  1. So does the Corolla.

If Lutz has run out of ideas, I have some. To start with a certain lower-midsize 4-cylinder sedan, and second a couple of 1.6 L engines.

Out of ideas? How about getting rid of that astra interior. That soupy-dreck doesn't come close to that of its rivals. Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

  2. I'll say it again. Expect a Holden Commodore with the Pontiac front end you see there. Go to Holden's website if you want to see what this thing will look like.

    No way!!! :duh: really!?!?!??!??!?!?

    • Luxury Package - power folding OSRV mirrors, articulating headlamps, power tilt/telescope, 110V inverter - (CXL only)

I'm unhappy with the option packages; they seem a bit...light. Non-standard leather? Driver Confidence Package should be standard fare on the CXL. A 4-way passenger seat on the CXL? What's with that crap? Its clear this isn't going to be a $30,000 vehicle.

So far, chalk me up as disappointed. It seems like they're holding back in anticipation of the V8 CXS/Ultra which isn't even close to being out yet. Bad, bad move. Sure, its a pretty look, but things like this make me want to stick to real cars where you at least get value for your money.

I'm not sure where this leather option is that you're concerned about...but in any event

Why would leather be standard? First of all, not everybody wants leather. Second of all; look at BMW and MB. 5 series for example, leatherette is standard, the leather by itself is a $1450 option...and that's on a car with a base sticker of $43,000.

Stop being so nit-picky, you want a $50,000 vehicle at a $30,000 price tag.

  4. Is the GTO not australian-based? I personally never considered it an american product by any stretch of the imagination.

That doesn't make it based out of Nashville.

If that were the case, GM would be based out of Melbourne in Austrailia or Rüsselheim in Germany, South Korea, China, Brazil, etc.....

    Get the point?

  5. The way the wood is around the vents looks so after-market.  This car needs the Chinese interior, STAT!

The wood does remind me of the kind in my father's old 1990 Fleetwood...

I cannot see anyone paying a premium for this. The DTS on the other hand, the changes are very palpable.

  6. QUOTE

What's missing is a Bluetooth hands-free phone link. With a growing number of states banning the use of handheld cellphones, this technology is not only convenient, but essential. Yes, you can opt for the OnStar system instead, but we're not fond of that feature, at least not for making cellphone calls. We'll stick with our little Palm Treo - at least once Caddy finally adds Bluetooth, most likely next year.

Okay.... So... Because you "Don't LIke" the award winning feature provided on this vehicle because you're a whiney little b*tch. WE'RE supposed to listen to you complain about it?!??!? The feature was there, YOU SUBJECTIVELY CHOSE NOT TO USE IT. STOP whining!

    QUOTE

Gary White, the man in charge of General Motors' full-size trucks, doesn't deny the delay, though he does defend it, insisting his goal was to make the Escalade (and its sibling SUVs) the best trucks possible in terms of ride, handling, performance, and towing.

But Bluetooth is just one of several features you have reason to expect from a luxury vehicle, whether car or truck, but which are absent on the Escalade. Another is express, or power-up, windows. You'll find that feature in even a mid-level Hyundai, but not the Escalade, at least until next year. The 'Slade could also use a power tilt-and-telescope steering wheel. Indeed, there's no telescoping feature at all. Instead, you have to settle for power-adjustable pedals.

    Oh, Jesus Christ.....

More of this Car & Driver-esque nitpicking bull$h!.... GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Not ALL luxury cars feature this technology, and it'll be here in 7 months, so GET OVER IT!!!!! Just another LOSER trying to find ways to screw over GM.... Crying about stupid $h! like an express up button.

And what's more, he ACTUALLY made the rep defend these things... I would've given the guy the FINGER and said crawl back in your press room.

    113003[/snapback]

FOG, are you serious.... These are legitimate gripes. It's a luxury brand, there's no excuse for there to be no blue tooth capability. NONE, so stop backing up GM's shortcomings. And all you can say is "and it'll be here in 7 months, so GET OVER IT!!!!!" except in the meantime other luxury brands have already implemented these features. If you keep making excuses for GM playing catch-up, you're going to get really tired really fast...because that's GM's MO.

  7. I saw the new escalade at the philly auto show, and it looked incredible. It was black (which in my opinion is the best color). However, I saw it today on the streets in a tan color, and unfortunately, from the side it looks just like any other GMT-900 SUV. Now...I will say this; the side profiles of all the GMT-900 SUV's are hot!...I was just a bit dissapointed that a escalade could easily get confused from the side with a tahoe, less the engine ports.

  8. They're talking about just the screen being there still.  A lot of cars, like those mentioned, rather than having 2 completely different sets of center stack parts, just use the same screen for Nav and non-Nav cars, the latter just not having the Nav funtion, and instead just having things like a clock readout, temp, etc.

last gen 5 series didnt have the screen at all w/o nav...nobody seemed to criticize that. I'd say the escalade is a leap over any other luxury competition in its class, and that warrants that type of price tag, which is relatively competitive.

  9. It should definitely have a screen standard. You know I really feel for that price tag there is nothing special about this car like a 5-series or M45 of this price range would have. A standard color screen would go some way of resolving that feeling.

dunno about the current 5er, but the last generation didnt have standard nav.

  10. In it's final years, I wouldn't necessarily call the Aztek ugly.

It broke the mold design-wise and certainly had it's odd angles, but it never disgusted me as the Durango does upon seeing it.

Once it shed it's plastic cladding and was fitted with the larger wheel package, it almost looked attractive.

ugh...I'm sorry; I am a GM fan to the end, but I dont think anyone should get away with using the words 'aztek' and 'attractive' in the same sentence. =( I'm going to have to dissagree. The durango, while quite ugly, is not nearly the embarassment the aztek was. But that's just my opinion, and of course you're entitled to yours...just felt the need to throw in my .02 =) <3
  11. what a bunch of dumb f8\*ckers at GM......Jesus Christ why is GM continuing to insist on leaving the HF v6 products out of their chevy and buick and pontiac products?  the 3.9 is an ok pushrod engine but for crying out loud your continuing to get raped in the press and in the showroom and you keep REFUSING TO PUT YOUR BEST PRODUCT ON THE SHOWFLOOR.  IDIOTS.

Someone please, i struggle to get how someone shopping Pilots will want the Enclave with the shortchanging under the hood.  The 5.3v8 is a great move, but dammit, get those HF v6's under the hood too!

Do the guys running GM EVER pull the sht encrusted heads out of their asses?  its to the point where we should line em up against the wall and flog them their moves are so stupid.

really, what sort of dumb ASSES are planning product at GM?  This is as bad as making the 3500 available in the Aura.

    I am completely perplexed.

    ooo...so dark
  12. I'm not so sure...

There are a lot of negatives already with fuel instability and anti-SUV :bs:

Add to that a subtraction of the distinctive looks that MADE the Escalade in the first place and an almost equally impressive and identical looking Denali except without the frivolous add ons and we instantly have "the bad old days" of the K1500 based Escalade.

STYLE makes Cadillac because that has been it's MAJOR selling point since the re-vamp and even in the golden days and that's what it's target audience gravitates to. Why is it so hard for Lutz and co. to realize that?

No style=No success, at least in that niche.

    [post="40348"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

And this speculation is based on spy shots? At least give it a chance to fail lol. Stop counting your chickens before they've hatched sheesh =p
Something else I'm curious about is, whether or not people purchasing a vehicle of this price range are really all that concerned with gas prices. *shrug*
