  1. GM Trademarks 'Vapor'
Link to Original Article @ Trademark.com

On November 5, 2007, American auto company General Motors Corporation filed to protect the trademark Vapor in relation to “motor land vehicles, namely automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks and vans”.

A quick search doesn’t connect the name “Vapor” with any specific GM brand or GM concept car. So, Mork will have to post an update when one of these names comes onto his tradar:

    Buick Vapor
    Cadillac Vapor
    Chevrolet Vapor
    GMC Vapor
    Hummer Vapor
    Pontiac Vapor
    Saturn Vapor

Those Astras are the same pre-pro ones I saw up in Detroit; however, they have their headlamps on, making this photo-worthy. The 2008 AURAs now carry engine badging since the XE can now be had with a 2.4l. Neither Miami nor Tampa featured at 2.4l AURA. This is also the first time I've seen the new VUE Green Line.

Check out the new SAAB fascias front and rear. The ‘ice block’ taillamps actually look rather nice in person (especially in softer colors like the blue convertible), but the real coup de grace is the incorporation of the CTS’ light pipes as DRLs in the front headlamps. The manner in which it flows with the upper grille lines makes it, dare I say, a more cohesive execution that in the Cadillac. It really looks awesome in person.

This combined with the CTS and bejeweled headlamps of the Escalade Platinum makes a clear statement about how new headlamps technologies will be parlayed in the near future across all lines.

This is, IMO, the single best concept GM has done since the Sixteen – yes, that includes the Camaro. Its really amazing to behold this car in person. Very graceful, very flowing, and very representative of where SAAB is going in the short- and long-term.

Your normal gray-on-gray interior we’ve all seen for the Miami Malibu. But the Tampa Malibu features a much more appealing Cocoa/Cashmere cloth combination. Good to see there will be variety.

The Malibu is a wonderful looking car inside and out. More handsome than either the Accord or Camry and with a superior interior, too. You can count cutlines and worry about the material five inches under the seat all you'd like, but the look and functionality is far superior to the doofy Toyota and lousy Honda interfaces. Plus, nothing looks more ridiculous than the Accord's gearshift indicator. Like a playtoy.

Malibu hybrids were at both shows, but the Tampa show had an interesting variation...

This BRX prototype is thoroughly disguised, but its smart size and solid stance are clearly visible. A sharp midsection character line can be seen plunging downward from the C-pillar, toward the front front fender, hinting at some possible CTS overtones. The tester was also sporting some seven-spoked wheels that closely resemble the seven-spokers on Cadillac's current Escalade. An interesting side- window-line angles back sharply at the C-pillar, with a slight kink at the waistline.

The BRX is also expected to be shared with Saab (on a 9-4X), and the revised platform may also spawn a Buick variant as well. Engine options are expected to include both the 2.8- and 3.6-liter HF V6s, while a diesel will also be offered in Europe. The new CUV, perhaps available as early as next Fall, will be available in front- and all-wheel-drive configurations
