I agree that Peugeot will cause overlap and nothing to gain except for those that hate all things American and only want European auto's. Small market to be sure, I think it would be better to badge Peugeot as Chrysler products and use the brand awareness to grow Chrysler sales.

    Agreed!

I would hope they do not kill Dodge! As a matter of fact I think they should return Ram to Dodge assuring its survival! Then bring in Peugeot models as Chryslers!

  2. So they are making the V brand have less powerful versions of their V capable models. This is not really a good sign. A drop from 640HP in the CTS V to 550HP in the CT6 V is a massive drop! Will there be something above V in the future? V+ perhaps?

If Cadillac had put these crossovers on a rear drive chassis then you could have the 550 hp V8 in the XT5 and even XT4.  Now I think demand for a V8 XT4 would be tiny, so I would understand making that a front drive crossover for the sheeple that buy $40k small crossovers.  XT5 and up should be rear drive all the way so they can put a V8 in there.

Agreed! I could see a nice 500HP Turbo 3.6L V6 in a RWD based XT4 if they had had the BALLS to do that model on a version of Alpha! Oh well. :(

  3. I wish Cadillac would have introduced the XT5 and the new XT4 on a version of the Alpha platform instead of the FWD based models they have now. They would be more competitive with REAL luxury crossovers like the Stelvio and the MB models leaving Buick to do the luxed up FWD based crossovers giving  Cadillac a more Premium image. With the Sigma platform they had the right idea having the CTS and original SRX based on the same RWD based platform. That first SRX drove and handled wonderfully much better then any nose heavy FWD based model can.

  4. I truly wish the XT5 and other upcoming Cadillac crossovers where based on their sedans Alpha platform with a base RWD configuration. They could have had true performance versions of these crossovers as well as their great sedans. This new V8 is much needed by Cadillac and here is hoping it will come in the next CTS/CT5 or what ever silly naming scheme they call it in a non V or V sport version!

BMW has to sell bottom feeder X1s to survive. Cadillac doesn't... GM can sell plenty of Traxes and Encores outside of the Cadillac brand.

What BMW is trying to do is be General Motors without multiple brands (Mini is niche of a niche and has been struggling big time, Saturn sold more cars in 2009 (79K) the year they were canceled than Mini sold in all of 2015 (58k)

    ((AMEN)) To THIS!!!

  6. Cadillac loves French and Spanish names.

    Cars:

    Calais: compact sedan/hatchback

    Lasalle: small sedan/coupe/convertible

    Seville: mid-size sedan

    Eldorado: mid-size coupe/convertible

    Fleetwood:  full size sedan

I'd skip a full size coupe since that is such a tiny segment, and position Eldorado about $5-10k above the Seville.

    SUV/Crossover:

    Avignon: small crossover

    Alicante: mid-size crossover

    Imaj: large crossover

    Escalade: large SUV

For a slogan I would go with "Since 1902" it is doesn't have clever marketing speak, but it reminds people they have been around a really long time.

Cadillac Naming Convention, Time to Show your Marketing Mastery!

We have had many threads in many auto lines that always hit upon if the Alpha Numeric naming is the best it can be or not. Some love the german branding of the names, while others hate it. Many have stated it is time to bring back the names to Cadillac.

With this, I am bringing to the Cadillac forum this naming thread so that you can lay out YOUR CHOICE of names, how they would be used in the auto line up and for fun add in YOUR MARKETING MESSAGE, or TAG Line!

I will start this off with my own listing of how I feel Cadillac should cover their auto family line of names. To me a Sedan is a 4 door auto, Coupe is a 2 door auto, time to clearly show which is which and bring back the proper room and space into the luxury line. No more blindly and dumbly following the germans or anyone else. Show what America Luxury is and tune it based on proper marketing clinics with feedback from the public.

    Marketing Tagline

    Like No Other, Cadillac!

    Problem with the slogan:

    AAEAAQAAAAAAAAKeAAAAJDYwNGU0MjM1LWU1OTIt

I like your car model names. Looks like a list I had many years ago when the present names were coming along.

Lasalle for ATS. Lasalle was the sub brand of Cadillac many years ago so why not their sub model today?

Saville for CTS. Saville was the mid-sized euro focused model when it came out in the 1970's so Perfect.

Daville for XTS. Daville was the large Cadillac positioned below the more premium large model so if they keep it around Perfect.

Fleetwood for CT6. Need I say more? With these models I would also add Coupe for coupe models and Sedan for sedans as in Coupe Lasalle for ATS Coupe like the classy old days. You have a rich history Cadillac so TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!

I would have a large Coupe named Eldorado loosely based on the CT6 positioned as a more expensive model in the lineup as well. Then I would find a naming scheme for the crossovers/SUV's based around Escalade in differing sizes and or marketing positions. Its a well known name now and it could be used across the crossover/SUV range!

  7. they could do this if they canceled the ATS coupe.  The ATS coupe is the 'second ever G6' in terms of looks.....ATS coupe won't sell....but then again neither would this, but the Avista is better looking than the ATS coupe.

both tread on the Camaros property.

Not hardly any market for coupes.  Can't make this a sedan either.....we already have a new Regal and Verano coming.

This car in both 2dr and 4dr forms should have been the Regal replacement! In RWD and AWD forms it would be the only RWD based somewhat affordable sedan in the domestic market! Using the Camaro version of the Alpha platform it like the old Firebird/Trans Am was for Pontiac could have been the Buick version of the Camaro helping spread out the cost in 2dr form while having the 4dr RWD based sedan that nobody else offers in this would be price range!

  8. Well I guess one of my main fears for this car has come true.  The wheelbase has shrunk substantially, and it looks to all have come from the front wheels.  Even with the larger wheels on the concept, they were almost entirely ahead of the base of the windshield.  This is a substantial factor into why the concept's proportions look so good in spite of being front wheel drive based.   On this prototype, the wheels appear to have shifted rearward by a good 3 to 4 inches.  The rear wheels seem to have just about stayed put... maybe moved forward very slightly in relation to the roof-line.

I like that they've kept the overall look, but the side profile view with the wheelbase shrinkage really tempers my enthusiasm.

    I completely agree!

  9. I was hoping the next gen Regal was going RWD based and sized between the Cadillac ATS and CTS. That way they could do a coupe version and a new Grand National version of that using the 3.6 Turbo V6 from the ATS V for power! Then the ATS V could get the upcoming Cadillac exclusive 4.5L 500HP Turbo V8!----Oh well!:(
