1. Your top page tabs are horrible, at least on my computer.  When you click on "COMMUNITY" you cannot see the topics that pop up because they are white letters on white background.  (at least on my computer)  How about making the drop down lettering in black?????????????

  2. This problem has shown on all cars today and for the most part I have settled to the fact that SUV's are the only thing for me that fit big men. :(

I have a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2012 and it has the largest opening doors I have ever seen on a car; tall and wide and open real wide. It has more front seat space than my old Lucerne and it was really big.

    Two problems with this.

    1) While it is big for many, I have tried the latest version of Camry and while roomy to a point, it is not for tall people as once I got the front seat so that I was comfortable, no one could sit behind me and I really do not like sitting partially reclined.

    2) I support American jobs first before anything else and will buy from GM and Ford as long as they exist to support our country.

So Toyota will always loose out.

My 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid was made in Georgetown, Kentucky USA!!!

  4. I owned Buick's all my life. Always traded them in for new models every two or three years. Recently I moved on to something else when they did away with the LeSabre. Went to the Buick garage last week to have "Auto Butler" applied to my present car TCH and the service person took me to work in a new Lacrosse. I was shocked trying to enter the car. I practically knocked my head off on the roof because it was so extremely low. If this is what Buick classifies as their big car then I shall never own another Buick. Getting out was just as hard without knocking off the top of my head. Rise the roof level so people can enter and exit the car without a headache!

    Press Release:

    OnStar Expands Beyond GM Cars:

OnStar "Blue Button" Safety, Security and Connectivity

Now Available for Most Top-Selling Vehicles on the Road Today

    * For the first time, OnStar's industry leading safety, security and connectivity services are available to consumers in a standalone rearview mirror

    * Retail product to offer key OnStar features including Automatic Crash Response

    * Available in the U.S. in spring 2011 for $299;Best Buy announced as first strategic retail partner, with over 1,100 stores; other selected retailers to follow

Las Vegas, Jan. 4, 2011- OnStar today announced that it is responding to repeated consumer requests by offering its industry leading safety, security and connectivity services for non-GM and older GM vehicles already on the road. A standalone rearview mirror packing all of OnStar's core technology will be available this spring through consumer electronics retailers, and is compatible with most top-selling vehicles from major manufacturers.

The OnStar retail product offers the key features that have made OnStar's "blue button" an icon, including Automatic Crash Response, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance, one-button access to emergency and roadside services, and hands-free calling, including Bluetooth connectivity.

"For years, thousands of drivers have asked us to get OnStar in vehicles that didn't feature it as standard," said Chris Preuss, OnStar president. "With the retail product that we've introduced today they certainly can. This move in to the consumer electronics space represents the biggest development in our business model since introducing OnStar as standard across all GM products several years ago. It represents a quantum leap forward in our plans to grow our business and provide a strong new revenue base for GM and OnStar from which we can further develop our core offerings in the factory-equipped market."

OnStar will offer the mirror in the United States through Best Buy, its first strategic retail partner, beginning in spring 2011. The product will also be available through other selected consumer electronics retailers. The mirror will be priced at $299, plus installation (expected to cost between $75 and $100). A range of service plans will be available, starting at $18.95 a month or $199 a year.

"We're proud to be OnStar's first strategic retail partner for this innovative offering, which is one more way Best Buy can help our customers stay connected whenever and wherever they want," said Lisa Farrell, senior vice president and general manager portable electronics customer solutions group at Best Buy. "We provide a one-stop solution for consumers. In addition to purchasing the device at Best Buy, we offer our customers the convenience of having it installed by our Geek Squad Auto Techs – all at one location."

Ingram Micro will serve as the key distributor of this product and is the main contact for interested retail outlets.

Currently, the OnStar mirror is certified to work on 99 percent of the top 20 selling non-GM vehicles over the last 10 years, or approximately 55 million cars and trucks. OnStar expects to certify additional models in the months ahead.

