Maybe, I believe he is now an equal to Kruse. Where Kruse is responsible for putting the whole vehicle together, Reuss is responsible for getting the pieces right that Kruse will integrate. The two orgs must work hand in hand. Kruse's org will identify issues at the proving grounds and root cause the concern and Reuss's org will have to make the necessary changes to the components.

It is not the case. This is just streamlining operations.

As an owner of a CTS and having driven the E46 3 Series, I have a right to say that the BMW as a driving machine is more enganging. The BMW is the better driver's car overall. The CTS with the 3.6 and sport suspension does come very very close though. Besides being a Cadillac fan, the reason I drive the CTS over a BMW is one reason. Exterior styling. It is cool and it's different. It appeals to me. That is not to say it is the better of the two cars. The BMW overall is a better car not factoring in price and size and many of the issues with the CTS the magazines bring up are accurate. And the interior of the CTS is not worthy of a Pontiac much less a Cadillac. But you know what, I am happy with the car and it has not been back into the shop once. But that still does not mean the CTS is the better of the two cars objectively speaking. I hope that close this debate.

The program has not been delayed. Timing just has been firmed up since I looked into the issue. The SOP is not off by much from what I originally stated.
-
The CTS replacement is still on a 5 year product cycle + or - a few months. You should not get your panties in a tither because of some info that I posted since I last looked into the issue has changed. You have to remember the current GMX 320 is only going into its 4th full year in production after the close of the year. Yes, the info I posted was wrong and has changed, but it is not off by years, or a year. It is not off enought to even worry about the program or its status.

Timing has since changed from last I looked into it. AH-HA is correct.

I would like to see DPH file as well. For the US Big 3 that is not an option because of the investor ramification but if DPH files, there most certainly be positive carry over affects for them long term. Even if GM has to absorb some of the short term obligationed cost from the initial split and possible payout, farther out they will be in a better position to negotiate and reduce their labor burden. In a nut shell, the days of big labor in this industry are over. I also see the potential ramification in Europe. The playing field has to be leveled.
-
We may be on the cusp of significant labor restructuring in the auto business in America. I anxiously await what happens at DPH. I expect this to set the pattern not only for other suppliers but for the US Bg 3 aggreements. Implications may not be good for the UAW and retirees. Could also have ramifications for retired white collar staff as well.

Nah - there are other options.

NS: I am just speculating like everybody else. No twists here. I want to get to the bottom of this just like everybody else.

Add two doors and make the Velite the Lucerne replacement. I do not see a demand for another 2+2 coupe/convertible in the $35k segment. How many would they sell in an already saturated coupe market. The only reason why I would keep the GTO is because I assume it would be a global program. Otherwise I see no need for it. Plus if GM ever decides to make a CTS coupe, where would that go in the larger portfolio. The Velite makes no sense when I look at the big picture. That is unless they can figure out how to make the Velite global and share the body with an Opel.

Don't know for certain yet, but what I listed is the most logical vehicles. As for the wagon, I loved the 1999 Nomad concept and I have ranting for years here that I thought that would have been a break through car for them. But Dodge beat them to it. I think wagons will make a come back and the Magnum shows there is a decent size market for that sort of vehicle. Last Feb when I posted that Camaro Sigma thing I also said they should produce the Nomad to get added volume off the platform. Just my thoughts.

I think Duramax production capacity was an issue.
-
This is the most likely senario: Belair in addition to the Impala. (I can go both ways on this one. I have a tough time rationalizing GM moving the Impala to rwd. Too much volume to throw to the wind with a radical departure for a traditional, conservative market.) Chevy coupe to replace the Monte (call it what you want) Station Wagon aka Magnum G8 GTO Buick to replace Lucerne Built in Oshawa 2. Oshawa 1 may move to EpsII LWB Impala and Buick Lacrosse GM closes D-Ham Cadillac will probably replace the DTS with the BLS for NA.
-
Let make this realistic. Release date for first vehicle in 2009. More importantly, what vehicles will the rwd replace and what will be new models with projected volumes. Build a business and not pipe dream.

Na . . . I would fight them on a trademark violations.

GM's Epsilon 2 platform might bring diesels to U.S
evok replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
Here is what I am figuring based on fact and fiction: Oshawa 1 will convert to eps II (Lacrosse and Impala) and Oshawa II will go RWD in the 2009 - 2010 time frame. I just don't know what GM will eventually do with the D-Ham vehicles and the plant itself. The only thing I can guess at is that it will produce overflow EPSII and TE vechicles. -
GM's Epsilon 2 platform might bring diesels to U.S

We are in rumour phase at the moment. Chi seems to be shelved. But it appears that may be the directions where the Impala moves to the lwb EpII platform instead of Chi. -
Let us leave the past in the past - great stuff is a coming from the general. The sleeping giant is awakening.

GM's Epsilon 2 platform might bring diesels to U.S
evok replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
Let me translate: Demant also said GM has increased the range of dimensions on Epsilon 2. The front overhang has increased by 3 or 4 inches on the european cars to commonize with the current US vehicles and comform to US frontal occupant protection requirements thereby harmonizing the architecture globally. -
I would not read into the commercial picture. It is a scale clay model that is only about a foot or so long. The clay is actualy only a 1/2 vehicle sitting next to a mirror giving the ellusion that it is a full clay.

Don't believe the propaganda. Hmm I am thinking "Green Day".

I do not contadict myself though I simplified my comments for the audiance that does not have a working knowledge of VDP. It all depends on when you start the clock as to how long it takes to get a product to market. Tooling can be kicked off before design freeze.

The Brochures were probably created as a task for the up coming season of the Apprentice. Heck, that is what you get from free labor and free advertising. Gotta cut cost somehow!
