here the dealers I spoke to wanted around 30 k so a difference of a few grand you get a very fast car 400/400 IRS comfy interior. I think mechanically its far superior in its stock form to the Stang in stock form. I do wish more people would drive it they would be impressed. I agree about GM dropping the ball on advertising. I do believe it was called GTO it would have done much better. Maybe if it was the new Grand Prix or a Tempest, who knows. I honestly Love my car.

12. My gut tells me it will be here sooner than 2010, I honestly believe, mid 2007 to at least order the production car, wishfull thinking I guess. Scott Settlemire said not to believe the things you read in the media. Last time I doubted F bod father I saw him on American Muscle car. So ill take his word on it.

13. at the very least it shows they are serious and between the dividends and the top salarys being cut they will cut a lot of money from the over head and that has to help. As for the media i think its kind of strange how GMs problems are reported, you dont hear of Mitsubishis problems or DCX advertising full storage lots, I dont know about conspiracy theorys but it the media does hammer GM. Ford might be worse off but the media doesnt report on them as much. IMO ford is in bigger trouble anyway the products they have been producing kind of suck. The new Navigator is real ugly and the 500/fusion is a boring bust. I am pulling for Ford and I hope they get it together. GM and Ford are important to America.

14. True! You must admit that the new GM full size SUV's are not better.............they are MUCH better! Even with a price increase, this SUV is still a much better buy.

I looked at one last week the loaded up LTZ. I was very impressed the interior was light years from the last gen,and if the mpg is whats advertised I honestly cant seethis not being a huge success. I would buy one right now but it is a little out of my price range right now. The fit and finish is impressive. I also think the truck is great looking. Right now im saving for the Camaro, After I get hitched well look to buy the Tahoe for a family car I can enjoy.
15. AWD is just a though as Chrysler has a AWD package for the LX and I am sure for the LY chassie. I have not seen GM say anything on AWD other than the Holden platform is AWD capable. If GM has it where will they fit it in? Because of cost I would not expect Chevy. Now Buick and Pontiac would be in the right price range.

These are not the 60's any more or cheap cars so you might call them muscle cars but in truth they are competing against Audi and BMW lower end cars as sport sedans. The GTO is never going to be a Camaro or Mustang fighter. GM needs it to do it's job in the price range above the Camaro.

I see the GTO being what John Delorean originally invisioned a true Euro coupe/ sedan fighter not a American poser as GM made it. John D tried to get things like radial tires, rear disc brakes, OHC engines and Fuel injection  back in the mid 60's to only be shot down by GM managment. The true GTO he wanted was much more advanced but was just never allowed to bring it to market.

I expect the new car to be more of what he invisioned.  Pontiac for years wanted a to be a Euro car but never fit the bill. But I can see they really have a chance now to be a world car not just another American car.

Lets face it I am a Pontiac guy through and through but they never convinced me the early 70's Grand Am was a Ero fighter as it was claimed. Nice car but not a BMW fighter and I was just a kid then and knew better.

I have a hunch all Pontiacs will be RWD at the very least in the future. I can see the FWD being moved off the line up someday.

Very good point,
