I cannot wait to get the the seats and switches so I can do the entire interior. Then All I need to do is figure out how to replace the door handles with the chrome ones.

What's your favorite Transformers Series?

Well the tailor was kind of a paradox, since he doesn't use it in robot form as far as I remember. Optimus Primal from Beast Wars was a gorilla. At the time lots of people didn't like that because Optimus Prime was a truck. There's a saying that went: "Trukk not munky" To that I say... Trukk and munky...and playne. -
So, I voted for McCain.... Because he's white.
Intrepidation replied to FUTURE_OF_GM's topic in The Lounge
I voted based on qualifications and the candidate's understanding of the current problems and potential ability to bring a handle on them. I voted because the candidate genuinely seemed to care about the people and not just about their own personal agenda or the large corporations. I voted for this candidate based on his proposals and plans have the potential to benefit me for once and not big business and the rich. I voted for this candidate because he actually has the potential to fix all of the bridges we burned with our allies over the past 8 years. I voted for this candidate because he has shown the ability to not only stay level-headed and remain calm and composed, but that he truly inspires people, something I don't think any president has done since JFK. I voted for several other reasons. I DID NOT vote based on something as petty , stupid, and pointless, as race. If McCain had appealed to me in the way Obama does I would have voted for him. He did not, so I voted for Obama. I don't care what the color of someone's skin is, and it seems that the majority of America is finally seeing it that way as well. I believe their were headlines in Europe that summed up the election results as "On giant leap for mankind." It shows that at long last we can put aside such stupid things as t eh color of our skin and make a choose based on ideas we believe in, and choosing what we feel is the most qualified person to get the job done. Of course someone will argue that minorities voted for him based on race. Maybe so, but I'd like to point out two things: 1.) People voted for McCain based on race, as you just admitted, and 2.) people who are not minorities voted for him not based on race, but because they believe he is the best man for the job, people like me. -

Certainly agreement about Japan's experience with giant robot shows. The movie's big problem is that it was too focused on the humans...as in their were way too many human characters. Hopefully the sequel will focus more on the robots. -
You people do realize it will take more than 4 years to fix this mess of a country right? It doesn't happen overnight.

What's your favorite Transformers Series?

Yes, everything that followed Beast Machines has pretty much sucked. Armada I heard got better as the series progressed but it started out terribly with a slow moving plot and poor animation quality after episode 1. Energon and Cybertron had lots of problems because their were many errors in translation, haphazard voice work, and the CGI was downright primitive compared to the older CGI of the Beast Era. I haven't even bothered to watch Animated...I don't like the Teen Titans (read: American style trying too hard to be anime style without the details) style. -
I'd just like to go on record as saying this: I'm all for the 25 billion loans to help out the automakers. However, GM can itself trying to get the money to take over and kill Chrysler. If that happens I'd never by a GM product again, and would resort to buying used, or a Ford or Nissan product. Cerberus is plenty to blame for this, as they are no doubt pushing GM to do it, but be that as it may, if GM does it I wish them no good will. Besides, it's a suicidal move on GM's part. With all of this speculation that is being done it is hurting Chrysler even more, as many people to buy from a company that may not exist soon. Cerberus, in it's impatient haste will kill Chrysler...but then it can be argued that Chrysler died in 1998 when the Germans took it over and began raping it for what it was worth, and dumping the leftovers when it was done with it.

On second though I don't like one more than the other...the Camaro concepts and Challenger concepts are equally badass.

I like those a lot. However... I like these even better.

Agreed! Always thought the Beasties name was kinda silly sounding...you Canadians. Did the characters refer to it was the Beast Wars in the actual show? Season 1 Was from "Beast Wars Part I" to "Other Voices Part 2" Season 2 was "Aftermath" to "The Agenda Part 3" Season 3 was "Optimal Situation" to "Nemesis Part 2" -
We got "hood-winked" when we were stupid enough to elect Bush and the reelect him. Although I wasn't able to vote in 2000 and I voted Kerry in `04.

