  1. Sorry, but that sound like another one of those We-Put-More-Thought-Into-This-Rather-Than-Making-Sure-Our-Cars-Don't-Fry-Or-Break-Down Mercedes things as of late.

    [post="64272"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Actually, it is one of my favorite features. "Flash-to-Pass" is what it is technically called, and GM needs it across the lineup.
  2. PLUS.....how come GM STILL refuses to give us a "cancel" function for our cruise control?

    Tapping the brakes briefly lights up the brake lights....(not good if you see a cop coming up behind you) and moving the shifter into neutral and back seems unnatural.  Also, turning the cruise "off" without tapping the brakes cancels the cruise memory function....

    EVERYONE else I can think of gives us a "cancel" button for the cruise that kicks it off without forgetting your cruise setting.

    Cadillac has this. Has for a long time. I'll have to check, but I think the 1982 has it.

    That said, is it really that hard to just accelerate up to cruising speed and turn it on? I have a cancel function in the M-Class but I never use it.
  3. I agree with you, Croc.  My C6 has what I call a "modified" version of the typical GM stalk.....the wipers are on the right-hand side, but the headlights and foglights are still on the turn-signal stalk and cumbersome at BEST to use....I hate it.....AND they've STILL packaged the cruise functions on there as well.....

    All the headlight functions, plus the "auto" setting, the DRL "cancel" setting, the foglights, and the normal lights are split between two rotating "dials" on the turn-signal stalk.

    The best I've seen is the Benz (and similar BMW) headlight dial on the dash.  Turn the dial to the right to activate the lights you want (off, auto, parking lights, on) and pull the dial OUT to activate the foglights.  When you turn the dial "off" it automatically goes IN and turns off the foglights as well.....simple, intuitive, and easy to use.....

    OK you just contradicted yourself (bold for emphasis):

    Nah nothings wrong with you.  Some people like some things and others like other things...

    Personally, I prefer cruise control on the steering wheel or in the "Toyota" position on the right lower side of the column.....and wipers on the right had side.  I don't mind headlights on the turn-signal stalk.

    Now I don't know what Benz system you've used (top quote), but my headlights are not on the dash, now would I want them to be. They are a twist function on the end of the signal stalk. You literally turn the end of the stalk and it clicks out. You pull the stalk to flash brights. Signals work as they usually do. Keeps it handy and convenient, no need to take eyes off the road at all.
  4. I like one stalk that takes care of it all.  Anything else just gets in the way, and you end up turning on windshield wipers while making left turns, or washing your windshield when you really want the "mist" function.

    Also, I hate it when the headlight controls are on the stalk.

    [post="63699"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    Yea none of that has ever happened to me. How would you turn on wipers when making left turns? That's as ludicrous as suggesting one changes gears on right turns with a column shifter.
  5. They suck pretty badly. I like the setup in my M-Class. One stalk for lighting on the left. One stalk for wipers and washing on the right. Finally, there's one small, thin stalk for cruise control at about the 10 position behind the wheel. Easy, convenient, never take the eyes off the road. The one in my father's 2000 DHS is similar to the top one pictured, and it is horrible. I always have to look at it to figure out how to do the wipers/washer fluid. The ergonomics aren't even that great once you figure it out. Using the washer fluid is AWKWARD.
  6. No... overall, I don't think their cars are all that competitive if you take price out of the equation.

    I love GM... but its a love hate relationship. They have such great potential with their products but ALWAYS seem to find a way to f*ck it all up.

    I think most GM fans are like me too... They may try to blame it on the media, on consumers, or whoever... but deep down everybody knows that GM has a great capacity to shoot themselves in the foot.

    BINGO
  7. <_<  ithink that if you say that gm is not a competitive brand so what about your picture of a mercury?

    mercury is almost the worst brand of the entire world :lol:

    [post="63338"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    I think the Milan, Montego, Mariner, Mountaineer, Monterey and Grand Marquis are quite a bit more competitive than the EV-1, thank you very much!

    Obviously GM as a company is more competitive than Mercury, a mere brand :rolleyes:
  8. No actually we gift exchanged late last night, and I got Miami Vice Season 2 on DVD...That put me in a much better mood, especially after watching The Prodigal Son. I think I can handle the rest of today without copius amounts of liquor now...and tonight will be spent with my favorite side of the family! EDIT: yea...that wasn't superficial-sounding :rolleyes:
  9. Yeah don't go twisting it around to me, Paulie...There have been some words said to ensure that I will actually be getting people Christmas gifts next year, instead of being told: "you are getting this for ___, this for ___, and this for ___, so wrap it up and then do you want to give the ___ or the ___ to your father?" Believe me...I'm not the one making it superficial :rolleyes: --- My family is much less fucked up than they have turned our house into some sort of bed and breakfast for extended family that I am forced to be in very close contact as a result of some circumstances beyond my control. I just want some fucking peace and quiet for ONE DAY...I haven't gotten that since arriving home a week ago. Seriously...cant wait til New Year!
  10. ok alcohol withdrawel shouldnt be causing the shakes....i def dont recall that in the alcohol unit of health class...if youre taking any other kind of substance, its that. i know heroin and cocaine can give people shakes, as can some forms of X........i mean i guess its possible it could be the alcohol, but i really think id remember something like that.

    good luck with it

  11. Yup, I think it was a dorm pic.  He was looking up into the camera--someone took the picture from above (he was sitting).

    That's strange that I don't remember posting that, but that is a pic I had on the comp so I believe y'all...heh can't say I look much like that these days though.
  12. Don't deny it, you have. :D I specifically remember you posting your picture. Unless... you posted a pic of someone else to claim as yourself?. Anyways, I also remember thinking how young you looked (I thought you were much older at the time). I was surprised... :P Damn maturity.

    I honestly don't recall. I literally have had three pictures of myself on my computer so if you described it I could tell you, but I can't imagine ever posting anything like that on this site...
  13. Oh, but you have before. I remember what you look like. Yes, yes I do. Muahaha... :AH-HA_wink:

    Actually, I don't believe I have. But it doesn't really matter because I look nothing like I did a few years ago...
  14. Would not the Aztek and Rendevous be defined as crossovers?

    [post="61868"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

    I've always called them such...they really aren't minivans what with their limited seating and lack of sliding doors...
  15. Well, the first was used in 1998 with the Lexus, BMW and MB SUVs. Then the Pacifica was a crossover, and that's minivan-based. Then the CSVs adopted the "crossover" phrase very loosely.
