  1. Uh...thanks...I guess?

I suppose I could go into why what I do isn't a waste but you seem to be pretty dead set. Oh well, can't please em all.

No problem. We all have different passions and I respect that.

  2. Winding Road just lost so much credibility.

    223563[/snapback]

Did they even have credibility? They're an online magazine for chicken's sake! Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if their magazine downloads go up! Hooray for publicity stunts!

  3. I'm going to be one of those guys and say "so what, big deal."

There's a lot of talk about credibility and being professional, but I think we need a wake up call once in a while. I think what these guys did is pretty amusing.

Were they being a bit childish? Yeah I think so. I'm pretty sure the spy photography community are a little peeved. There's a little slant in the editorial obviously, Chris takes pictures and is afraid of losing credibility. But we need to take a joke I guess. Personally, I think spy photos are just a waste of time. (I have a slant too) Cars with big pieces of black plastic and zany paint jobs that basically show nothing aren't my cup of tea anymore.

I actually find it funny that a couple (or many) magazines and websites had a joygasm when a car with black plastic that could possibly be that oh so elusive Corvette stinray/ss/whatever finally got photographed. Personally, I really don't give a shish-kabob until it's in a dealership. Then we're talking...

Anyway, wish you the best Chris with your business.

  4. The problem won't be addressed by hiring new designers, but by actually allowing the designers a free hand in everything. Current and older GM designers were/are talanted, they just never had a chance to show it with all the roadblocks that were in the way.

So GM: Take risks, make a change, and for God's sake give us something to envy besides the Kappa roadsters...

  5. Um...how can it look Japanese at the front end looks like an Opel...which is European?

    :scratchchin:

 Which Opel? I don't recall Opel having a similar vehicle (the headlights aren't Opel at all, if that's what you mean.)

    And away, here's my evidence:

  6. I agree wholeheartedly. I have a whole stack of magazines that I'm suscribed to that I still haven't read (Road & Track, Automobile.)

The only thing I have bothered to look at every time is Automobile's design review written by Cumberford and Egan's articles in R&D. Other than that, it's all the same.

When I read a new magazine called MPH in a stand, it was like a ray of light. It's a breath of fresh air sometimes to hear some humor and wit in a magazine. It's something you don't see often anymore.

  7. So, let me get this right. A big, hawking V8 gets bad fuel economy? It's not meant to be a Prius! What a laughable reason for a shortcoming.

And, "strange vehicle concept" is noted as the other? Are you kidding me? When Honda rolls out the Element it's praised and is a segment buster, when GM drops a hot rod V8 into an SUV it's a shortcoming?

Man the media needs a "rule" book to keep things consistent at least.

You can't entirely dismiss fuel economy. Only supercars get that treatment, the SS is still an SUV meant to haul kids, go to work, go to the mall, ect.

And personally, I think this SS is a vehicle nobody asked for.
  8. Perception, good products with rather louzy designs and desirability, health costs, GM's inability to stop making 5 different versions of the same damn car. This all adds up. It can be fixed however. Exciting and desirable quality products takes perception right out (with time.) Health cost issues have to be worked out with the unions. GM can easily STOP badge engineering, but I doubt they'll do it. But PLEASE, at least do it right (major design differences, add brand personality, limit to 2 vehicles...)
  9. USA must hold on to one of its last leading segments...

we cant abandon GM and say "what happens, happens..."

    [post="61989"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

It happened because of GM's past negligence, and they're paying for it. And as I recall, the U.S. seems to suck at every segment. Except for science and technological advancements, but considering that few (educated) Americans actually appreciate science (while others ignore it), it may not last.

And really, #1 isn't important to me. As long as they're profitable (Porsche, BMW) and make cars that people lust for, then that's all I need. Not say that I want them to become some niche automaker...
  10. What I meant was the best of the GM full size.

Sorry to be blunt Caddyfan, but that's not much of a compliment...

And I wouldn't expect a Land Rover interior treatment from a refresh.

And notice (sorry for being negative today, bad day I guess) that the survey said 36% 'intend' to go off-road. Wasn't the 10% figure from people who 'did' take their vehicle off-road?
