  1. Remember that just because they haven't sold that one for three months, doesn't mean they're having trouble selling them. Just noone else picked it yet. Plus the market can drop out on vehicles especially redesigned ones like the Impal and Malibu. The tallest issue with trades at Saturn is that although KBB or NADA may say your vehicle is worth more, the black book is usually what they can afford to offer. KBB won't write a check... Black Book is real money. It's easy to blame Saturn for the value you place on your car... Chances are that if they offered you $3,000 more for your trade before, you wanted that same figure this time. They may have budged, just not $3,000. Usually they offer anywhere from $500 Below Black book (covering transportation and auction fees to break even), to $1,500 over on retailable units. When they give you a price it's an Actual Cash Value (ACV) not an allowance. If they give you more for your trade, you're just getting the gross from their car. Unlike every other negotiating dealership where they charge you sticker and show you more for your trade, at Saturn it's a true discount, because you win the Gross you normally wouldn't be able to get. The negative is that if you do this the Salesperson and the dealership make virtually nothing. No one should work for free! Would you? You could go somewhere else, and be shown more money for your trade, or you can have an honest dealer show you what it's worth if they have to ship it to auction. A Saturn dealer will write you a check for your car... Most other places won't. In any case... Sell your car yourself, and you'll get more than a Saturn Retail Facility will get if they ship it to auction.
  2. Why can't the brands distinguish themselves from each other.... brothers and sisters can't share the same coat at the same time... DUH... If they are going to continue this crap, then why not just kill the brands and Label the cars GM, a consolidated brand.
  3. It Just goes to show you that "Quality Costs Less in the Long-run"... Dr. W Edwards Demming showed the Japanese Auto manufacturers that... They applied it and became successful. But those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. Toyota really needs to get back to the basics. Now Here Comes Honda, and in 2 years we'll see Domestics like Saturn pushing guys out of the Top 10.

  5. Actually the Cocoa is not a Buick exclusive, and it is probably one of the most test-driven, Outlook colors that customers are attracted to. As far as I am concerned your views on the Outlooks in Cocoa, opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and yours is full of unsolicited crap.
  6. GM needs to figure out the basics of engines before they get crazy with hybrids. If you can't make an Impala get close to 40 before you start there is a flaw in the design. In the movie "Mr. Baseball" starring Tom Sellek, Tom was a baseball player in the States who was an amazing MLB batter that went to Japan to play. Over there, the Japanese quickly found out that he could not hit a pitch called a "shootow" because he had a "hole in his swing". You have to be able to eliminate the hole in your design, if you want to succeed. Why is it that GM can't swallow their pride, and buy a couple of Japanese cars and study them, while asking the question, "Why does this get 5-10 mpg better than ours?"? Make sense? You can't beat what you don't understand. Look at Saturn! They understood the concepts, and came further faster than a lot of entry level brands did. But they turned the reigns back over to GM and took a slight step back in fuel economy, just to make their product look better, and to have a chance financially to survive. Neccessary? I believe so... Take it from me... On the ground level of sales... Most older people are scared of the Hybrid Technology. And the younger (people who would buy a hybrid) generation likely won't buy a Cadillac, if they can buy a Lexus at the same price... So instead I suggest they give it to the Saturn Outlook, and let the "Opel Line" compete with the foreign brands!
  7. "I think the GMC is No. 1 for a lot of reasons," said Pete Nico, vehicle line director for Lambda. "People walking into a GMC dealer expect to pay that kind of money or a lot more for a vehicle," said Nico, who was interviewed at a GM event last week near here. The Outlook, a large crossover, is Saturn's most expensive vehicle. "People walking into a Saturn dealer are not necessarily walking in to buy this big of a vehicle," Nico said. "It will be a learning experience for that buyer." What a LOAD OF GARBAGE... Do the Math. Saturn has 435 facilities, and has sold over 12,000 Outlooks... That's about 30 per facility. GMC has over 3,000 facilities and has sold 24,000 Acadia's. That's generously about 8 per facility. It would take Saturn having 1500 facilities to have that kind of weak production. The Outlook is way hotter, and they're doing way less advertising. I've also got a feeling that if we had 1,500 facilities, there would have been a lot less Acadia Buyers.
