Ford has unveiled the Bronco R race prototype at the SEMA auto show today. This prototype strongly hints at the direction the new Bronco will go in terms of appearance and shape. Bronco won at Baja in 1969, so for the 50 year anniversary, the prototype will go back to the Baja Peninsula later this month to take a near 1,000 mile off-road course to challenge the powertrain and architecture. The Bronco R is built on a modified version of the production body-on-frame platform. Watch for more Bronco news in the coming months. View full article

Kia has never offered a performance variant of the Forte sedan, tending to reserve that for the coupe and Forte5 hatchback. But that is changing as Kia has introduced the Forte GT sedan at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The transformation from a stock compact sedan to a sport compact begins under the hood. The 2.0L four-cylinder with 147 horsepower has been swapped for the turbocharged 1.6L four producing 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. If you thought that the 840 horsepower HEMI found under the Dodge Challenger Demon wasn't enough, then Mopar would like to introduce you to a new crate motor that made its debut yesterday at the SEMA Show. This is the "Hellephant", a 426 cubic inch HEMI V8 with a 3.0L twin-screw supercharger producing 1,000 horsepower and 950 pound-feet of torque on 93 octane pump gas. Muscle car fans will know 426 is an iconic number for Chrysler as the automaker offered this engine in 1964 for a number of models including the Dodge Dart and Plymouth Fury. If we were to award the most outrageous concept from an OEM at SEMA 2018, then Honda would be walking away with it thanks to the Rugged Open Air Vehicle concept. You might be thinking this just a large side-by-side utility vehicle. Well, yes and no. While a number of parts are borrowed from Honda Powersports' Pioneer 1000 like the doors and steering wheel, the mechanicals are provided from the Ridgeline. This is evident when you look inside as the shape of the dash and instrument are the same. No word on what powers the Rugged Open Air Vehicle concept, but we would guess it is the 3.5L V6

Street-oriented performance trucks like the Ford Lightning, Dodge Ram SRT-10, and Toyota X-Runner don't exist. Instead, we have off-road performance models like the Ford F-150 Raptor and Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. But Chevrolet has imagined what a modern performance truck could look like at the SEMA Show. The Chevrolet Silverado Performance Concept certainly looks the part with a lowered suspension, Satin Steel Gray paint, a new hood, air ducts, and a set of 22-inch wheels. Under the hood is a 5.3L V8 that uses the intercooled supercharger from the Camaro ZL1 and Corvette Z06. The supercharge

If you wanted to drop FCA's monstrous Hellcat supercharged V8 into a project vehicle of yours, you needed to go down to your local salvage yard to rip one out of a Charger or Challenger Hellcat that met a premature end. But that will be changing this week at the SEMA Show. Mopar has announced that it will be seeling a crate version of the Hellcat engine. There will also be a Mopar “Hellcrate” HEMI Engine Kit that includes the necessary items to make for an easier swap such as a wiring harness, powertrain control module. oxygen sensors, fuel pump control module, and other bits. With Dodge bringing back the Scat Pack packages for a number of their models, it has also brought back a dispute that dates back to 1968. Automotive News reports that Chrysler is being sued by Scat Enterprises Inc., for infringing on their 50-year-old 'Scat' trademark. The suit revives a dispute between the two companies that dates back to 1968. In 1968, Dodge started using the Scat Pack name on a number of their models. 2013 SEMA Show: Chevrolet Reveals The Silverado Cheyenne Concept
William Maley posted an article in Chevrolet
William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 3, 2013 Years ago, automakers and enthusiasts were enthralled with the likes of high-performance pickup trucks. Models such as the Chevrolet 454SS, GMC Syclone, Ford Lightning, and Dodge Ram SRT-10. But as time went on, the trucks and the interest drifted away. However, the idea of high-performance pickups could be coming back. Just before the opening of the SEMA show, Chevrolet unveiled the Silverado Cheyenne concept. The Silverado Cheyenne concept takes a standard regular-cab Silverado and drops in a 6.2L EcoTec V8 with 420 horsepo
