  1. I agree, I've always liked the Sky. Would have been nice to see it live on.

MDM I dunno who "confirmed" this to you, but the Kappa platform is dead. It was too costly and too inflexible, and was for a market that was too small in the current market to be worth spending money on.

I dunno about that ^, ...seems like you just described to a tee the Corvette market !!!

We will see what we see, & I agree....it would be real nice to have that platform as a stingray. The reasoning is to create a "entry level" vette, under 30K...then have the current corvette 40-60 k & a super car vette (ZR1) 100 K plus, all in the mix.

I can't say WHO told me this, but it is fairly reliable, they actually SAW a prototype like the picture above ,...we'll see if indeed it is true.

  2. Well,...there have been "rumors" of a new Stingray for awhile...but, yesterday I got a confirmation from a friend of mine at GM that indeed the STINGRAY is set to return. Based upon the solstice/sky platform, the new stingray will be introduced quite soon !!..or so it seems. GM has done several "production mock ups" of this model, which will expand the "CORVETTE" brand into a TWO Model line, & there may be More Corvette models in the future !

Another "tidbit" I was told is that GM is seriously considering bringing back the "GRAND PRIX"...possibly even the GTO !!! They may "return" as either Chevy or Buick models !!!!

  3. Having been "offline" for the last month or so as my home office is being remodeled, I have just today reestablished a new ISP connection, and I needed to say this to Drew & all the C&G members, aside from a big THANK YOU,..that the "trophy" Toronado which you sent to me, for winning the birthday comp, is absolutely fantastic !!

It has found a place in the TOP of my "trophy case" next to the Dale Earnhart Z-06 & my racing (SCCA) awards. The competition on that was really GOOD, and I look forward to MORE valuable competitions here now that Z06 is working the contests.

I ENCOURAGE EACH OF YOU HERE TO REALLY GET INVOLVED WITH THESE NEXT COMPS...OR I WILL HAVE TO KICK YOUR ASS ...AGAIN !!! :neenerneener:

    Good to be back !!

    :breakdance:

( oh, BTW, the TORO is Black with a Burgundy interior...just beautiful !!!...I will have to post up a picture of it for you here, once I figure out my new computer setup. )

    THX again. :smilewide:

  4. Well Now ...For all you dumbass Amerikans who been eat'in the Paint off your Caddy's & Chevy's for dinner, cuz someone said "it look good 'nuf ta EAT"...:

The newly chosen name seems apropos. Dictionary.com describes viridian as "a long-lasting, bluish-green pigment, consisting of a hydrated oxide of chromium." A joule is the SI unit of energy.

    :suburban:

...OH, Yeah I did submit a name too :

  5. Uh, jeez I am glad YOU guys Are Not Judging this One, ...Because what your describing already existed, it just was not an E Body which WAS the Entire purpose of this Contest as I recall, & Not to design a car that was built but rather a E Body version, which as a Luxo car COULD go any direction GM was willing to spend the money on.

..And the "side vents" WERE THERE back in the day too :

  6. OK...here you go...I put All of them into ONE Entry as they are all the same design, with minor differences if any from image to image,I also included the Cow Catcher versions, if indeed that was a requirement, and the final design versions which I prefer, (sans CC bumpers) ...but as I say they all represent the SAME DESIGN.

I figured you could go back to the individual posts to see the full size images ....but, I put them all up here too for those who want to "examine" them one by one. :confused0071:

Again Happy Birthday Drew, ( mine is in 18 days BTW,...) I hope ya like this stuff !

  7. But Remember correctly that indeed the E Body cars were ORIGINALLY Not Designed for those Bumpers, NONE of the cars were actually as that was a US Government "fix" imposed upon All Designs, even tho they were already set for production without those cow catchers as intended, The cars had to be "retrofitted" with those ugly ass things, which set back American Cars a decade in development, & cost the Auto Companies $$$$ Millions to do, without any government "help"....But GM did have a few "escapees" from the bumper mandate which were "experiments in plastic" on GM's part to see if indeed they could "repair" the designs, SO...in this regard my designs here ARE "Period Corrected"....LOL. : :fryingpan:

    But IF you REALLY want to SEE the cars with those bumpers, attached GVille image here ;

  8. Yeah...it is true that the cars from one time period to another always seem to have a similar "look"...So, if you analyze the "design style" many cars look like each other, it is hard to escape that. Many ofther same designers worked for different companies too, and that contributes to the shared look, same is true today, I see GM designs in many of the new Kia & Hyundai designs, as well because many ex GM designers went to those companies.

    :convertible:

I do hope we will have a few more people submit some designs here too, it is a bit of a challenge to do this as you have to think "retro" as to what could have been done back in the day...this was a great concept for a contest. THX Drew.

So anyway, when I complete the one other view I am working on I will post all of them up as attachments for a final, there should be 4 pictures in the set all of which are related to each other by the same basic design.

    :deathwatch:

  9. pontiac4.jpg

^ these were the first ideas I had for this concept (after the 90's versions which were the wrong models !!)... the Bottom Black one was intended to be a performance version..."bonneville" I called it...but the post above with that Catalina is the "shiz"...Muscle cars were getting quite Rare in the 70's....that one above would have been a REAL kicker with a 350 or a (sshhh) 428 in it !!!!

I think we can DQ these 2, ( they actually look more like Grand Prix models, IMO.)...but you SEE I had redone the "C" Pillar already to be more angled,...I do have one More coming up for you....LOL, I need that Toronado !!

    :smilewide:

  10. Now ....If you want a " performance version "....Call this a Catalina, which according to the information posted here by 98, the Grand Ville is a Luxo model & the Catalina a base model...so, of course you would make the performance model from the base car, so it could kick some ass :

    pontiaccatalina7.jpg

See what I am say'in ?...OK.

Yes ..I followed the "logic" of DF's Design strategy on this, but kept it in line with the GV design as well, & I did redo the back "c" pillar to be more like the original (2nd post - the black car) design I put up here.

I tell ya what...If Pontiac had made this....I would Buy one today, cuz it's just a Smok'in Look !...IMO.

  11. pontiaccatalina2.jpg

& OK, cool info on the GV ...so anyway, here is the Back Side View, call it whatever you like, but this is translated from the first "Catalina" I posted here into the correct Year & Body style. It dose match up with the Grand Ville design posted previously, pretty close anyway,...so you have a Front & Back on that one.

  12. pontiac4.jpg

OK,...the correct model years...THX Drew,...front half versions here, back halves to follow...these are the standard (Catalina) & performance (Bonneville) versions of each model.

More...coming soon. !!....kinda prelims for now. We will see how much detail I can get into it on the final versions !!!!
