'Government Motors' is no more. Today, the U.S. Treasury sold its remaining shares of General Motors, ending a four-year ownership of the automaker. The Treasury says it recouped $39 billion of its original $49.5 billion investment into GM.

“The U.S. Treasury’s ownership exit closes just one chapter in GM’s ongoing turnaround story. We will always be grateful for the second chance extended to us and we are doing our best to make the most of it. Today is not dramatically different from the hundreds of preceding days during which we have worked to make GM a company our country can be proud of again,"said GM CEO Dan Akerson in a statement.

“Continued investments, innovation, and job creation are just some of the “returns” of a healthy GM and domestic auto industry. Our work continues uninterrupted, and we will keep our sights squarely on our customers and transforming the way we do business.”

GM's North American President, Mark Reuss told reporters that this could help bring more customers into the showroom and help improve the company's image.

“I think probably some people will begin to consider us right away, maybe the next day.”

So they still owe 10.5 billion and got off the hook....

  2. Friend was looking to lease a 2012 Liberty and was told by the dealer that there will be NO 2013 Liberty's. In 2014 the new Liberrty will arrive. Is this correct? No 2013 and they are stopping production ??

  3. Anybody see that story over at Yahoo about the guy that put a recorder in his 2010 SS Camaro? He bought it in for a Tranny noise. Looks like the mechanics beat on ( burn outs etc )it for 20 minutes or so frying the clutch. He is now in a battle with the dealer. Looks like Chevy may or may not get involved. I wonder how prevelent this is with Hi Po cars ??

  4. I like the interior of this new Dart. The exterior is fine, except for two things: the Chargeresque taillights and the squshed crosshair grill. One of the reasons I would prefer the 300 over the Charger is the taillights. To me, those taillights look like a cheap rental at best. They remind me of the rear of a 1994 Camry (which was awful), only this one is worse! As for the crosshair grill upfront, it does not look like it even belongs there. On the Charger it works fine because the crosshair looks like one, which was derived from the 1994 Ram. On the Dart, it looks tacked on and does not belong there at all.

Me Just the opposite. I love the Charger tail lights and the Darts as well. Just different and they stand out

  5. False outrage. If you are against communism then dont buy anything made in China. I go out of my way to look for USA made products and often do without until I can find a non-China alternative.

So let me get this right. You really only buy American made products but your OK with a recently bailed out company by Americans to support a Communist propaganda film. I'm thinking those that died fighting againt Communism will not share your view. Cannot wait till this gets on the Military forums

  6. This is very sad. GM is like a tree thats just keeps losing it's branches. Just last week I saw that Saturn commercial with the guy pitching the fact that Saturn had introduced 5 new models recently. Who would buy one now? Actually seeing all this would scare me away from any GM product and I suspect this will happen. Maybe in the end it will make GM a much smaller player and more profitable but many people may never come back to the General I'm afraid