I know right? I have Optimus, Starscream, and Ramjet hanging around in pieces because I didn't take care of them when I was little. Ashame, I always loved my Starscream toy. Of course if I could find enough of Starscream I could buy the parts to rebuild him...lots of pieces of him for sale on ebay. Nice how the re-imagined the toys with more modern designs (they can move their legs now!). -

Technically Beast Wars was 3 seasons. Beast Wars is my favorite series for many reasons. The fact that it was CGI meant that it could do things that were impossible with G1 and basically ever series that followed. They made excellent use of the 3D medium. The animation of Beast Wars (and Beast Machines) puts all other series the followed (besides the movie of course) to shame. More than just that, I loved the character roster, and character development that I don't think was seen in any other series (including the movie) besides the sequel. This is of course thanks to the smaller cast of characters. It had an excellent story that was complex and all its own while managing to make ties to the original Transformers series (how cool was it when they discovered the Ark?). Beast wars also managed to straddle the line where younger kids could enjoy it but it didn't feel overly childish, so older fans could enjoy it as well. When I was a kid I only saw a few of the the G2 series, it was Beast Wars that I grew up with. Beast Machines was good too, but I don't like what the writers did to the characters (especially RatTrap, Megatron, Silverbolt, and Optimus), plus it always felt like it has religious/treehugger overtones to it. Plus, Cybertron is Primus' body...how could it have an organic core? -
Agreed, and we need a place to post the eye candy!

A little random but a nice distraction from all of the negativity these days. I know there's some Transformers fans among us, so what's your favorite series and why? I've been watching a marathon of my favorite series lately when I have time, so I got prompted to ask.

I don't really want to get into politics but I feel I must point something about this idea of "robbing the rich" CBS posted poll results taken of people who make over $200,000 annually and asked if they were in favor of Obama's tax increases. The majority said yes. Here is the thing: for quite some time now the rich and large corporations have been getting the tax breaks. Now it's time for the common people like you and me, who actually need tax breaks to have a turn. It's like a cycle, and we need it far more than they do. Do you think raised taxed on a millionaire is going to hurt them? Highly doubtful, and according to that poll, the majority of those with income over $200,000 seem to understand that. Besides, they'll get tax breaks again, when the cycle comes full circle. While I agree that there are certainly deadbeat losers in society in the lower income spectrum, I'm willing to bet most are hard working Americans trying to get by. People like you and I, who work our butts off making an honest living just trying to get by. We would benefit from tax cuts far more than "Joe the Millionaire" in his mansion with 2 Jags and a Veyron. I would also argue that there are greedy and corrupt people earning very large income. So it's not like either side is without it's faults. -- Just a reply to one of your statement last night about keeping jobs in: Obama has said that he would give tax breaks to companies who create and keep jobs in America, and raise taxed for those who outsource. http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/barack_obama_tax_reform.htm Also here: http://www.wnct.com/nct/news/politics/arti...x_breaks/20990/ Not trying to get into an argument, just my :twocents:

I completely agree that with the election now over it's time to get back to discussing cars. I've been going to Autoblog for car news, since C&G hasn't been very good at posting news about the automotive world lately.

Well you know, it's WIP...I do it as I get the spare change to do it. Yes the door panels, center console and dash are unique to the 300M. I'm keeping my panels for now., but I will one of these days pocket all of the chrome switches to install them and replace my black plastic ones. The back with chrome rings gauge cluster is from a Concorde...got it at 50 Dollar Day. I still have the white gauges and if I ever feel like it I can swap them back, but I like the classy chrome rings. Nice things is that the electronic guages will read the actual mileage of the car regardless of the cluster...I guess it's stored in the car's computer. Technology can be good. It really is extremely comfortable. I've never been big on leather...cloth was always fine to me, but the 300M's leather seats are just so much more comfortable. They must be shaped differently and with softer padding...I feel like I sit "in" the chairs and not so much "on" them. I knew that day I had to have them ion my car someday.
-
Remember: I told you it has a new one now, so I'm pretty sure it would be a waste of money if it was gutted.

Can on of the admins or mods create a section for the 2008 SEMA Show? We're a car site and we don't have a section yet dedicated for this year's show. The election is over, time to start getting back to the business of talking about cars.
-
For a long time now I've wanted to do an interior swap of my car's with that of a 300M's ever since I sat in one and felt just how supple and more comfortable the leather was in it verses the cloth or even leather seats of Intrepids. A couple weeks ago I obtained teh first piece of that goal...a 300M leather armrest. Next I'd like to acquire the backseat since they are harder to come by than the front seats. Plus they are cheaper.

So I thought I'd post a few new pics of the car's interior cleaned out and with the trunk liner (which was falling apart) replaced... Also the replacement doors' panels have been swapped out for the matching gray panels from the original doors.
