Stock old musclecars aren't exactly pleasant to drive...horrific ergonomics (fixed steering wheels, seats that only go fore/aft, random control placement, etc), single outside mirrors, primitive brakes, AM radios, etc... I've had experience driving cars such as my brother's '68 Camaro SS 396 and my own '69 Mustang 351 I inherited; they are fun for the occasional spin, but far too crude and unrefined for frequent use...modern muscle cars are refined enough to use as a daily driver...

I guess we all have a different view, but I love driving my '71 Challenger. I drove it cross country once and it was a blast. Yeah, not as comfy as my '09 but still fun. I don't think they are as bad as people make them out to be.

Yet another useless wing on a Mustang with ground effects...especially when an LX was FASTER!!!

This one is channeling its inner ricer PONTIAC TRANS AM

But the thing is....MUSCLE CARS ARE RICE!!!!

What I wanted to point out is that from 2016 to 2012 to 2001 to 1990 to 1976, the Mustang sells to the adolescent crowd because well.....MUSCLE CAR!!!

    SO...I REPEAT....GTFO WITH THAT SHYTE!!!

Love those oldies Oldhurstolds. Great photos. Down the street from me there is a '68 442 convertible in blue metallic. They sure don't make them like that anymore. I still prefer vintage over new.

As far as Challengers go, the one I'd buy is a Challenger R/T w/ the Shaker package....the dealer had one in the showroom when I bought my GC a couple weeks ago, white w/ black scoop, red and black interior, manual.  Perfect...maybe I'll get one for my midlife crisis in 3 years when I hit an age milestone...

Shaker's are cool. I thought about trading my RT for one in B5 blue but life had other ideas.

    Those look so terrible...

And you'd road trip the Demon?!?!

Tesla has a service built in to find their supercharger stations. If you decide to stray that far away from them, that's your own fault.

A drag strip special(while insane in its own way) is more of a one trick pony than a family sedan.

No in all honesty I wouldn't want to road trip the Demon unless my options were limited, Not even sure about the Hellcat. I don't need that kind of power. but the truth is, it would be easier doing a road trip in a Demon or Hellcat than trying to plan a route that would guarantee charging station's to replenish a Tesla's battery. I think the Tesla is a fine auto but I don't have the resources to spend that kind of money for basically, a wet dream, and I doubt I would spend time at the track with one.

As far as Tesla's charging station's, You are still limited. How many are there and are they located in high population areas of the country or are they in rural areas too? I like to wonder and...Well...That's just the way it is.

    Different strokes as they say.

your point was charge times. I got that. That's a ridiculous comparison.

I guess it all depends on your definition of rediculous. My view of rediculous is spending 130,000+dollars on something that to be honest has a limited use. You can't honestly tell me you would take one on a road trip. What happens if you can't find a place to recharge the battery? That leaves an expensive work commuter, but your ego will get a boost when all the eggheads at the office ohhh and ahhh your high dollar tinker toy. Or, you can go to the track every weekend and show off your ludicris mode, but make sure you use care not to overheat the car or it will shut down or...

The Tesla is a great car for people with huge egos and small...

Agreed that all cars are expensive but $29k for a Cruze is crazy.  You can get a decently equipped Camry for that and the Camry will hold value like crazy, even if it drives like crap.   I guess they have the Sonic and Spark for cheap cars, but as they push Cruz up market, then you have to push Malibu up, and then Impala gets squeezed and eliminated.

I wonder how much top of the line Corolla's are selling for? I don't really think about it as Toyota isn't my top go to brand when new car shopping, but I have notice a surge in new car prices. A 29k Cruze may not be such a bad deal.

  7. Yawn. It's funny how every five year old car owner races against the Challenger and wins. Seems like the Challenger is the car to beat. Must be a pathetic existence to have to lie all the time to build up your 100,000 dollar Milton Bradley play toy.

I joined this thing to enjoy back in forth with people who enjoy Mopar's, Ford's, and GM's. Companies that have a rich history, something worth bragging about. You will never understand. Too bad for you.

@oldshurst442 You stated that well! :metal:

Be interesting to see what GM and Ford do to answer or if they answer. :scratchchin:

Love the spec and I have to think this is a 100K auto that collectors will snatch up.

GM dealers are getting a Hennessey Motorsport's prepped Camaro called 'The Exorcist' at a $55,000 premium over the stock ZL1, and Roush is offering a P51 Mustang tuner. Didn't get all the details but a Google search turns up all of them quickly.

I will take the Challenger all the way, but in reality, A Shaker edition Challenger would be just fine.

funny, i walk every chally-wacker with my p100d, with range to spare. the only thing that burns is their red faces.

but hey let's all support the frivolities of an automaker that rabbit-eared its pockets, bilked taxpayers and all they have to show for it are fiat panda-based jeeps and 12-year old muscle cars that none of its fans can afford!!!

LOL, someone is butthurt, and a dreamer as well. I'll race you cross country with my 370 hp R/T and I bet I kick your arse. I will laugh my ass off when your stuck in the middle of no where with no place to charge the electric turd. You could saved yourself a ton of money and bought a Leaf.

  9. I read somewhere that the Chrysler wagon was one of Lennons favorite cars.

At one of the now defunct record stores in the town where I live, there was a poster with George Harrison sitting in a 1964 Plymouth Fury. I always wondered if it was his car.

  10. I own a 5.7 Challenger R/T. I love it, but could a V6 Chally replace it? Sure. Why not? It's is a rare event when I get a chance to stretch the Hemi's legs. It's my go to car for road trips, and on rare occasions I drive it down some winding, twisting mountain roads near where I live, but that is usually a waste of time because of the number of families out for a weekend cruise on the same mountain roads that muck-up any opportunity for me to unwind the Challenger, and that is the problem. There really isn't any safe legal way to reach the potential of these cars unless one spends his weekends at the track, drives dangerously, or temps fate with the local law enforcement and most people have little time for that, so most of these cars are really nothing more than daily driver's, and who really cares if it is a V8 or V6?

  11. LOL. This dribble has more holes in it than the author's head. Sorry but I owned a 1984 Daytona Turbo, '86 Turbo Z, '87 Shelby Z. My brother owned a 1984 Daytona Turbo, '85 Turbo, and now has my Shelby Z. My mom owned a Turbo Lazer. My brother and I never lost a race to Z28 Camaro, Trans Am, or 5.0 Mustang and we had far less problems with our cars than any of the competition. Want a list of all my friends who had to replace engines under warranty on their GM and Ford products in the eighties.

By the way, I replaced the timing belt on my Shelby Z at 96,000 miles. It far outlasted the 5.0's in several of my friends Fox Mustangs or several Z28's that suddenly lost a cylinder.

How about writing an article on the biggest 1980's POS ever...The Pontiac Fiero, or Fire-ero.
