1. You know what. i like this thing, it looks like it would kick your ass, and the fact that it doesn't drive like a Viper well "duh" it's a truck a real SUV not one of these sissy car based body on frame deals with 4 wheel independent suspension and so called car like handling. if you want something that handles like a car buy a car. I bet they will sell lots of these, styling wise it's a love it or hate it kind of approach but it seems those are the cars that sell.Although i wish they would have put some real truck wheels/tires on it but thats an easy fix.

  2. The back reminds me of the STS more than the CTS.  That is one long front overhang, though. Damn.  It looks like it's on stilts, too.

    Edit: spelling.

    206846

yeah really why does it seem so tall the wheels look tiny must need a lot of suspension travel for those crappy chinese roads, but look at it this way it is a blatant rip-off of caddy styling but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

  3. Gotta love my Millenia. It may not pack alot of power, but its always there when I need it. Damn Toyotas, Hondas and VWs. :P

    205874

Umm your precious mazdas just like a lot of new cars have ETC.at least i know the mazda 3 does .

  4. Automakers need to learn that sometimes 'innovations' just aren't. I don't think a Camry needs electronic throttle control because if Mercedes can't do it perfectly for a $60-90k car, then why should I have any confidence that Toyota can even get by with it in a $20k car.

    205848

Exactly the electronic throttle control is a pain in the ass you just cant modulate the throttle like you should be able to, and what the hell is the point why would you ever need to take something that is simple like a cable and replace it with an over complicated system that will probably bite you in the ass and wallet sooner rather than later.

  5. Naturally, different transmissions sap different amounts of power. I couldn't seem to find it in the article, but doesn't the GTI have a DSG transmission?

    205424

yes it does have the dsg optional and it is a fantastic tranny i have the pleasure of driving one once in a while, and also the 3 and Si cant even come close to the GTI's refinement in the GTI you feel like you are driving a racecar that was designed to haul ass, the others feel like a souped up shi*box and the si is just a joke with that engine you have to rev it to ten million rpm's for it to even move.

GTI wins among these three no contest.

  6. I can't tell much, but I do get a slight Toyota vibe from the styling on the side... but again it could just be the camo, so we'll see.

    203969

The toyota influence may be because the first Vibe was kind of the twin of the Toyota Matrix i don't know if they teamed up on this one too, but i kind of think it's looks if not dimensions are very similar to the Caddy SRX although it is hard to tell much about it with all that camo.

  7. I have to admit, it is a very refined car, and looks good inside and out. It looks like it got a lot of influence from the new Yaris, and the front end reminds me of the tC. Nothing special about it, it certainly isn't as modern looking as the new Civic, or as controversial.  :AH-HA_wink:

    203396

i agree the front end is definetly TC-ish

  8. You know what? I want my arms resting on something soft not brittle and hard. My cheap-ass Shadow has the armrests soft and even the dash (which matters less but it's the principle).

All vehicles should at the very least have soft material on the arm rests on the doors and the center.

    203018

ok i can agree with that.the arm rest on the door and center console/arm rest deal.

  9. Nothing? Damn that is cheap...how about the Compass? Anything soft? The Sebring sounds ok...I don't mind the lower dash being hard plastic.

    202830

Why does everything have to be soft and fuzzy, i for one appreciate an interior that is durable and still offers enough comfort to take a decent drive, but these things are not luxury vehicles we cant expect every car to have these leathery luxurious interiors and also IMO all this fancy luxury crap doesnt belong in a truck in the first place.

  10. In elementary school, I had posters of Tornados and Regals up on my wall.

In middle school, I carried Buick, Olds, and Cadillac brochures to lunch.

In high school, people knew me as a car guy and right behind that, a Buick guy.

And today at twenty-one I...well, I drive an Oldsmobile, but would never turn my nose up at a Buick.

