Heres what Iwanna see with the Cruze . A SS coupe , LNF/6-speed = buy in a second .
These are photoshops I did .
Started with this ugly modified Cruze .
And ended up here

I would hope ....Mazda 3 has had a rain sense windsheild for years now .

^^ That interior pic is heavily under the influence of photoshop

So much better inside without the wood
Unfortunately that interior on the states would prolly trade all that attractive brushed alum. or fake brushed trim for gaudy bling chrome and yes wood . Maybe not , I could be wrong , but US designed still seem to have this undying need to use chrome everywhere . The G8's holden intact interior was refreshing . Eh maybe they are learning , theres virtually no chrome , save for couple accents , in the new camaro ...again refreshng .
That opel interior is stunning just the way it is , please dont americanize it . Get this thing over here AS IS . That circle in the Opel grill will hold Buick emblem just fine .
Just for kicks I ps'ed . Heres how said car should arrive "IF" it does . Notice how barely anything changed . With a TT 6cyl , its time to revive the ol turbo6 logo

I think that rendering pretty crude . Current gen corsa greenhouse stretched at bit , oddly chopped current gen Astra rear fenders and Insignia headlights and grillwork and current VXr 19" wheels . I wouldnt be putting to much faith into any details of that pic .

You cannot get an otherwise stock LSJ to 400 HP on ANYTHING without blowing a piston and overheating the block. That particular supercharger has an absolute ton of heat soak and will not do well much past GMPPs Stage 2 kit (NOTE: GMPP Stage 3 incorporates methanol injection for its cooling properties and voids the factory powertrain warranty). Furthermore, without doing somewhat extensive valvetrain work, you won't be getting a 400 HP Ecotec. And I guarantee they don't stock cams and valve springs at your local dealer. :AH-HA_wink:
Once you remove the heaton you most certainly can make 400 hp on a stock LSJ engine . There are 4 guys over the 400 hp mark now in daily driven cars using turbochargers , 2 of them DO have a ported head and valvetrain work , the other 2 are stock engines . Once you remove the blowdryer heat pump , the 05-07 Cobalt SS is completely different ballgame
Looks like Chevy adressed just about any gripe a 05-07 owner had Its nice to see the balt finally getting good reviews . Its been a very fun car to own , the 08 oughta improve on that 10 fold ....in a stock to stock comparison anyways .
-
Same deal here , except out of 5 local chevy dealers I havent seen a new Malibu on the lot in 2 months . Naquin's got a batch of 10 cars in and they were gone witin 2 weeks . Lots are bare ever since .

I say bring Holden's entire line up here - and rebadge them as Pontiacs. Wait a second....
And hows that gonna work with 1/2 of Holdens lineup being Opels=Saturn

I think this is probably more indirect . I dont think youll see directly transplanted BMW engines in a GM car or the current SMG trans . I think GM probably likes what BMW is doing with their V6 and new 5 series V8 turbo systems and they want spread some develpment costs and technology on their own clutchless manual .
It would be suicide to just plop a beamer engine in a Cadillac , pretty sure GM gets that too .
-
Just and overlay over a Commodore . The C60 uses the Commodore front rails(the Camaro uses long front rails ) and the Camaro "short Zeta" mid and rear sections . It similar in size to the Camaro , but still bigger .
-
I work part time at a Saturn Dealer , I can tell u first hand ...our dealer anyways are beyond happy to see the Ion die and are doing backflips over the Astra . This car looks GOOD . The interior design is a bit long in tooth compared to stuff now , but the interior materials are first rate ....again it looks really good . All this car needs is a optional 1.9 Turbo/6-speed from the Euro Astra to match its handling ability .....oh yeah , and a redline/vXR/OPC . Hopefully GM expands the lieup with the next gen thats soon to come .
-
GM is quite confusing right now to say the least . Zeta is completely imploding one day save for the Camaro , and then , on the next . Ultra V8's cancelled , but next gen p.rod and DOHC LX lives on , then all future V8 programs cancelled .
I will believe the G8 ST and a GMC crewman when I see them in the showroom . I personally think the Camaro is the only Zeta vehicle , save for the G8 ....the US will ever see .

