  1. I gotta step in here as a newbie and a Magnum SRT-8 owner and say I or anyone I know with SRT-8s rarely get whipped by anything. We run a tick over 13 seconds in the 1/4 with a 2500 ft D/A... right off the showroom floor. The only problem I have with the LXs is their limited tuning abilities. Even so, I rarely lose a race.

I wipe my @$$ with SRT's all the time. :P

  2. I work over in Auburn Hills near the Chrysler tech center, so it isn't very uncommon to see Chrysler vehicles around with camo on them.

Well today coming back to work from lunch, I saw a silver Challenger with some camo on it going the other way. I quickly pulled a u turn in the middle of Opdyke and chased it down! So I finally catch up with him, and we pull up first to the light together. I was taking some pics on my camera phone and the guys inside didn't look too happy about it, but when I threw them a rev their expressions changed. The two guys in it both smiled, and I was like YEAH IM GONNA RACE THE CHALLENGER!! The light turned green, and we both rolled into the throttle and I was getting ready to really gun it but the Challenger let off :hissyfit:

  4. WOW, that is a great write up from How Stuff Works. I work on developing and testing catalytic converters at work, and after reading the first thread I thought I would have to type all that up, but that write up explains it very well.

From the symptoms you are describing, I wouldn't hesitate in replacing the converter.

When cats go bad the exhaust has a funny smell. I cant really describe it, but it is noticeable.

Here is a safety reminder: Do not park your car over tall grass or piles of dry leaves. Your car's perfectly running catalytic converter gets very hot…enough to start fires! You can keep it running well by keeping the ignition system in top shape, to prevent any unburnt fuel from entering the catalytic converter.

At work, I have seen cats get up to 1000* F :fiery:

  5. I upgraded my laptop to Home Premium before taking the plunge with my desktop, and so far I like it. I do prefer the way that XP handles changing desktop settings, and windows explorer is changed around a bit too. The only real big issue that I have is the damn window that pops up reminding you that you are doing something to your computer and do you want to continue? That can be turned off tho. The Widgets feature is cool and you can download a few that are real useful, but it pulls alot of system resources, so I turned it off. The one thing that I really like is Aero. Having the windows transparent looking is the same thing that I have on my desktop with my Nvidia card, and I probably would have done it anyway if it wasn't an included feature. Being able to turn the windows sideways is a cool feature, but I never use it. It's more of a novelty.

All in all, I probably wouldn't go out and pay full price for Vista, but if a new computer came with it or you could get a free upgrade like I did, I say go for it.

  6. I'm quite sure they need to have SOMETHING as a license plate since they're driving on public roads.

When we get cars from GM, they always have manufacturer plates on it.

Uh oh, I think there's a Yaris taillight stuck in its right nostril. Or maybe its a moth. smile.gif

 I love the way the Ram Air hood looks, it looks like its gonna come kick your ass. lol

Welcome to the F-body experience! thumbsup.gif

Now I can see how hard it was to give up the Firehawk. :(

Nice going! I was in your drive to check it out 15min after you split for flint derrr....

Just missed it Pics look great

You did the right thing. And I scored some 98-99 vintage

mags with tweeks and dyno results for your car...etc

you should dress all in black when you drive it ha

will it earn the Performance division sticker? hmmm.

You should have said something! If I knew you were gonna cruise by, I definitely would have stayed a few min longer. I still have the GM PD sticker stashed at my house, but the back window has 5% tint on it, and I dont know if it will be able to be seen. I will have to check it out next time I am home. Speaking of the next time I go home, I will have to cruise down Woodward to meet up with you, it would be nice to see the 'bu up and running instead of up on jackstands with no interior. :P

  8. Woodward would be awesome to go to.

BTW, I Just noticed it appears your two front tires are different?

I don't know about the two fronts being different. I literally had like 1 hour where I was able to check it out, then I had to drive back to school. I didn't think they were, but I know that the front and back are different. It will probably be getting some Nitto's soon tho.

  9. I wanna see that on tape!!!

You should see it in person! Woodward is the event that I look forward to every year, I seriously think that it is the most fun that a person that likes cars can have. I would encourage everyone to check it out. This year will be even better now that I have a TA!!!!

Well I just picked it up, and all I can say is OOOOOOO MY GOD!! Now I know what I have been missing all my life, a LS1!!

I couldn't keep it on the streets for too long, because it doesn't have a plate or insurance, but this thing is awesome. The exhaust sounds better then I could have imagined. I didn't even use the radio, the sweet exhaust note kept me wanting more.

Sooooo, without further delays, the pics......

  11. You are very lucky to be able to take part in an opportunity like this. The Heritage Center has an awesome collection of cars, and is definitely a worthwhile place to check out. If you have the chance to go for a ride on Black Lake at the Milford Proving Grounds, do it. It is really cool.
