  1. hmmm my initials are ADM... i guess thats why im broke... pay up! i vote g8 as well, they did a comp against a bmw 5 series and though it didnt out perform the bmw... it hung with it yowza the 1/4 mile times were exactly the same

  2. that means they are trying to make all the money and more; fooling people into thinking the car is more expensive than it is since thier's no advertising for it anymore.

Pontiac dealers possibly wouldn't do these insane markups every five years they get one good model if they weren't so product starved. Of all the brands, Pontiac has been starved like no other.

I also agree with you Northie that the GTO wasn't a flop. For a Pontiac to have relevance in Los Angeles is a huge prize. LA moves in fashion trends like maybe only New York, Paris, and potentially Miami and a couple other cities throughout the world not in the US. The problem with GTO was not anything related to being a Pontiac, the biggest issue was the statement it was making design wise wasn't relevant or groundbreaking when it was released. It's not a bad looking car in anyway though.

i was in Xray school when the GTOs were announced, i was in total disbelief as dealers list goats they didnt have up for auction. the winning bidder was only saing i got the right to purchase. that said i watched in amazement as a guy paid $5500 just to say i get an 04 gto. $40 grand was crazy... but the sheer greed displayed by the dealers made me ashamed to even be in the Generals army. when the 09 camaro was announced they already had one or 2 on ebay... what a shame.

  3. oops i think there is a broken link or something... i clicked the holden link off the front page but so far all ive read is how the bmlexucedes war machine is pwning everything the general or anyone else in the automotive industry has to offer.. what are we to do? who will redeem this? why am i asking retorical questions that everyone knows the answer too?

on the story of the hybrids... i thought the whole point of them was to save the world not produce the blistering speed of the normal engine. you cant save the world and go fast its like a pun or somethin hehe (yes i know thats supposed to be oximoron not pun)

the holden is a great looking car... her is the thing its got no b pillar on it which if i recall correctly somewhere in all the post back there was once one of smk's gripes, no cheap pillarless cars... if i am wrong about that sorry. (it could have been 68... i dont know)

as far as all th negative posts about this car go... a song by ELO is unning throuh my head.

dont bring me down... no no no no no

"Are we having fun yet?" ... Nickelback ... 'This Is How You Remind Me'

holy, those are 2 sweet montes right there. is that coke monte the street legal race copy that was in hemmings muscle machines about 2 months ago?

  5. my parents had an 81 sunbird with a v6, i dont remember the car but i assume it had the 3.8 in it. was a 4 sp too. my dad said if you tried hard enough you could catch second, said it was a suprisingly fast car for what it was. the car we had in the 80's that i hated was a 4 banger cavalier station wagon... what a pos that thing was. with i could have set that thing on fire and rolled it down a hill. dad sold his 77 vette for downpayment money for that trash. tell my sister to this day that cost me a corvette when she came along.

  6. 33 here in anderson sc. seems that each year since i've been around we see less and less snow til for a few years we didnt get any. mostly see the freezing rain and sleet. if we get snow its about 2". we had a "blizzard" here in '96 all of 6" in a 3 day period of time. as far as the warming thing goes they did a thing on the history channel or the discovery channel, cant remember which on the topic "Little ice age" it was very interesting stating that there is factual evidence of the planet both warming and cooling over short periods of time. citing one instance of warming that may have contributed to the black plague.

  7. at this point in my life i'd rather have one of those stage 1's than a ss454. they are sweet, well equiped, and harder to find. plus most are a lil more affordable. A buddy in high school had a 70 gs 350 i was going to race my 1990 ss454 against. would have been a good race i thought. then he went and put a 455 bored 60 over in it. never brought that idea up again after that. that car was tripple black and nasty from bumper to bumper.

  8. Eastern NC is nice but Western NC (where I'm from) has A LOT of issues now with culture clash and drugs. It used to be perfect, but certainly isn't anymore.

my g'parents just sold their place up in NC, they had some land and a weekend trailer up in spruce pines, in mitchell county for about 10 years. that was a nice little town. 10 min from little switzerland and just a hop away from boone.

  9. I have lived in SC (Greenville, Columbia, Fort Mill) pretty much all my life. I now live in Fort Mill which is a suburb of Charlotte, NC. No body here worries about hurricanes. The worst we had in SC was Hugo back in 1980 something. I'm sure if you total up the damage done by that hurricane and all other hurricanes since them the $ lost would be less than the damages from winter storms, flooding, drought, or other natural disasters that hit other areas of the country.

People complain about HP in SC, but in all my driving I have received 1 ticket (knock on wood). And that was from an unmarked Camaro at 5:00am in the morning on the way to crew practice in Columbia, SC. Taxes are lower in SC than NC, but auto insurance is higher in SC than NC, making it a wash. Property taxes are lower in SC.

I have a biased opinion, but I'd say generally SC is better than NC. Greenville is a big automotive hub (more auto related companies with in a 500 mile radius in Greenville than Detroit). Of course the BMW plant is in Greer, and ICAR is progressing nicely.

If I had to order the states from best to worse it would be: SC, NC, VA

well that pretty much neutralized my post... i guess i should have typed faster. greenville is about the best all around place in the upstate.