Key features of the OnStar mirror include:

    * Automatic Crash Response. An accelerometer built into OnStar the mirror detects the sudden shock of an impact from the front, side, or rear of the vehicle and automatically calls an OnStar advisor. If the driver doesn't respond, or responds to say there has been a crash, an OnStar advisor will direct emergency responders to the exact GPS location of the vehicle.

    * Link to Emergency Services. By pressing OnStar's red emergency button, drivers are immediately connected to a specially trained emergency advisor for assistance in situations occurring inside or outside of their vehicle.

    * Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance. If the vehicle is reported stolen to local law enforcement, OnStar subscribers can call 1-888-4-OnStar (1-888-466-7827) from any phone. OnStar advisors, available 24/7, can attempt to locate the vehicle through the mirror's internal GPS and provide the location to law enforcement.

    * Turn-by-Turn Navigation. With OnStar's most popular service, drivers can press OnStar's blue button and ask OnStar advisors for directions to a specific location or ask the advisor to find a point of interest such as a gas station or nearby restaurant. The directions are then downloaded to the OnStar system, which provides spoken turn-by-turn directions for reaching the destination.

    * Roadside Assistance. In non-emergency situations, drivers can push the blue button or call 1-888-4-ONSTAR for help with problems such as keys locked in the vehicle, a flat tire, or running out of gas.

    * Hands-Free Calling. OnStar allows drivers to make hands-free, voice-activated calls either through a Bluetooth connection to the driver's mobile phone or through prepaid packages of minutes purchased through OnStar.

All these services are available directly through the OnStar mirror, without requiring the driver to bring along a mobile phone or even own a mobile phone. In the event of an accident, emergency services are alerted even if there is no mobile phone in the vehicle, the phone is damaged in a crash or the driver is unable to use a phone.

OnStar is now in its ninth generation of technology. The first-generation OnStar product in 1996 was comprised of 38 individual components and could take up to four days to install. Now all of the technology required to deliver the OnStar experience fits inside a rearview mirror weighing only 23 ounces, and professional installation is expected to take less than an hour. This requires removing the vehicle's current rearview mirror, replacing it with the OnStar product and running an electric power source to the new mirror.

For more information on OnStar's innovation, the new OnStar mirror and a list of the compatible vehicles at launch, visitwww.onstar.com.

This information is currently incorrect. The OnStar's web site states that OnStar IS ONLY AVAILABLE AS A FACTORY INSTALLATIONN AND NOT AVAILABLE AS AN AFTERMARKET ADD ON! The article above says their website lists compatible vehicles at launch.

  6. It is an internet explorer 8 problem.

Try using compatibility mode in IE8

You are correct, It IS AN EXPLORER 8 PROBLEM!

    Thanks!!!!!

    Compatibility mode corrected the problem.

  7. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but when I enter the home page of Cheers & Gears, a NEW google ad immediately comes over the top left side of the screen with no cancel or close button and covers the forums button. Is this just my computer or is anyone else experiencing this horrible feature?????

  8. The 2010 LaCrosse should not be considered Buicks flagship. It only offers V6 engines. It's mid sized with the trunk of a compact at only 12.8-13.3 cu. ft. It weights about 500 lbs too much for it's mid size interior measurements and small trunk. It's exterior it too plain and AWD is going to be a mid level base engine only proposition. To be a flagship you have to do better than this.

I personally think the problem with the auto industry today is the thought that "FLAGSHIP" means V8, BIG, etc. I think the flagship cars of the future will be smaller, more efficient to survive. The flagship concept of the past is dead and has killed Oldsmobile, Pontiac, etc. You can't live in the past. The young boy concept of big mean machine is only a dream of the past. To survive the auto makers must be smarter than to continue the BIG trucks, BIG SUV's, BIG flagship cars. What we need is well designed, economical to run automobiles with up to date technology. Bash all you want, this is the ONLY way auto makers will survive...

  9. My friend's Prius' engine always starts when the power is turned on and the temp is 37F or below. The reason being is that there's no heat for the cabin without the engine.

EDIT: It is my guess that's the reason.

