1. Hey, its been many moons since I was active on this forum...

But I'm stationed here in germany..

I was liking the new cruze, and was curious if the US version is the same as the Euro Chevrolet version of the Cruze...

Anyone know what might have changed, are they made in multiple locations, etc?

2. Might I also suggest:

Welcome back!

Glad you're back.

Cadillac has your car waiting....

2009_Cadillac_CTS-V_burnout.JPG

certainly havent looked very hard at the dodge products, really didnt like the charger platform when they were on our used lot, didnt like the suspension or steering. Maybe it would be worth while to try one out, but i have always leaned toward GM.

I was thinking about the CTS-v on the last gen, but I think i've been over here while the specs of the new one came out.

dont really know what its all about.

1.)if someone would kindly catch me up, Pontiac sports truck is done? what about the GMC sports truck?

2.)Traverse is currently out? and is it selling well?

3.)Camaro this is its first month? so we'll see, how is expectations, did GM say what its annual sales should be?

4.)Malibu looks like its kicking butt, same with the G8 bucking the trend, hopefully by a lot.

5.)Is the CTS still selling well or kinda died off? did we ever get a wagon CTS?

6.)Enclave is doing well?

7.)Whens the new Lacross due?

8.)if hummer sticks around is the H4 near production?

9.)Chevy volt still looking for production at $35k? is lutz going to work until it sees production or he will retire early?

10.)New Impala coming?

11.)how are advertising programs going? effective?

12.)is saab still part of GM?

13.)did GM sell portion of opel?

i cant think of anything else, but if you can think of any big things that happened in the last year, trying to catch up

3. Welcome back!

Glad to hear that you are returning home soon.

On the car choices, I can't fault you on any of the three. :AH-HA_wink:

lol, the requirements were +400 horsepower, and a manual transmission. not too many cars that fit that bill...

but I cant decide between practicality and style. seeing that Im getting a divorce no kids, doesnt really matter what its used for, but pleasure is a must.

4. Wow its been so long since I've been on these boards. Getting ready to end my deployment and come home.

It seems GM has changed quite a bit, has quite a few problems at its feet, but I think it will recover.

Thinking of getting a new car when I get home. undecided between a G8 GXP Camaro SS or Corvette

5. I really doubt GM's situation is as disastrous as GM makes it seem, while it is unthinkable to have such a slow year, GM wouldnt continue to offer support to delphi if they couldn't run themselves.

if there is money to spread, i'm sure i'd get in line and act the part of an ailing business.

I believe that Obama will do wonders for the industry, and america... protectionism is in his word and his nature.

Having congress on your side when it comes to union contracts, seems to be quite an advantage. I would hope that GM doesnt end up shelling out billions for health care to form a veba, and obama makes things free or much cheaper for insurance.

6. i like what wagoner is trying to do, but undermining the companies previous plan to keep all 8 brands alive will be a waste of money in the long run... it is best to keep all alive, and in the upcoming years, GM should strive, as long as the sales begin to pick up, the camaro will do wonders for GM as soon as it hits the showroom, chevy will be selling again, almost like the old days... i think the camaro is GM's silver bullet right now, and i hope it can do for gm what the camaro did for gm in the 60's

7. the board of directors and the management needs to be renewed, and replaced. wagooner has cut the fat on the company, but there still remains some expenses that could be removed, that he wont do.

wagooner has removed so many subsiderarys of GM... and i dont think that is good... companies like delphi should still be with gm... but whatever. if thats how a company makes its money by selling the accumulation of wealth then i cannot see this company being dominate any longer.

8. Thank top-of-the-heap American, and developed world, greed for making this happen...Enron, WaMu, etc. etc. Think of how many people are hurt by the actions of a few, and this is coming from someone who started out in the college of business administration....

im not certain if u are considering wamu to be corrupt like enron, but if you are, you are stepping on some mighty big toes... the treasury is corrupt and might have taken lessons from enron on how to sell power/debt to other companies... but at some point... it stops and someone falls big... im thinking its going to be citibank... fdic tried to keep them afloat by giving them wachovia, but as u can see that failed to go through, and citi is stumbling, very badly.

9. We suffer...

That's where it leaves us.

(Seriously, this sh*t isn't going to be reversed in 2 months like the 'global government' seems to think. It's going to take years)

perhaps not... the big guys sure fall the most, from globalization... but it helps the little guy in america, if the little guys in china go out of business...

china had a hand in this, a little bit, they raised their minimum wage and put themselves out of work, for cheaper smaller 3rd world countries... now their factories are empty, and the asian bubble has popped. we'll see how this affects japan, as the majority of all their sales are outside their country. the US is relitively self sufficient we have every sector in our ecconomy, and much of the world depends on us for agriculture. so that market wont dry up... but japanese exporters will dry up, and leave the streets of japan without income... making the money crisis in japan even worse. i believe that the world ecconomy will continue to fall for the next 2-3 years... and at some point obama is going to be the last man standing with a plan, and everyone will look to him for the future of the world. the snow ball is just starting to get rolling... look 80 years ago, on black friday the market lost a huge percent... this september had the worst week in the Dow's history. and if u look at the great depression you'll see that the stock market continued to fall for the next few years, it didnt really hit bottom till 32-33 ish, that was 4 years after the crash in 1929. it took till 1937-1939 before wall street had fully restored to its previous highs, and the bubble continued to grow until 1950 when the market took a huge dive again.