    202678

Funny thing, this is true you were definetly the Buick Man and the briefcase dude, and the most entertaining person in german class, but back to buicks thats sweet that they are doing this i just hope they dont make them all ghetto with 24's and all that useless crap that does nothing for me at least, there is nothing wrong with buicks new or old my buddy had a brown 88 Park Ave. it was fast ,comfy and indestructible and the 72 Riviera that is probably my favorite car ever along with the 60 and 62 chevy biscayne.

  11. Put a converse mirror below the regular, and ta-da! No more blind spot... if you know how to use mirrors.  Good thing this won't generally be in the hands of the average teenager or others who haven't learned proper use of a mirror yet.

    202634

Thats all it takes to fix that problem, but i think you mean a Convex Mirror, it's ok we all make mistakes. This thing is nice though, i really like this idea. Except why is the cargo floor so high up it seems just like the seats are folded down?

  12. Sweet! You can win a beer cooler!

    201274

LOL beer cooler Mmmm beer now i want one damnit, I hate these corporate sponsors on arenas they used to have special names that identified with the teams that played there or the city they were in. Anaheim MD's was "the pond" now it's the honda center crappy, the ICE PALACE here in Tampa turned into the St. Pete times Forum lame, anyway there are too many to list but my point is this sucks the Mighty Ducks should at least try to get sponsored by 3M Duct Tape it could be the DUCT TAPE ARENA.

P.S. NHL opening night tonight finally a real sport to watch.

  13. Its funny because you have to file FOIA papers to find any real tangible Mitsubishi sales figures. They never mention the Raider or Endevour anymore, they boast about some CUV they're releasing two months from now, and they keep referencing ambiguous milestones like, "Lancer sales up 48% over September 19th, 2005" or "Eclipse up 80% over last September's Tuesdays."

Also, month to month this year, Mitsubishi's sales are plateaued, showing deflections of several hundred units (if that) either way. But, instead of 'stagnant,' they spin it as 'consistant,' i.e. "Despite the new Eclipse and revamps in models over the past few years, Mitsubishi is a consistant loser in the sales field."

I just wonder how much longer this is going to tread water. Galant was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Then, the Eclipse was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Now the Outlander is? Doubtful

    200874

FOIA? nice brian Form G-639 something from my evil line of work.I am working on one right now or i am supposed to be instead i'm stuck on c&g. i hate law!but really mitsu is in trouble, every vehicle they have released recently has flopped IMO it's a lot easier to have your sales figures increase by 80% when you sell 10 cars thats a whopping 8 more cars lol .i think they're done.

  14. i tell you this.  people in this country will not buy renaults.

if there were some technology sharing, in the interest of stonewalling toyota, i guess that would be ok, say for example, some good 4 and 6 cylinder motors or a transmission.  Things like that I feel can be shared as long as the vehicles are distinct.  I don't think platforms ought to be shared.

i tell you this though, if ANY of GM's styling starts to look like Renault, you will see a big backlash.

maybe this is about sharing manufacturing techonologies and running plants together, rather than the final product being the shared piece.  It is in both Nissan and GM's interest to stonewall toyota.

    198601

Yes they will buy 'em, and they already are the NISSAN VERSA is nothing but a rebadged RENAULT CLIO.

  15. Those are all great memories but how could everyone have forgotten Captain Planet, and HE-MAN, haha trapper keeper everybody had em you look back now and think wow what a bunch of dorks we were, i still have my pogs in the garage lol..cuz if i threw em away they would be worth a fortune the next day.

  16. Nice looking car , but the legacy has always been nice IMO i just hope it is as reliable as the early 90's legacys my best bud has 2 of them one a 93 wagon with 185k no problems the other a 92 wagon his daily driver the odometer busted a year ago and then it had 265k so it is probably near 280k, now still drives great.

  17. Hehehe... it says "TESTFAHRT" on the back of the wagon, oh, ESTATE.

    192623

FYI "Testfahrt" is "test drive" in german, but you probably knew that, and actually germans refer to their station wagons as Kombi or, Avant if it's an Audi.
