  1. My car has 80,000 miles on it and i bought it new. I also drive it about 5 miles per day I guess thats not good for it.
  2. I took it to valvoline instant oil change. They suck out the transmission fluid from the transmission cooler lines and put new fluid in. Should i get the filer replaced? there is no dipstick on this car for the transmission.
  3. If I start my car and let it warm up for 2 min in the cold weather it slips very bad. I have to rev it up to 4000 rpm just to get the car to move But if i start my car and take off right away. I dont get the transmission slipping problem. I did have the transmission fluid change but not the filter. its a 99 malibu with a 2.4 thanks
  4. I think im going to trade in my 99 malibu for the 2009 aveo5 with a 5 speed manual. does it have anti lock brakes standard?
  5. I found out where the noise is coming from. A peace of rubber that holds the ac tube to the frame came loose and is rubbing on the crank shaft pulley. Guess and I found the ac leak to:) update: I just found a wench in the engine compartment below the serpentine belt. I think its a gift from vioc. Next time i need a serpentine belt replaced i wont go to vioc.
  6. Im thinking of getting a 2009 aveo when they come out. but my car is paid for and the taxes are low on it so it wont be easy for me to give it up. I think the noise might be coming for the new serpentine belt. It took Valvoline Instant Oil Change 30 min. and 2 people to get the new belt on. Hope they didn't damage anything. The car seems to be running fine now. dont know why it runs bad sometimes.
  7. its almost 10 years old. I think going to trade it in for a new car. This car has so many problems. The front brake pads have to be replaced every 10,000 miles. fan speeds 1 and 2 dont work. AC dont work. ac would not stay on when it was working. they say its a good time to buy a new car anyway. I hope they have 0% interest rate car loans soon:) http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/Mal...999/index.shtml
  8. its not easy to change the plugs on this car. The coils sit on top of the plugs. The dealer said the plugs are good for 100,000 miles. driving my car 5 miles a day might not be good for the plugs or my car.
  9. It idles rough when its cold. it also makes some kind of ticking noise. but it runs fine when the outside temp is above 40 degree F. I had the trans fluid changed at Valvoline Instant Oil 2 weeks ago. There is no dip stick for the trans on this car:( I can bring it back there and they will check it for free. i hope i can keep this car another year or 2.
  10. I have a 99 chevy malibu with 2.4. 78000 miles. When its below 40 degrees its hard to get the car moving. 3000rpm gets me around 2 mph. it runs fine after it has warmed up for 5 min. Above 40 degrees the car runs fine. I hooked up a scan gage to it and could not see a problem. can the spark plugs cause this problem? I never replaced them. thanks
  11. I had a serpentine belt replaced and that seems to have fixed all my problems. Ac works fine now. Guess i dont have to buy a new car now.
  12. I think i will just keep driving it without ac. The car still runs good. I just hope the water pump is good. I guess if it goes bad i can walk 2 mile to work.
  13. now my ac pump makes a grinding sound:( now my car has no ac after 9 years:(. Im thinking about buying a new chevy aveo. But i only drive about 5 miles a day and my malibu is paid for. Should i fix it or get a new car? thanks
  14. I added no coolent to it. It allways has coolent in the plastic tank.. I think its ok i hope. How long do these water pumps last? I should buy me a new malibu:)
  15. a year ago Someone at autotire told me my water pump weep hole was leaking coolent. Where is the weep hole on this car? I cant even find the water pump. I have not had to add any coolent to this car. was to guy just trying to make some money? its a 99 malibu 2.4 with 78.000 miles. thanks
