The thing is, NASCAR was warned by several heads of motorsports around the world, in particular Bernie Eccelstone the head of FIA, not to let Toyota in. They have no corporate ethics, they are very cut throat. NASCAR is on the decline anyway, and toyota will help speed the process.
I recall that. Can't remember who it was, so thanks for the heads up.
I would LOVE to see GM, Ford and Chrysler pull out of NASCAR to concentrate on SCCA and other series; leave NASCAR to Toyota, and I understand soon Nissan.

I just wanted to let you know its been quite abrasive around here lately and i'm going to be leaving for awhile.
leaving........ to go potty and a night snack. then, if I'm tired, I'll go to sleep, and, hopefully, shower in the morning.
well, between that and travelling overseas for a few months and relocating and then just PMSing in general.
so yeah, i'll be gone for a couple hours.
Best...forumcide...ever.

If you start the computer, then press and hold the F8 key during the boot sequence, you'll get a menu that will allow you to go to a command prompt.
Are you familiar with DOS internal and external commands by chance?

On a similar thread, one of my coworkers came up to me today and was excited...'You have to see my new car! I'll drive to lunch'. Ok...he didn't say what it was, but ok. So four of us leave at 11:30 with him, and walk to the parking garage...and get in his shiny new... '07 Corolla. White with a gray interior, automatic. Replaced his '99 that was white with a gray interior, automatic. Very exciting. Not.
First thing in the morning, I'm taking two slices of bread over and slam his doorbell. When he answers, I'll motion toward the xB with the bread and simply say "toast please".
Holy crap that was funny.

JAPAN
in The Lounge
Most people are happy to carry on being totally oblivious to the Trade War now going on, but if a gaijin says anything about protecting the North American economy, they're instantly labelled a racist and ridiculed.I challenge anyone on this board to try and buy a house or business in China or Japan. Go ahead. See what happens. Yet, we are allowing huge tracts of lands, buildings and entire industries to be bought up by them. Oh, yeah, and in exchange, they finance our penchant for cheap imported goods, and our government's inability to balance their damned budgets.
Wake up people, there is a big difference between FREE TRADE and what is happening between the West and Asia. Big difference. They barely hold their contempt for us in public, let alone in private. Funny, they will send their kids here to be educated, but then they are summarily yanked home, unless they can prove they are buying up half the city.
And just for total disclosure, before everyone flames me for being racist, 6 years ago I was dating a very well-known (well, at least over there!) Hong Kong entertainment personality, so NO I am not racist, I am just sick of us selling our futures so that we can buy $20 toasters. Or "better" cars.
It's much more convenient for them to ignore the actions of foreign governments and corporations when they want a Sony Walkman, a Nissan Sentra, or a JVC TV. That way they don't feel any guilt about who they are actually putting out of work. Most North Americans will do or say anything to justify their tacit support of the Japanese Economic War Machine.
It seems that younger people are the ones most easily swayed into the Eastern Camp; they have no memory of how the Japanese have manipulated the North American Auto Industry, and other industries.
I do.

Hydroelectric power is great! I assume we are maxed out, however.
Don't think so. At least we in Canada sure aren't. The problem is that it's so politically incorrect to even suggest building Hydro, (especially after the Glen Canyon debates) that nobody has the guts to just build one. A shame, because it's completely renewable, and carbon free.

A Solstice GXP. At least 5 Solstices today, but just one GXP.

The "Asian-American" reference is just more proof that Toyota's drive to be seen as more American than apple pie is working beautifully. Mind you the press writes what they THINK the public wants to read, so the writer's choice of words actually makes sense in the context of this article.
Are they Asian? Of course. Are they American? Of course not. But to the woman with 2 kids who just bought a Corolla because her friends told her to, it's nice to know in her own mind that she bought a car from a nice American car company like Toyota. So she thinks.
Toyota is very good at these little mind games, and almost always have been.

Toyota seriously expected 42.5% of current domestic truck owners to race into a showroom and sign on the dotted line?
This just proved to me that Toyota will not be taking the #1 automaker crown from GM this year. No way that management could make that much of a supposition and be proven correct. Not a chance.
Somebody had some seriously skewed market research done it looks like.

I can hear the new members running to GMI as I type.

Big difference is that Toyota owners don't ADMIT that their vehicles break, or that they get hosed at any given parts counter. Some sort of Bushido code?
