  1. the press is good guys, but be objective here. MT COTY awards are stupid. which car won last year?
  2. its not like they are having a difficult time selling the current impala.
  3. one of the problems that Cadillac has is that it belongs to GM, and GM sells a spectrum of cars and shares parts and platforms. BMW on the other hand is BMW, nothing else. Yes the MINI is included, but its a British namesake, so they give it a free pass. The Sigma is a good start because it belongs only to Cadillac. However, a Kappa based car will be mentioned along the same lines as Vauxhall, Opel, Pontiac, and Saturn. Thus they will not be taken seroulsy. The XLR gets a free pass because it looks great and shares a Corvette platform, however, it gets dismissed on its own merits of a lackluster interior and not so great driving dynamics compared with the 6 series, SL, or Jag. plus, europeans will always have a geniune dislike for anything american. whether its music, cars, or food.
  4. With the old OHV engines, GM used to have so much more torque. The HP ratings with these engines is impressive, but I would rather see the torque closer to 300.
  5. anyone else in here think they were going to read about a G6 areo package?
  6. chris, are you a pharmacist or just found of drug names? now, nameing the aura wagon XR would have made much more sense. XR = eXtended release SR = sustained release CR = controlled release
  7. The one that I test drove was about 28K, had leatherette, and a sunroof. it did not have the engine or transmission capabilities of the aura, but the interior and refinement was much nicer.
  8. took at look at this car on saturday... nice, i like its outside looks, love the six speed, and appreciate the 3.6, but the interior is great for a GM car, just not great overall. i also looked at a passat. their prices are compariable and the interior of the passat is so much nicer.
  9. the trailblazer had the worst interior on the market when I drove it 3 years ago, and today, it still has the worst interior on the market.
  10. Why are there spoilers on the STS and CTS? Veru tacky...
  11. Was at the RenCen yesterday, they have the Concept SS on display if anyone in the Detroit area is interested. This thing is beautiful, the nicest looking sedan I have ever seen. Even better looking that the Maserati or Aston Martin Raptide. BTW, this current Malibu looks nothing like the SS, except maybe for the Audi-like grill. If the new Impala looks like this, WOW.
  12. as soon as word gets out that Toyota is Number 1 they are doomed. The media will be all over them, closely monitoring all of their mistakes. And the bigger you are, the harder you fall. Just ask GM. Toyota is no longer that little Japanese company that could, they are now the big 500 pound gorilla on the block. People love an underdog, and Toyota cannot keep that small company charm forever, sooner of later, they will get the microscope treatment. Where it was cool to buy a Toyota over a Chevy because your father drove a Chevy... Well, fathers and grandfathers now drive Toyotas, they are not cool anymore, they have become the status quo. You will get enough people saying that they would rather drive a Chevy Malibu and be differnet than their father who drove a Camry.
  13. Looks as big and very close to the Lucerene to me.
  14. Guys, this makes no sense. This thing looks just as big as the the Lucerene, and looks like it is a rebadge of the Lucerene. Comparing it to the other vehicles on the road shot next to it sort of confirms this. I honestly don't understand this. Wasn't there some sort of pictures or drawings of spy Malibu shots hanging out on the net some time ago? If someone still has them, please post them. I do not remember those looking like a Lucerene. Could they just be using the Lucerene as a mule? But that does not make sense either because of how nicely done the door panels, rear, and grill look. I would be more than happy if the current Impala was redone as an Lucerene rebadge untill it moved to RWD in the near future as I currenty loath the way the current Impala looks. But that does not make any sense either as they spent so much money on the current Impala and it has been selling nice and relatevely reviewed with posistive snipits from the press. If this the new Malibu, then why would anyone buy the current Impala? If its as big or bigger (as it appears in these specific photos) and it looks a whole lot nicer. Unless by the time this comes out the Impala would have been moved to RWD looking like something made by Holden. But even then, the Impala is a mass market vehicle with potential to hit over 400,000 units per year (with fleet) and Holden does not have that sort of capacity, and the UAW would not allow it. This car does borrow slight styling clues from the SS concept car, but it does not have the curvy overhangs or the masculine stance. Sorry guys, but this appears to be a rebadge of the Lucerene, so we can expect the same ole horizontal dash setup, FWD, 3800 pushrod, hydramatic 4 speed, and boat-like steering wheel. However, I do hope that I am wrong, I am just not going to hold my breath over it. These pictures are very confusing and only cloud the future of RWD for Chevy.
