This applies for fbodys, but the concept should be the same.
These conditions must be met (the numbers might not be exact, but they are close enough):
- In first gear
- 35% or less throttle
- Between 15 & 21 mph
- Coolant temp above 170* F
When those conditions are met a solenoid energizes, not allowing the shifter to be put in 2nd or 3rd.
There are a few ways it can be eliminated:
- Unplug the wiring harness from the solenoid. This will throw a DTC
- Insert a 2.2K ohm resistor in the wiring harness
- Pay $30 for a fancy harness plug with a resistor in it
- Disable it with PCM tuning software

Excellent choice for a beater.
Glad to see the T/A being treated right.
Yeah, I don't think that I could have gotten a better winter car. I really like it a lot, especially the digital instrument panel.
Plus, it sure beats driving the Trans Am in the snow! That sucked big time!

Since the Trans Am has been put away for the last few months, I have been stock piling parts!
As soon as the weather gets a little warmer I will be installing all this good stuff...
- LPP Stainless Steel Longtube Headers
- LS6 Intake
- HPTuners
- NGK TR55 Plugs
- MSD Wires
- Shock Tower Brace
- LC1 Red Face Wideband and Gauge
- Knock Sensors & Harness
- New Gaskets and Bolts
Oh Yeah!

I have been really busy lately with school and work so I haven't had the time to post as much as I would like. Anyway, here is a quick update...
Here is how the Trans Am has looked since October -
This has been my winter ride for the last few months. 1991 Buick Riviera - 157k miles, Series 1 3800, I put in a new head unit and speakers, nice cushy seats.

I'm right by Walton and Adams if youre familiar.
Indeed I am. I drive by there everyday on my way to work at Walton & Opdyke.

Yeah it slopes away its pretty cool, and Im located in Rochester Hills MI, a little ways away from Detroit.
Where at? I'm from Shelby Twp.

Thank ya sir!
Come on TA parts...

You can use other types of antifreeze, just don't mix it with the Dexcool. One or the other.

Piston.
Did you have any tuning done to support the extra boost?

It's sitting. In need of a heart transplant.
What happened?

The mid 40's we are supposed to have next week are very welcome after the negative numbers we have been waking up to this week.

I still want BADFNTA (Bad F'in TA) but I dont know if it will get past the SOS.
-
I think that is a little expensive for the miles it has on it and no mods. Stick to your TA pipedream.

On second thought, it sounds and looks amazing by previews, but it expires 8/1/09. I'll keep the XP for now and try to figure out how to get Vista back on here without a CD...
You can download Vista from KU's MSDN Academic Alliance for free.

Everyone keeps saying that the t top car lose a ton of rigidity, but I don't really think that's the case. The hardtop cars have the exact same support under sheet metal roof that the t top cars do. I can see them loosing a little bit of rigidity, but nothing that should cause problems.
Like I said before, the positive outweigh the negatives IMO.
-
I would recommend a Pontiac over a Camaro. Looks better and has a better interior IMO.
-
Some people have problems with them, but I haven't. Every couple months I put dielectric grease around the windows to keep them moist and sealing nicely. They might dribble a little with a power washer directly on it. I think that the positives way outweigh the negatives.
Don't get me wrong, it looks like a nice car, especially if you are in the market for only a v6. LS1 prices have dropped because of the economy, gas prices, and the time of year. I haven't really been paying attention to the used v6 market.

That's all I've got off the top of my head.

Well, as a current owner of an F-Body I have to say that having t tops is one of the single greatest things about the car! Spring and summer nights with the t tops off I can drive around for hours. I think that 6K is still a little pricey, even though it does have moderately low miles. If you watch for a good deal, especially with this time of year and economy, you could be looking at LS1 territory.

I am a big fan of the posters at chevymall.com! I currently have 3 of the Camaro posters framed and hanging in my bedroom, the Ain't No Muscle Like Detroit Muscle, Where Old Woodward Meets New Woodward, and the Only Two Wishes Left. Two of those caught my eye because they were the giant ads that GM had on the side of a building at the Dream Cruise. I really like the slogans on the posters with the classics too, especially the Camaro SS one that says What Would You Expect From a City with a Statue of a Fist?

My 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S:
Did you always have the hood stripes? They look really good!
-
They've decided the 'bird isn't coming back. Should SLP wither and die because of it?
No, that would be dumb. Like bringing back the Firehawk name for a G8.

I have the 3G iPhone on AT&T. I don't seem to have all these problems that everyone else is having. Where I live is solidly covered with 3G, so the data speed and call quality is great.
The price for the data plan is kinda steep - $30 a month.

I would be interested in a Detroit meet up. I'm sure I could get Mightymouse out of his mouse hole for the event as well.
