  1. Ok took the car in to the dealership and had the shop foreman come for a ride with me - he heard and identified the noise immediately. Left the car with them over night and was given a Grand Prix rental (what an embarrassing car to GM - so dated and plasticky). Dealership called the next day and said it was ready. Re-aligned fixed glass sunroof panel and a couple of other things and I am happy to report that for the most part ( a few creaky noises remain when going through my underground garage) but the most annoying noises have been silenced and i can live with what remains. I was never so happy to get back into a car after driving that Grand Prix and swore never to be seperated from her again. Am back to really enjoying the car - terrific interior, handling, engine and transmission.
  2. Unfortunately had to miss my appt due to a work issue. Have re-scheduled for next Monday the 19th to bring it in. Will have to update everyone than!
  3. The car is going into the dealer on Monday afternoon for the sunroof issue as well as one of the strip of led lights on the dash for the ambient lighting has been inoperative since day 1. I hope they can fix the sunroof issue although the post above indicating that the sunroof is supplied by the same company that did the G6 has me nervous. Be wary of these oversized sunroofs people-they may look cool (from the outside anyways-i have always thought that the huge expanse of glass in the car and its inherent exposed tracks and flimsy sunscreen actually take away from the interior ambience- I would much prefer a regular sunroof with thick cover and increased rigidity). Perhaps cutting that big a hole in the roof is causing too much bending and causing the glass and what not to twist and bend. I can tell you from inside the car it sounds like it is going to twist itself apart. I had high hopes that this car would be delivered perfect - but it was not. I was in my friends 2006 BMW 525 today and much as i dislike those cars styling and interior - I do have to say that it is still tight as a drum and not a rattle or squeek to be heard.
  4. The Equinox never got any worse after that. It actually remained a very stable, safe and reliable vehicle for the 3+ years I owned it and the initial batch of rattles seemed to dissapear and at the end it was a very quiet, solid piece. I actually kind of miss it right now!
  5. Just wondering if anyone else is having - or has heard of this issue. My 2008 CTS - Direct Injection RWD - with the ultraview sunroof is making terrible creaking and groaning noises every time it is driven over any type of change in road elevations, bumps, driveways etc. It is quite the cacophony of noises and is making me irrate every time I drive the thing. My joy of ownership has turned to not wanting to even look at the thing. I know a trip to the dealer should solve this but it is inconvenient. I live in downtown Toronto and there are no Cadillac dealerships downtown anymore so I have to travel 30-40 mins north to drop it off and I haven't found the time yet. Just wondering if there are others out there experiencing the same problem with this sunroof set-up. I can't believe Cadillac would release this car with this set-up if they knew about the noise potential and aggrevation to owners - I hope this is not a repeat of the infamous G6 panormic sunroof. I'm hoping it will get resolved soon - just feeling dissapointed that I am not enjoying my new car very much right now.
  6. You know I stopped visiting this sight because of idiots like Josh who base an entire new vehicle launches success on one poorly lit photo. As for the gap that must resturn between the chrome bar and hood, give your head a shake, exagerated gaps are never good on a production vehicle-haven't we learned that yet. The car looks 100% better with out it and i for one will reserve judgement on the cars potential until i see one in the flesh and can judge it for myself. You might want to try the same Josh before jumping all over it with your judgements-come to think of it shouldn't you be writing an article right now on the cancellation of this vehicle-seems about your speed.
  7. It has been parked at the dealership an average of once a month since i have owned it for various problems including the rattles which just won't seem to go away. I sell Real Estate in Toronto and quite frankly don't have time for an unreliable vehicle-i use my car every day for work and need something that is dependable, roomy and doesn't suck gas like a pig. I don't want to be visiting the delership more than once every three months for an oil change and its a pain in the ass and time consuming to have to arrange for rental cars every time it has to stay at the dealer for an extednded period for some new problem. I can't really think of anything else to replace it with right now from GM that I find appealing.
  8. I could almost live with the electical/tranny/AWD issues and wright them off as as first year teething problems(though still very annoying). But its the freaking cacophony of rattles that make me mental. No 1 yr old car with only 30K Km on it should have any rattles-let alone the # that I have. It's my # 1 pet peeve in a car(rattles/noises) and this is where i feel the most let down by the Equinox. I hope that newer ones are better than mine in this regard-but still i wouldn't recommend this vehicle at this point. I do notice that the rear headrests are smaller for 2006 and these are actually a source of one of the rattles in mine. They are grossly oversized and mounted very poorly and shake and buzz over most any type of bump. I think next summer i will be dumping this vehicle and looking at a Saturn Aura-however i doubt that I will make the mistake of buying a brand new model right off the bat again-let em work out the bugs. Other than that I can't think of any GM vehicle that I really want to replace this with. So I could be making my first non-GM purhcase ever. And it is all because of cheap interior plastics and cost-cutting.
  9. Ok I've had this pig of a vehicle for 17 mths now and I can honestly say that i have never hated any vehicle more. I have the top of the line Equinox LT with AWD and have had a myriad of problems with it since new: 1) From time to time for no reason the key will not turn in the ignition unless i play with the steering column for sometimes upwards of 10 mins to get the ignition lock to release. 2) Cheap plastic interior rattles like a ten year old Cavalier 3) AWD system has had a number of issues and repairs under warranty to replace a variety of grinding noises and vibrations. 4) Craptacular transmission that routinely shifts hard or sometimes refuses to shift out of park at all- a couple of times i have started the vehicle and put in drive or reverse to no avail-the engine revs but no forward or backward progress. Hve to start the vehicle again to re-boot the computer. 5) Engine needs a fuel-injector flush after only 35000km to solve lugging/hesitation on acceleration-very annoying 6) Did I mention it rattles like a ten year old cavalier 7) The steering sucks and is proving problematic and noisy-very inconsistent feel. Overall I am extremely dissapointed with this vehicle and Chevrolet in general-don't think that I will ever by another after this experience. I will be trading this POS in this spring/summer and can't wait for it to be gone.
  10. I think they are talking about GMPD-General Motors Performance Division-the people responsible for the development of the CTS-V, STS-V, Ion Redline, Cobalt SS Supercharged etc, and not the Pontiac division.
