  1. I saw it last night too. Big fan of the '84-'86 line, was 9 in 1984... HUGE theater, dang near full. The audience reacted very well to the humor, the action, the surprises, etc. It was an absolutely amazing flick, though a few times a bit cheesy. I had to remind myself this is based on a 25 year old line of TOYS! Several subtle visual references too, i.e. '71 Camaro Bumblebee sitting next to a yellow '71 VW Bug on the carlot and he hits it with his doors :)

    I agree that Bumblebee's voice was a little cheesy, but Prime and Megatron's were AWESOME. I think Hugo actually sounded a bit like the original but more sinister. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get "Agent Smith" out of my head when he spoke, but you couldn't tell.

    The audience applauded and cheered at the end...don't see that too much. VERY open to a sequel. I read somewhere a while back that Shia LeBouf (sp?) mentioned that he was signed on for 2 more...

    Oh, and the Camaro as well as the (gasp!) Mustang were just awesome! I got the chills when they had their first little chase/fight. :thumbsup:

  2. I hate to bring this up...but why is there a problem with interior room. 11 years ago the orginal cloud cars came out. Do you know how roomy the interior is? With the seats all the way back you still have a load of room. It seems rediculous that companies still can't get it right when there are old cars that pulled it off. Malibu is pretty large yet it loses interior room from the previous model...I just don't get it.

    Edit 12 years ago

    I was thinking the same thing. Longer, wider, longer wheelbase, yet less room in almost every parameter. WTF? Is the quietglass that thick?

  3. The layman knows the Chager/300C are much better cars than some dolled up Impala wiht a transverse mounted engine and FWD. Not that the Impala is a horrible product or that the Mopars don't have flaws but it's not even a contest as far as performance & value goes.

    Yes, after driving the Charger R/T, Impala SS and Grand Prix GTP, I unfortunately have to agree. Driving with FWD just sucks with those V8's.
  4. Both are great cars. You can't go wrong with either. The Malibu that I rented for a day was a pretty solid if unexciting ride. The Impala is a real looker in person. If you're going for the 3LT Impala with the 3.9L, you might as well step up to the base SS and get way more power for the same mileage. B)

    Yes, but Premium gas and insurance adds up.

    To be clear, I have driven (ASIM and rentals) Malibus and Impalas, both 3LT and SS. I know what each car would need to make me drop the cash, so I was hoping '07 would bring those things to make my decision easy. I enjoy both drives fairly evenly. It may seem funny the importance I place on little things, but spending $20K+ should come with no annoyances. Here is what needs to change in my mind:

    Malibu - needs MP3 CD capability and AUX input (rear RCA would be freakin' sweet) or just put the Imp's radio in there. Fold flat seats would be nice too. That's it and I'm a buyer!

    Impala - Would need single or dual auto AC, telescoping steering wheel, and an inch or two of legroom for the backseat crew would be nice. That's it here! So close on both!
  5. I agree, I'm thinking about getting the Impala LTZ and the thing that holds me back was the HVAC controls.

    I don't understand why a car at it's price offers manual A/C and a cheap Kia can offer auto???

    [post="35622"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    I HOPE it's not only to differentiate from the Lucerne, which has dual zone auto AC. Give us at least single zone auto in the Imp! The Malibu, as well as many lesser-than-Impala imports have the telescoping wheel too. Makes a car feel less cramped, and the Impala feels a bit cramped to the steering wheel (I'm 6'1" and am more comfy in the Malibu because of this.)
  6. Well, I am looking at a Malibu LTZ vs. Impala 3LT. Very close to the same price, though with an extra $1,000 GM Card allowance the Imp actually is a bit less. Malibu offers a few "luxuries" like auto dimming mirror, leather seats and auto A/C for the money, while Imp gives you a bigger engine and bigger car and I agree, better interior. My main issue is with the few things that one has over the other (as mentioned) and if they are fixing these for '07, I could wait a year. If not, I'll buy before Jan 3rd to use my additional $500 from the ASIM I attended recently.
  7. Self explanatory, I will get one of these two cars, but each has it's pros and cons to the other. If they add auto climate control and telescoping steering wheel to the Imp, or put the Imp/HHR radio or flip/fold rear seats in the Malibu, I would be swayed...
  8. The picture on the front page says it all. So what do you all thing? What is it that C&G has the information to?

