  1. Well, I was really into TONKA trucks. Had a ton of them, seeing as how I got a lot of them for birthday and Christmas presents. I was born in '74, so I had a lot of the late '70s and early '80s TONKA's. Of course there were the Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars too. Then Star Wars and Transformers (Go-bots too) and GI Joe. BV - I too have a basement full of toys I've collected over the last 10-15 years that I'm now thinking of turning into cash. I know how you feel. Maybe eBay is the answer, although I live close to a really BIG flea market and probably could make some good $$$ if I wait a month or two for the holidays to roll around.
  2. Saturn Yellow... what a great color on these Buicks! Enjoy the hell out of it...
  3. Will these "pissing wars" ever stop??? Of course the Jeep guys are gonna go and make a video like this... Hummers are appearing everywhere and are putting their little Jeeps to shame. Sure, I could take out my camera and film every Joe-Schmoe who goes and buys a Hummer without any offroad driving training too. But why don't they show the Hummers pulling out the Jeeps? I've seen that footage too on tv and on the 'net. My toy is better than your toy... blah blah blah. I like both brands (Jeep & Hummer). And this statement couldn't be more wrong - Of course GM used the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade architecture as a basis... that doesn't mean that they put a Hummer body on top of a Tahoe frame!!! Plenty of engineering went into the H2's design to make it a capable off-road vehicle. Take a stock H2 and a stock Tahoe/Yukon out onto an off-road course and see which vehicle was engineered to be the off-road truck. Don't get me wrong - one day I will own a Jeep Wrangler. Maybe if Hummer produces the H3 in pickup form, I may own that first. But these are two great brands and enthusiasts for each will try to show why there's is better than the others. Thanks for reading my rant. :P
  4. Thanks everyone! :) Of course he has to be trained in the ways of the automobile... I won't have it any other way. Most of his clothing is car/truck related, and we went out of our way to find automobile-themed bedding and room decor - construction trucks! I already bought him his first TONKA truck - of course he can't play with it for 3 more years, but hey at least he's prepared! And while shopping at a mall a couple of months ago, a KB Toy store was going out of business and I found a diecast GMC Terradyne that is sitting on his shelf to bring him up on GMC's from Day 1. Hahaha! She had him 2 days after I found out about the GMAC lease pull-ahead, so I was hoping to have brought him home in a GMC. That didn't work out, but with the addition of the new Envoy on the 19th, he'll be carted to the doctor's visits in style from now on!!!
  5. You're not kidding! I live in the southern central part of NJ, and not too far from Philly. I moved away from the Trenton area b/c the traffic was always a nightmare. Traffic (and the insurance rates) are a huge problem in this state.
  6. Well Chief, my first day back to work (school) is Thursday, Sept 1st... but the kids don't start until the following Wednesday (Sept 7th). And this year I'm introducing a new course (I teach Business Ed) - ENTREPRENEURSHIP. So I too will be giving out homework - first time since 2002! (that's what happens when you teach primarily computer courses!) I always enjoy my summers off, but this year will be great as the kids I advise are Seniors and Senior year is always a great year at my school (not to mention, our Senior Class Trip in March will not be to Orlando FL, but rather I'm taking them out to Southern California!).
  7. No, they're the same LT Sedan rims offered since the Malibu debuted. They're now just chrome plated for 2006. I have those rims (non-chrome) on my '04 Malibu.
  8. I feel the SAME way you do.. why change a good thing!?!?
  9. Well, their Financial Advisor is bascially telling them that if they try to get credit (buy a new car, refinance their house or try for a home equity loan, apply for in-store credit for those "$0 down, no financing for 1 year deals", etc) while co-signing for your loan, they could be turned down as they may appear to be over-extended on their credit. It's a possibility it could happen to them, that's why their F.A. is advising them of it. It's a pretty lame excuse, but he's doing his job. My dad has excellent credit and and co-signed for my first lease solely because I was still on their insurance policy still (hey, I was in my early 20's and their policy was much more affordable here in NJ than me being on my own policy!!!). It never affected him EVER because I was always on time with my payments. But hopefully your parents will come your way and help you out. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in the meantime.
  10. ... and to a future C&G member! Justin Edward was born on Monday, August 8th at 11:10 AM. He weighed an even 8 pounds and was 21 inches long. Mom and baby had no complications during delivery and both came home two days later. He's breast-feeding, so needless to say, I sleep through the night! :P Here he is:
  11. Well, GM finally made me a happy guy :D About two weeks ago I get a call from one of many salespeople I've left my # with to call me once a new GMAC Pull-Ahead program arrived that included me (the '03 Buick Rendezvous lease was scheduled to end in January of 2006). Needless to say I didn't waste any time deciding if I wanted to get rid of the Rendezvous or not (we were extremely close to our total allowed mileage, so it really was a no brainer ;) ). After looking at several new "family" vehicles (see my other thread in the Lounge on the new addition to the family), we went with a 2005 GMC Envoy. It is a 4wd SLT model in Monterey Maroon Metallic with the two-toned Ebony & Light Tan leather interior - I've always loved this exterior color and it's going away in 2006. Pretty much a loaded truck: - 1SD opt pkg - Luxury Package (heated leather seats, rainsense wipers, headlamp washers, content theft alarm, Bose premium speakers) - OnStar - Sun, Sound, and Entertainment Package (XM radio, 6-disc CD radio, sunroof) - Polished aluminum rims - 3.73 rear axle - Locking rear differential - Cargo Area Management System - Adjustable pedals Took delivery yesterday - we got home around 9:00 PM last night, so it was too late for pictures. But I will be heading out soon with the digital camera to snap some shots of my new SUV. Look for them soon! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT 8/23/2005: Here are three pictures of the new Envoy (stupid sun; it went in when I took the first two shots, came out for teh last one!):
  12. Glad to be back! I had C&G withdrawl so bad, I went out and bought an '05 GMC Enovy SLT 4wd!!! :D :P
