  1. What is the point of having two motors that are so close in size and power? Does the 1.4T really deliver that much better fuel economy than the 1.8L?

Aside from that, I like it, and love the look of the interior. Is that an extra storage compartment on the passenger side of the dash, just above the glove compartment? It looks like there's a handle there, so the airbag would pop out of the top of the dash.

Only gripe as of right now is that the sedan looks really strange to me, almost foreign. The 5-door looks good though, and I like how they hid the doorhandles on the rear doors.

  2. Century still sold well last gen did it not? And look (and listen to) how horrid GM interiors were in that era. I think it will be ok but definitely a far cry from an is250. Its really a class of its own, for better or worse because of its wood trim and chrome. You won't find that amount of wood, chrome and tan in a compact Mazda, Ford, Honda, VW etc. Different strokes for different folks.

Keep in mind that the IS250 starts out at $32,145 whereas the A3 tops out at $30,850 (not including options).

  3. Why would it be in the Chevy first?

The Cruze came out first by about 2 years, so my guess is that they've had more time to fit it in there and do some testing with the engine in the Cruze first. And I feel like a Chevy is probably more deserving of a performance model than a Buick.

  4. exactly.

can someone email Buick and tell them the PLOOD looks ridiculous and is hideous and will be the subject of ridicule?

3300 pounds? no rear leg room? 31 mph? only an 8.0 second 0-60? why isn't the turbo here now? Where are the 3 door and 5 door and wagon?

    3300 lbs... average for class

Rear leg room... it's a compact car

31 MPG... okay they could've done better IMO

8.0sec... it's a small Buick and not called a GNX

Turbo... it's not even in the Chevy yet; why would it be in the Buick first?

Wagons... They always release one model first and have others follow. Why don't we have a 3 or 5 door Cruze? Look at the CTS.

  5. I'm copying this message I received, but please do help out with this. I have been volunteering time and money at Motherly Intercession for over 4 years now and would really, really be grateful to all of you if you consider giving the organization a vote!

    -----------

Hello everyone, I am requesting your help in order to receive a grant for the place where I tutor weekly, in Flint - Motherly Intercession. If you can vote daily, I would really appreciate it. See below:

Motherly Intercession needs your help! For those of you not familiar with the Organization, our mission is to provide support for the young, innocent children of incarcerated parents who are left behind when their mother's or father's go to jail or prison. We provide services through a variety of programs which include academic tutoring in reading, math, and computer technology, social and life skills training, arts and culture education, and family preservation.

We recently entered into the Pepsi Refresh Challenge where we are competing against other organizations around the country for $50,000. The funds from this grant would be used to renovate an existing computer lab and develop a technical training course for the children. In order to receive these funds we need to be ranked in the top ten when voting closes at the end of January. Please help us by voting daily for our project. Voting instructions are below.

    Go to www.refresheverything.com

Enter an email address and click on 'I'm new here'. Note: You will not receive any Spam

or e-mails from Pepsi unless you check the boxes designating that you would like to

    receive updates.

Fill out the required information and click 'Done'

Once you are logged in search for 'Motherly Intercession' in the search box in the upper

    right hand corner.

The results list will display our project title 'Renovate a Computer Lab for Children of

Incarcerated Parents'. Click the 'Vote for this idea' button to help get us one vote

closer to receiving the $50,000 grant. You can also learn more about Motherly

Intercession and the details of our project by clicking on the project title 'Renovate a

Computer Lab for Children of Incarcerated Parents.'

Remember to vote daily and Thank you for your help and support!

  6. It is real wood or fake wood?

Cadillac is using all real accents in its new cars. I can't comment on the seats though.

Does the trim on the door and dash line up nicely? I sat in one the other day and the fit and finish wasn't too great, and there was a large gap between the trim on the dash and the trim on the door. Specifically the air vent on the dash and wood trim on the door.

This comment really makes me torn. I'm super happy it's not perfect because it's our competitor's interior, but not at all happy because it's a Cadillac.

  7. Hmm, that's strange. I hate problems like that. I'm having the same problem with my Dodge, except electrical and not oil. It runs like $h!, wants to die... then suddenly when I want to test the voltage while it's dying out, it magically works. Jump on the road, and the fun starts all over again

  8. Got a source for that?

As far as the chop goes, nicely done. However, given the choice I would rather see the new Astra 3-door get sold here. Would be nice if we could get both. :)

Seconded on the source part. If there is confirmation of GM doing what I said in my last post within the next year, I will buy an $800 beater until then to make due and wait it out until I can sign for this.

  9. I'd like to know how they're going to add sales, let alone quadruple them.

Then again, 1000 x 4 = 4000. I'm sure they could hit 4000. What are their sales numbers?

    EDIT:

CYPRESS, Calif. - Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) today announced August sales of 4,293, which is the fourth highest monthly sales total for Mitsubishi this year.

Meh, I don't see them selling 17,000 in a month ever with this lineup. That's slightly more than Buick in August, and Buick's lineup is worlds better than Mitsubishi's.

  10. As muchas I hate to say it, this looks better than a Cobalt coupe. The trunk opening on the Cobalt is so small that it's hard to access the surprisingly huge trunk. It really should have been a hatchback anyway. The car in this chop simultaneously looks mature and sporty. I'd gladly take it as is.

I completely agree. Give me a nice metallic paint and that white trim interior on an LNF-powered 3-door hatchback SS (preferably with a 6-speed, but I could settle to row 5), and I would literally buy this without thinking twice or looking back.
