  1. I am running Vista and don't have any speed issues. I have had cable modems since the early 90's. Then you used a dial up to connect and uploads went over the slow phone lines and the downloads came over the cable modem.

You could do a search for "speed tweaks vista" and it gets a lot of hits. I can't say if they will help but it could be a start.

  2. I showed this to my 10 year old and he thought it was really cool then at about 3/4 through it he said "Where do they put the gas in it?" That was funny that he even thought about something like that while watching it the first time.

  3. Walmart does lifetime balance and rotation also.

Just about any place will do the lifetime balance and rotation. The expensive part is the alignments which are needed to get the most life out of a set of tires. Most alignments run about $60 to $70 each time. I usually get the lifetime or 5 year alignments for anywhere between $140 to $180. Then this allows an alignment at the same time as the balance and rotate so about every 5-6000 miles.

  4. For Edmunds.com to make a claim like this they should show the sales numbers for the months preceding and following the C4C offers. But just stating this point with no sound rational has no basis in fact.

I am sure some people who were considering a new car purchase might have rushed their plans to take advantage of the offer.

With the current rebates on trucks there is more savings now than during the C4C offer.

  5. At least TireRack is used by at least a couple people. Their tires are all at good prices and there were several places locally listed as recommended installer in my area. I would prefer to use real tire stores since one service I like to get along with the lifetime balance and rotate is the lifetime or multi-year alignments.

I have never had a tire needing a replacement under warranty but I always get the road hazard protection. I think I have only had one flat in the last 20 years. But we never know what misfortunes might happen the next day.

  6. With TireRack mentioned here I was wondering if anyone has used them. When shopping for tires I considered them but even looking at the listed local companies that install for them and asking about it I was told if you have a problem with a tire warranty the tire has to be sent back to them and they decide if it is covered by warranty them ship a replacement tire. This could leave you riding on the spare for a while or buying a tire locally then having an unused tire sitting around. Granted this could be a con to sell their tire locally and keep a person from using Tirerack.

  7. I agree 32+ won't cut it as a competitor to its biggest rival for its class the Prius unless it is a big plus. It also is expected to have a much higher price tag.

Why is it that for every high mileage battery/electric plus gas car is designed for primarily short city driving? The people who need the high mileage are the ones who drive the farther distances.

  8. When I lived in Ft Lauderdale, FL I had several similar encounters with the Quebec drivers. They would come down for the winter and not understand that the people who lived there are not all on vacation.

  9. Justify it how you want, in the end there is no question that they are paying people to wave their right to return. And that flies in the face of "putting our money where our mouth is".

You are right this is not GM putting their money where there mouth is. If the car is returned with close to 4000 miles on it they will lose more than $500 when they have to resell it as a used car.

What would be better would be if you decide to keep the car after the 60 days then you get the $500 refunded. This way they would be closer to putting their money where there mouth is.

  10. I sure hope so. That Dex VI has to go in somewhere....

Sad part is, I do not have the booklet for the Balt.....the other "owner" lost it.....

You could register at the GM owners site then view the pdf of your manual.

  11. It is only a problem if you didn't want the car in the first place. A car is a big investment so if someone is that undecided they shouldn't buy. As far as not getting your trade in back that seems like if buying and undecided it would be best to keep your trade parked at home then if you do decide you want to return the car you still have transportation. And if you keep the car then sell your old car after the 60 days you will get more than the trade value and can put it on the loan.

  12. I don't do to well myself. I go to bed around 11 and need to be up at 5:30. So that would be 6 1/2 hours but I can't fall asleep then I get up 2 or 3 times a night for sometime for the bathroom and other times I don't know why I got up so I go get a snack.

  13. We had a situation along these lines at my home. My stepson and his girlfriend were arrested. We took in the 2 grandkids for a few weeks until they were bailed out by my stepdaughter. Then they skipped town and left her with the forfeiture of the bail for not showing up for court. They called after Christmas even though no one heard from them in months. We tricked them into coming to get the Christmas presents for the kids and they were arrested. This time they both spent a few months in jail while we had the grandkids again. I am not sure they changed any but they do seem to be keeping out of the legal system so far. My stepdaughter learned a lesson also but has her money back.

It might be better for her to spend a little time then she might appreciate her freedom and get back in line like I am sure you would prefer.

  14. Being out of debt is the best part but I would have preferred to still have my truck.

I hope it doesn't take an accident to speed up the process for you.

The stretching and the therapy are not too bad. It might help a bit on this old age thing that is setting in also.

  15. I now have my temporary replacement for my Silverado. I got a 1997 Ford Exploder with 167,000 miles for $2500. A crappy Ford wasn't what I expected to get but it is what it is.

Now this phase is done. By buying used I am debt free and able to save up a good down payment for a 2010 Chevy Silverado. I also might get some extra green after I am done with the physical therapy on my back and neck.