    [post="16515"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Well it looks like a Cobalt refresh, so probably the new Malibu since a Cobalt wouldn't change much that soon.
  9. Still a mighty unimpressive car overall-the next one needs more width (69" for a mid-size car is no longer valid, and hasn't been since the first Taurus came out-yet GM's done it anyway), it should be at least 71" wide, 72 preferred. It also needs to get that class-leading 17.1 cubic  feet back-the 1997-2003/(04-05 Classic) may be one of the most mundane cars ever, but it had class-leading cargo space and good space efficiency-though it was slightly beat when the 2000 Saturn LS-Series sedan came out. And how about red and blue returns for the interior, along with real cloth upholstery and available 6-passenger seating? The prices are still a little high for non-LS models as well-that is one of many other things that needs to change.

    I agree up until this point about width. 71 or 72 inches would get pretty tight in my garage, along with many I have seen in So. Cal. If the midsize gets this big, how big will Impala's need to get, and will the Cobalt grow too? I can't even imagine why someone would like thered and blue interiors, or anything for that matter of the pre- '04 Malibus, but maybe that's because my Mom had one in the late '90's...

    To each his own I guess.
  10. one time a couple punks that liked to pick on my younger brother kept on doing the ding-dong-ditch thing to us...I was about sixteen. We were babysitting a cousin of mine, who at the time was a REALLY fussy baby. We'd just gotten her down when these punks came up and like LAID on the doorbell, and woke her up. My dad and I ran them down and dragged them into the house. Dad tossed them the phone and gave them an ultimatim:
    "Either you call your parents, tell them what you did, and tell them to come pick you up, or I call the cops, tell them what you did, and tell them to come pick you up. Your choice."
    Never happened again. :D

    now THAT's funny!
  11. Well, their Financial Advisor is bascially telling them that if they try to get credit (buy a new car, refinance their house or try for a home equity loan, apply for in-store credit for those "$0 down, no financing for 1 year deals", etc) while co-signing for your loan, they could be turned down as they may appear to be over-extended on their credit.  It's a possibility it could happen to them, that's why their F.A. is advising them of it.  It's a pretty lame excuse, but he's doing his job.  My dad has excellent credit and and co-signed for my first lease solely because I was still on their insurance policy still (hey, I was in my early 20's and their policy was much more affordable here in NJ than me being on my own policy!!!).  It never affected him EVER because I was always on time with my payments.  But hopefully your parents will come your way and help you out.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in the meantime.

    Exactly - tied up but not screwed up.
  12. about the car, they were totally settled on me aving this type of car for a long time...I have spent atleast a year searching for it, then all of a sudden, this past week they said their financial advisor said it wouldn't be in their best itnerest. I dont have any credit whatsoever. My parents now refuse to co-sign because they say it will screw up their credit...I figure it would only screw up their credit if I was to default on a payment, which one, would not happen, and two, if came the chance that I wasn't able to make a payment one month my parents would back me...The car isn't the problem. The price isn't the problem. The loan is the problem...If co-signing a loan does not affect my parents credit then that is great, but from what they say it does...or from what their financial douchebag says anyway it does <_<

    [post="860"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    You are right Nick, it won't screw up their credit unless you miss payments. It will however, tie up their credit as long as they are on the loan.

    By "parent-like" I meant that someone needs to help you establish credit for the first time, no bank will do that on your word.
  13. Yes, unfortunately, even if you make all payments on time, it still ties up their credit. Your parents need to be a bit more "parent-like". I always hated those parents that BOUGHT their kids cars in high school, when my first car (1980 Firebird, 140,000 miles, $1895) took me nearly 2 years to save up for... Anyhoo, a few years later I wanted to start building credit and my Dad co-signed on a $7,700 1991 GMC Sonoma (in 1997). sold it in a year or so, (you could refinance), Dad is off the hook, my credit is good and I bought a house within 2 years! Maybe they'll co-sign if you make a deal to refi in a year or so. Do you have a bank account? Credit Unions are great for bank accounts and car loans. That's how I started. Good luck. So what car is it?
  14. I have a question, What is the benefits of RWD over FWD?  We went to FWD because of better traction and control, so why go back to RWD?

    [post="553"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    ...performance, weight distribution, reliability, repair costs, funner to drive, the fact that I live in Phoenix and don't give 1/2 a rat's about snow traction...

    Why is it that all "Ultimate Driving Machines" are RWD??? B)

    That said, there is a need for FWD too, just not in Pontiacs, maybe a RWD Chevy or two to go with the Vette. And, by the way, not all of us want LARGE RWD's. A G6/Bu/93/Aura sized RWD would be killer - look at the BMW 3 - ugly now and still sells a ton!
