  1. What you've seen on TV and in the papers pales in comparison to what it's really like after Hurricane Sandy hit us. There are thousands of people who have lost everything... houses washed into the sea, entire neighborhoods burned to the ground, loved ones killed and injured. It will take many years to rebuild, in some case never at all. You can see some of the pictures here http://www.wbab.com/gallery/weather/hurricanes/images-hurricane-sandy/g568/#last So we find ourselves hitting every avenue we can to help raise funds and get help for the victims of Hurricane Sandy here on LI. New York AutoFest is putting on a car show fundraiser on November 25 in Commack, NY with the cooperation of Newsday, radio station WBAB, and others. Many companies and car clubs are answering the call, we have set a goal of $50,000 and we feel confident we can not only hit that but exceed it. So... we ask you to dig into your pockets and help us help those in such need. While many of you can't make it to the show you can still donate, $5... $10... $500! Whatever you feel you can afford would be most appreciated. Go to www.nyautofest.com, read where our plans for the show are at right now and go to the registration form. Pre-registration will help you get in faster and help us plan better but if you're not coming to the show just leave the vehicle info blank and fill in the amount of your donation. 100% of the proceeds goes to help Long Island recover, all administrative expenses have been paid for and many companies are donating product and time to help us keep expenses down. Also, if you really want to experience the horror what happened here watch SUPERSTORM 2012 on the National Geographic Channel, it will bring you to tears.

  10. We've just added another vehicle to the New York AutoFest3 Invitational on July 18, 2010 in Hicksville, NY. Come see Robert Luczun's "Car-Toons," a 1928 Ford Model AR Roadster Pickup covered in a century of pop culture icons. A rolling history of the comic art form, with airbrushed renderings ranging from The Yellow Kid (first published in 1896) to today's South Park characters. Luczun spent more than 2,000 hours-over a year and a half-painting the truck. "Cartoons appeal to all of us, no matter what age," says Luczun. "Our first instinct when we see figures like Snow White or the Jolly Green Giant is to touch them-see that they are real. Kids are going to want to touch the car when they see it, and that's okay. It's part of the magic."

  12. We're pleased to announce that one of the premiere vehicles to be featured at THE NEW YORK AUTOFEST Invitational will be the famed 1909 ALCO-6, the "Black Beast." Lovingly restored by Howard Kroplick right here on Long Island where it won the famed 1909 and 1910 Venderbilt Cup Races. It then went on in 1911 to race in the first Indianapolis 500. Spectators will also get a chance to see the ALCO-6 in action. The 2010 NY AutoFest (www.nyautofest.com) will feature a special invitational section of exceptional, historic, and rare vehicles.
  13. I thought it was a pretty good ad, different from a normal ad but still got it's message across. It's also got people talking which is always a good thing with commercials.
  14. This year's edition of the New York Custom Car Show has been canceled. This 3 day annual event has been a Thanksgiving feature on Long Island for over 40 years. Sadly, a victim of the poor economy. The organizers have decided to not hold the show this year in anticipation of a bigger and better re-birth in 2010. We wish them all the best.
