Mercedes-Benz has annouced that the new Maybach SUV, built on the Mercedes-Benz GLS will be built exclusively in Alabama. With an expected price over $200,000, the new SUV will then be the most expensive vehicle to be built in the U.S. Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the Maybach brand to other models where it makes sense in the upper end of the Mercedes lineup. The Mercedes Maybach GLS will have a V8 with north of 560 horsepower and will likely debut in China later this year. BMW is losing a lot of ground in the flagship arena to Mercedes-Benz. To combat this, the Munich-based automaker is considering an ultra-luxury sedan that will sit between the 7-Series and the Rolls-Royce Ghost. "Just like certain competitors, we will see that we occupy with credible offers the price bracket of 150,000 euros ($170,000) and beyond," BMW development chief Klaus Froehlich to Automotive News. Froehlich also took a jab at Mercedes-Benz by saying BMW wouldn't offer several wheelbases or "varyingly thick chrome packages." Why is BMW wanting to take on Mercedes-Benz in ter

Starting next year, Mercedes-Benz is revising the names of a fair number of vehicles. This naming change shouldn't come as a shock to anyone - see Cadillac and Infiniti. Mercedes' reasons for the name change is to make their lineup a bit easier to understand and to make it easier to come up with a name for a new model. The majority of the changes will be focused on Mercedes' utility lineup as all models will wear the G, followed by a letter to signify class lines they are a part of. GLA – New small crossover based on the A-Class. (Unchanged) GLC – Currently the GLK GLE – Currently the M

A new report from Reuters says we'll get our first look at the new Maybach this November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and Guangzhou Motor Show. We've been hearing about the resurrection of the nameplate for the past few months, but weren't sure where it would fit in. Guesses pointed towards super S-Class with such amenities as reclining rear seats and folding tables. According to Reuters, the new Maybach will be a special version of the S-Class that will be 20 centimeters longer (about 7.8 inches longer) and will be the longest S-Class available till the return of the Pullman model. See if you can follow this logic: Mercedes-Benz creates an ultra-luxury brand called Maybach to compete with the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The company really doesn't do much with the brand aside from introducing a number of special editions, showing off the Exelero concept, and having Jay-Z and Kayne West cut one up in a music in a music video. After ten years, Mercedes decides to kill of the brand due to lackluster sales. In its place will be a super S-Class wearing the Maybach nameplate?! According to Autoweek, this could happen. The new super S-Class could be wearing the Maybach na
