  1. FE3 was first used on 1976 (special suspension). Pretty close to the same suspension naming as today but not exactly. The current FE3 has been used since 1984, (sport suspension)
  2. The wiring architecture is the biggest issue, for Onstar to communicate the way it currently does in an older model vehicle the wiring in the entire car would have to be upgraded. The old Eldorado the suer owns has wiring from 1996, a lot has changed in the 11 years since that vehicle was designed.
  3. If you have already checked the connector at the headlamps for 12 volts with the low beams on, check the headlamp dimmer switch. It should be the dark blue wire. It is in the large connector at the base of the steering column. Check carefully, it is part of the multi-function switch for the turn signal switch and is not cheap to mis-diagnose.
  4. ....and you actually think that the car companies do the actual design of a part like a door latch? There are a lot of people on these forums who really don't understand the car business.
  5. I like how everyone yells about the auto manufacturer, I don't care if it's the big 2.5 or an import. Why don't they say the name of the actual supplier of the faulty part? The tier 1 and down are the ones who are making the part that does not meet the specs of their customers. Obviously in this recall the corrosion resistance of the latch was not met. Who made the part and why did it fail?