Time to use an American plant for these cars.
Substitute American with mexican and your on to something .
The headlights were also re-engineered with a Halogen projector , no HID or active forward lighting components , which does require a new headlamp base , new internal brackets , new parking light reflector(that is US specific ...and ugly ) that uses a US 3156 style light ( Opel uses a h7 with a 194 city light in theirs ) and a new socket for the top turn signal light to except a common US size Bulb , and a new internal wiring harness . That was a nice chunk of expense right there and I was actually very surprised GM went the extra mile to put the HID/AFL style lamp on the Saturns ...as the Euro Astras did and still do have a halogen specific light , though it not nearly as good looking .

You wont see anything at the auto shows this year.
Bumblebee will be in Detroit , without the hubcaps
Probably on the right quarter panel... I noticed the lights on the camoed car..it's probably got some other headlights than production (i.e. cobbled together mule).Zeta fuel door = passengerside .....same for the Camaro
Scott said the headlights are makeshift , using cheapies from the local auto parts store . Production units are not ready .
-
Yea I think you're mostly right about the steering wheel, shifter and maybe some of the stack...but it's just too early on the other stuff. And that other stuff consists of quite a bit.
I would put faith in the shape of the stack , but nothing inside the stack . 1/2 those things look like engineering prototypes . The radio display looks like a upper dash screen from a SV6 and higher commodore taped into the makeshift bezel .

As for the other news in this topic, looks like GME will take GM's global operations down with them. No V8 for future Cadillacs? Are you kidding me? The ONLY other luxury make that doesn't have a V8 is Acura. Infiniti, BMW, MB, Lexus, Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, and Audi all have V8s or higher. WTF? GME blows huge chunks.
I think the next gen LS engines might have a bit do with that . I wouldnt count on Caddy not having a V8 just yet , another program possibly obeletely the need for the ultra V8 and still has the fabled DOHC architecture .
Camaro Exterior ...insane , I love it so far
Camaro interior ....with my job , Ive seen prototype interiors with a few OEMs (though not GM) .....that interior has to many cobbled parts , TAPE and holes to base a opinion and is long way from its final form . Scott stated this interior is 65% production at best .

The white paint and lighting is hiding all those sexy lines . Im more concerned whats under the front bra , I really hope they kept the projector ( concept was actually LEDS) with the Halo ring . If this car has mustang like headlights like the Bumble bee had it will lose a ton of front end character .
A black one coming up the road with just halo rings on would be pure evilness

Personally I'd say you might as well go with the Pirelli PZeros for that price. They are even more expensive ($285 for the CTS's size) but there's a reason the Gallardo, F430, R8, and countless other exotics are using them.
I HATED that tire . After about 5K miles this tire got hard as rock , my car rode so bad when tread was about 1/2 used . Dry handling is good , but it hydroplaned easily and was horrible in the rain . Treadlife was bad even for a performance summer tire The P zero's came on my SS . The PS2 and the Goodyear FI GSD3 are much better in nearly all aspects , with the nod going to the D3( only because it sticks good in the rain too ) .
Congrats on the new CTS . I know if I had a FE3 , manual trans CTS it would easily rack up ALOT of miles Enjoy!

What? Where are you getting those figures from?
It states the fuel economy in the article .
-
I cant believe how much better gas mileage the 1.8 gets over the 2.2 with somewhat similar power outputs . 33 city 46 hwy ...ummm , WOW !
-
While nowhere near my fav car , Ive always had a soft spot for the 9-3 . The latest updates do nothing but compliment it further . I especially like the headlamps , Im a stickler for the higher tech lighting . The white pipe DRLs will look a bit menacing coming up the road
-
I wish the US could affordably have all the Astra's . A glass roof SRi 3-door with a turbocharged 1.6 would be sweet , as would a VXr/OPC . The Twintop would likely be better competition for the Eos than a G6 vert .

A trunk release button would be a little redundant given the fact that as long as the key fob is in your pocket all u have to do is lift the trunk to open it . No buttons to push at all .