I have an '09 Camry Hybrid. When you press the power button the car is READY in electric mode. The engine comes in momentarily but not to heat. The car is all electric so it has an electric heater to bring the car up to running temperature in cold weather until the ICE heats up. You get better mileage in warmer weather when the ICE doesn't have to run as much to keep the batteries up from all the power drain. Always starts, runs great!

  10. As a Buick owner for 28 years and a current 2006 Buick Lucerne owner, it is with nostalgia that I say Good Bye to Buick. I am hopeful that Buick does not go the way of Oldsmobile. However, it is the forgotten stepchild of GM relegated to a small room in the attic.

Tomorrow I take a last and longing look at this old friend as I step into the new world of my 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. I once swore never to darken the steps of the foreign auto market. But as the Buick I once knew slipped silently away into the attic room neglected I reluctantly yet with anticipation look forward to a new day in my hybrid.

    Farewell Old Friend!

  11. Ahh gotcha but how could you save them, there not like a JPEG. They have a funny format and I get some little option box... What is up with that.

    227919

They are Macromedia FLASH and I don't think you can save that format!

  12. Someone recently wrote concerning glass in the Lucerne. My 2006 Lucerne CXL has laminated glass in the front windshield and the (4) four side windows. The back seat side non moveable windows and the rear glass are tempered. I checked the glass to make sure before commenting.

  13. About the same here..it's still $2.75-3.00 a gallon here in the Denver metro area....I haven't seen any substantial 'drop' in prices yet.  I don't expect to see it under $2.75/gallon anytime soon.

    195311

I Live in extreme southern Illinois, and I go across into Kentucky and get gas at the current Tuesday price of $2.15 per gallon. Always .20 cents higher in Illinois because of taxes..... :pbjtime:

  14. Well, usually on the Buick site it has an asterisk with a note that says "CXS model shown" or something like that.  Maybe it has that on the configure page?

    186300

Yes, it has that stipulation on the original page where you select your model selection but no where after does it say anything at all. On the summary page where it supposedly shows the car you have built, it has no note stating it is not the model you have built.

  15. Whoah.. the price of the Lucerne CXL V6 went up by about $1300!  That's a bit much--

    over $29,000 for a car with a 197hp V6 and a 4-speed auto?

    186289

When I configure the 2007 Buick Lucerne exactly like my 2006 Buick Lucerne, the final summary page says:

Congratulations on Building Your Lucerne CXL V6!

    Total MSRP:* $33,540.00

The only problem is that the picture Buick shows of my new CXL V6 is actually a V8 with 4 portholes and fog lamps.

Maybe a few tweeks are due so as not to mislead you as to the final appearance of your car.

  16. Do you really think with all the product stated for Saturn that its sales will not rise?  CTS is where volume is growning. Not only that but it is setting up future sales of higher profit/larger vehicles.  GMT900 Escalade, NG CTS, and the upcoming BRX will grow the brand as will the revamped STS as it moves up in size.

I will disagree with that for 2 reasons, GM has publically stated it will not be abandoning its brands anytime soon and 2 Buick is not a stand alone line anymore!  Buick is partnered with GMC and Pontiac.  Pontiac will cover the lower end/sporty cars and GMC will handle the trucks, why we don't need a Raineer or Rendevous.  If GMC gets a Theta or sub-Theta model then Buick doesn't need one.

This is model year 2007, GM plans things years in advanced and that means they are likely planning the 2011-2012 model years now.  It takes time to do engineering and design work.  It takes time to build up the cash to do new models.  It takes time to build a brand into the positive area of customer perception, which despite what many "Buick Fans" might think is not very good right now.

Now a question for the "Buick Faithful":  How many of you bought your last Buick NEW within the last 7 years?

    My guess is not many.

    184527

I purchased my 2006 Buick Lucerne in March, it is the CXL and I love it!!!!!

Talk about rear wheel drive cars; you can have them!

  17. I live in southern most Illinois and the Alero must be the most popular car purchased in this area besides the Buick. EVERY day you pass several on the road while going somewhere. They will be with us for a very long time.

It is hard to say so long to a legend, a part of our history!
