  1. What Toyota builds in the US is 76%, which is on par with everyone else.

That's why Toyota is opening 5 more plants in the USA...

And you cited a Michigan Congressman, and a Detroit newspaper. Sure those aren't biased sources either haha. :scratchchin:

But yes we take note these 5 plants will NOT be in Michigan. All the hatred unites in Michigan. Plenty of Americans outside Michigan will welcome more jobs.

Michigan is on the way down, as xenophobia keeps it from opportunities.

  2. weighing a bit more than the others.

Their test data says the TL weighs 90 lb less than the other 2 cars, it's got the best grip, and it takes tighter corners than the G35.

It just has a weaker engine.

Maybe the G35 was doomed by its clutch and transmission? Dislike of it is expressed by many reviewers.

    Buy the automatic they say.

  3. Are you sure temp workers get no compensation at all for injuries on the job?

That sounds like the year 1870, American Industrial Revolution. AKA Modern China.

If it's true, that's like... ancient times.

An old lady isn't the most reliable source, but that's just wrong if it's true. There must be some stringent laws against that.

    That is so 1870.

  4. Ion- ugly yet has inspired many designs in cars...odd but true.

    Not really. Not really.

It was one of the earlier cars to go with such a rounded roof, that's the similarity everyone sees in newer cars.

But if you look at this proportion... egg head with glasses and frail body.

  5. There's no fun to such a short list. <_<

This is what the people with real money say.

    January-March 2007

    5-series 11,127

    DTS .......10,947 (has $5,000 rebate for 2006)

    E-class ..10,447

    M ............6,264

    GS ..........5,217

    STS ........4,434 (has $8,000 rebate for 2006, $2,500 for 2007)

    S80 ........3,103

    A6 ..........2,832

    RL ..........1,547

    S-Type ...1,065

My pick is the M, E-class, or the A6.

Do the Cadillacs go fleet, or are those real buyers?

    Midsized "pseudo lux"

    ES .....18,050

    G35 ...15,323

    TL ......13,704

    CTS ....10,766

    Passat .8,990

    MKZ .....8,098

    9-5 ......1,092

  6. Evo X...yeah baby

Evo X is a luxury car, cheater! Where did you get all that money from?

You can buy an Audi A3 and have change left with that much money.

    8. civic

    9. sentra

    10. G5

crazy crowded market. Poor ugly Ion.

I used Edmunds to see the whole list of choices.

I hope my imaginary rabbit won't break down.

There's this giant thread of tons of people with stalling Rabbits with no known solution... lolol :o

  8. unfortunately it looks bland/nice enough that it will continue to sell like hotcakes. Jetta meets Corolla.

As the buyers ponder between this, or a Civic, Mazda3, Sentra, Focus, or Cobalt.

I would only put the Civic on top. The other 3 cars have to lure me with their bargain prices.

The Mazda3 is for the performance crowd, with like 8 less mpg. Big difference for a commuter's choice.

When there's no other choices on the market, bland is still comes out as best.

Unless these plastic exhibits suits your fancy.

Ok the other cars aren't so bad.

Wow what planet did the Civic come from? Take me there.

Notice all the American designs prefer square edges, where as all the Japanese designs prefer curved edges.

Must be cultural. Are you a curved ball or a square head?

  9. That's the Euro Market only Corolla. The one coming to the US will look pretty much like this

You posted pictures of the same car. Same exterior, same interior.

  10. The idea that the engine needs to turn ON to test "2500 rpm idle" is twisted.

The Prius is delivering the truth.

At idle, it produces ZERO emissions. And that should be recorded as the official test result.

Because the engine does turn off.

Because it really produces ZERO emissions at idle.

In any case, all cars have diagnostic modes.

The prius does already have an engine always-on diagnostic mode.

    No patch needed.

Emissions shops just need to know how to turn on diagnostic mode.

It's the standard hit the brakes a couple times, put car in park, hit brakes more, yadda yadda... *pop* enter Diagnostic Mode.

So a good thing to do, would be for state law or federal law to mandate car companies to provide shops with easily accessible info on how to turn on diagnostic modes.

  11. ... This car was introduced October 2006... quite ancient for internet news.

You can take that interior with the Blade/Matrix exterior instead.

    Camry's 2.4L, 167 hp engine, CVT, 2WD or 4WD, 3064 lb - 3218 lb.

As for the 2008 Corolla, that's a different car.

1.6L 122 hp, MultiMode transmission, push button start, paddle shifters.

Or 1.8L, 136 hp for Japan market.

    2008 Corolla movie

    http://www.toyota-europe.com/cars/new_cars...=320;height=212

Even the lowly Corolla has paddle shifters now.

I'm guessing that "MultiMode" is a European marketing name for the Japan marketing "Super CVT-i", which is used in the Japanese Corolla, Auris, and Blade.

The CVT get better mpg than the available 5-speed manual.

All 3 cars are available with 4WD in Japan market.

  12. This article has insufficient information to make any judgements.

What both Toyota and GM said need more explaining.

Shouldn't the IIHS collect whiplash data during their frontal crash tests, where the vehicle is taken as a whole?

What gave IIHS the great idea of taking the seat out of the car and testing it in an isolated laboratory setting?

  13. The Euro is 53% stronger than it was in 2000.

    http://www.forecasts.org/data/data/EXUSEU.htm

So if they used to sell a Passat for $20,000 USD in 2000, now they need to sell it for $30,588 USD.

No wonder a Passat costs as much as a CTS, and a Jetta as much as an Aura.

Poor Europeans. We're sorry we're taking your jobs and hiring 1.53 Americans to replace each one of you.

Perhaps BMW, Mercedes, and Audi should consider building their 3-series, C-class, and A4 in the USA.

The USD:yen has been pretty average on the other hand, $1 USD = 117 yen, which is about average (100yen - 145 yen range).