  8. RETHINK AMERICAN... THE FLAVOR OF THE WHOLE AD, GOES RIGHT FOR THE JUGULAR. THERE WILL ALSO BE A FULL PAGE PRINT IN USA TODAY, AND A 60 SECOND SPOT. THE PURPOSE OF THE AD ISN'T TO SAY THAT WE (SATURN), WILL HAVE A V12 BITURBO. IT CONTRASTS, WHAT USED TO BE THOUGHT OF AS AMERICAN, WITH WHAT WE REALLY ARE DOING IN AMERICA. THE MUSCLEMAN(WE USED TO BE) TO LANCE ARMSTRONG(WE ARE NOW) RETHINK STRONG. THE SMOKESTACKS(USED TO BE) TO SOLAR PANELS(WE ARE NOW)RETHINK POWER. ETC... BUT NO MATTER HOW YOU TAKE THE AD, IT SUITS SATURN, AND GM!
  9. You do realize that there will be a REVAMP on the AURA bodystyle that will look identical to this in a few years... The shared grille/chrome bar doesn't look Toyotaish it looks Saturnish. By 2011, maybe earlier, Saturn will be almost completely on Shared platforms with OPEL... REBADGE THIS!
  10. I work for a Saturn Facility, and let me say that Onstar has changed even since the very beginning of my career here in 2005. We no longer are offering a simple system. The vehicles we offer now can intelli-sense the G-Forces of an impact regardless of airbag deployment, and notify paramedics to send helicopters, instead of ambulances. The systems can monitor your tire pressures, fluid levels, rollovers, etc... I understand the gentleman is upset that his 7 year old eldorado doesn't have the same onstar it always has, but I don't think he realizes that there has to be upgrades based on FCC regulations, digital communications, and opportunity to improve, to improve the safety, and quality of every vehicle on the road, not just the 2000's or2002's. This is a feature that is not offered on 90% of the competitive field, and was/is a competitive advantage. If GM didin't continue trying to move forward, his entire vehicle may become obsolete. See also Oldsmobile. SCENARIO: MAN SUES GM... GM LOSES 50,000,000 DOLLARS... STOCK GOES DOWN AS INVESTORS AREN'T HAPPY... BUSINESS LOSES INVESTMENT MONEY... GETS BAD PUBLICITY, SO MUST CUT CORNERS TO KEEP INVESTORS HAPPY... (TWO POSSIBLE PATHS, CARS BECOME CHEAPER, OR WE CREATE LESS OF THEM) CADILLAC LOSES IT'S PLACE IN GM LINEUP, MORE STOCK LOST... HIS TRADE VALUE GOES DOWN, AND COST TO FIX GOES UP... ALL FOR A $199 DOLLAR OPTION, THAT HE WAS UPSET ABOUT, PROBABLY RARELY USES, AND WON'T WORK IN HIGHLY SECURE AREA'S LIKE FORT KNOX KY, BECAUSE OF THE OLD TECHNOLOGY. NOW HE'S UPSET BECAUSE HE FEELS LIKE GM SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN, SWEARS OFF GM, AND BUYS A HONDA WHICH DOESN'T HAVE ONSTAR ANYWAY. IT COULD HAPPEN: JUST NOT LIKELY TO! :AH-HA_wink:
  11. Everyone wants to compare the Aura to the Accord V6 Hybrids, or the other V6's because of the Hybrid name plate or it's big brother. However the Aura is more in line with the price point and trim levels of a 4cyl Accord / Camry, and has a lot more standard equipment to boot. But since everyone wants to compare to the Accord V6, and Aura XE lets use some sixth grade math. At current gas prices, driving 15k per year, every 2 miles to the gallon = a 12 dollar a month savings. So a 5 gal. a month difference when compared to the standard XE would = a 30 dollar per month or 360 dollar per year savings. If you're doing primarily city driving the GL would offer a more substantial upgrade at 8 miles per gallon difference. That = $48 dollars per month or 576 dolars per year savings. With a $1300 dollar tax credit after two years you have a potential $2300+ savings or have reclaimed it towards the price of your car. Not to mention great emissions for the eco system. The Hybrid Accord cost approx 10k extra. And you get more stuff, but not 10k more stuff...