10. Rick should stay. The UAW should go and the legacy costs should be taken over by the government.

Remember: "Those who can... do. Those who can't (presumably because they lack the ability or intelligence) write about it." Peter Robison and Jeff Green at Bloomberg I'd put in the latter category.

I appreciate the article that obama's advisor said with government aid, the workers need lower wages... kinda smears the UAW in the face...

11. I don't feel overly comfortable getting into prolonged political discussions, but I honestly think that Barack Obama truly does want to help the Big 3 auto makers. I know he needs votes in key Midwestern states, but I also think he actually will try and do something about the predicament our auto industry is in if elected. (This particular discussion starts at around minute 2:20)

Thoughts?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV1Yq_KEAHQ

well it kind of goes with a lot of the things he said... he's a protectionist... he also is talking about making serious tax cuts for companies that create new american jobs, or retain american employees... so, i think hes on the side of the workers... he wants to make sure that they have a job every day, and i think he understands that if something is not done, the welfare of the majority of detroit could be at stake...

12. regardless of how it sells, it will still be a new entry for chevy and will sell more units then last year, because it wasnt on sale last year...

all and all, it shouldnt steal sales from the other 3... and might steal production from the discounted GMT900's...

so all and all i think it will be good, this will be the best selling lambda by far, and its looks wont have anything to do with it... it's just what the market wants and chevy will capitalize on it...

13. Click of the mouse? I just did a deal with a retired Ohio employee. It was more than just a click of the mouse for him and for us.

Something is rotten and GM has every right to be pissed about it.

I'm just saying every GME discount I ever did was extremely easy... but my dealership usually had a way of making everything easy... its probably why we were so big

14. ???? Is it the wild, wild west down there? Without an authorization number from GENERAL MOTORS, the discount does not get assigned. Simple. The employee must call their HR people and get that number, then we have to call our dealer line and match the autorization number with another number that we get from head office in Oshawa. I just did a retiree employee from Ohio and the paperwork is a nightmare. If their is fraud, it would have to come from the employee, not the dealer. We don't get any of our 'memo money' unless all the authorization numbers are matched - and each one has to be generated new, plus the 'employee' has to sign off on it.

Again, it's the games from the employees that cause the havoc. They know the dealer sells for cost and gets 5% 'kicked back' in compensation, so the employee shops the 5%. In a nasty letter from head office last year, GM threatened the dealers and the employees that if the guidelines are not followed TO THE PENNY, the deal will be charged back to the dealer and the employee could be fired for fraud. In a rare flash of brilliance, GM declared they will audit the salesman's commission slips, since that is the true proof of gross. Many dealers were playing games with stuff like 'throwing in' extended warranties, etc. to mask the deeper discounts they were giving, and I guess the union got fed up with all the games.

Saturn pulls the same crap with their 'no haggle pricing.'

But which came first: the chicken or the egg? I've had many GM employees want to negotiate 'cost.' WTF? I'm glad to see GM finally cracking down on this. Frankly, it is impossible for a dealer to follow the rules, because the employees themselves will just keep looking until they find a dealer desperate enough to sell them the vehicle the way they want to buy it.

its not that hard... maybe in canada, here its a simple click of the mouse... not hard at all...

15. QUOTE(superstreet @ Sep 23 2005, 06:07 AM)
I THINK THAT CAN HELP A LOT BUT I THINK THEY NEED INTRODUCE A SPORT CAR LIKE THE CAMARO BECAUSE THE MUSTANG SELLS A LOT

in 2010 GM will probably want an entire fleet of sports cars for every brand after seeing the success with the camaro... GM is really bad about bindging i think, it sees success and it will drench the market to capatilize on it... it wastes money throwing money in yesterdays market...

if it wants to change the market, release everything at once, risk it, dont wait to see the return on the risk, then indulge more...

GM cant be profitable on all platforms at once, or all brands or even all portions of the company, but it can make desireable vehicles...

more suv's? perhaps if they can show people that they get more then 18-20 mpg city... and average of 23 or so... they will be in good business...

otherwise, you might want to leave the segment alone and get our of the limelight
16. So now more lease's on Buick's or GMC's that is stupid. Only car you can lease is a G6? Can you go through a private company I bet dealers will bitch.

oh course you can go through a private company...

the only thing that is changing, is you wont see GM advertise 'get a new CTS for $299 39mo 1k miles a month' 2300 due at signing'

you wont see any of that type of deal, but if you goto a dealer and want to lease, they'll show you your options, they wont give you GMAC, because GMAC doesnt offer competative rates anyway. you'll get bank of america or wells fargo or one of major branches... but chances are, residual rates are dropping, and the intrest rates are rising, it wouldnt make much sense to pay 270 on a lease for a cobalt, and 310 for a purchase for the same term... this is why GMAC isnt doing it, because it doesnt make sense for the customer, and if GMAC makes it worthwhile for the customer, it comes at the expense of GM...
