  1. Well...IMO Pontiac should have a US Delta car. AFAIC it should be a sport wagon to go after the Mazda3 5-door. I'll draw up a pic of what I think it should look like in a few days...I like this thread...let's go with it...

    So...

Didn't piss me off, just annoyed me that I got jumped all over because it's a 2 seater yet fills all the other criteria...yes your examples fulfil...oh...two of the criteria.....it just seemed like a stupid double standard and arguing just for the sake of arguing.

    So...

THESE CARS ARE NOT PILLARLESS HARDTOPS!!!!! You want to jump on me because my suggestion fit the description, but doesn't have a backseat, but then you pull out these "examples" and show them as proof that this is not a niche??? Y'all don't make sense. Do you want it pillarless or no? A pillarless design is not practical due to leakage issues for large family sedans. The Mustang has a fixed rear window AND a B pillar. Those LX cars have a B-pillar. THESE AREN'T EVEN BOF!! Now make up your minds! Now, I dare you to convince me that a RWD, BOF, V8, 6-speed pillarless hardtop is NOT a niche model? In fact, prove that it is not a VERY niche model... I'd love to see you try.

    Last Place Again

The STS is in no way a breakthrough product. It has a bland exterior, and a low-quality interior. Those plastics are hard, and their corners are SHARP! The center console is very hard and doesn't close with the solund of a solid product. The interior design is bland. The only thing going for the STS is the performance, and even then it is overpriced. If the interior actually had good materials in it and a less insipid design, I could forgive the exterior. But no. The product is watered down.

    So...

Only problem is the El Camino was always car based...so why not just take an Impala or Monte and make it a 2-seater with an open bed?

    So...

so...basically he wants a different kind of niche vehicle. Because a vehicle like that will not appeal to a mainstream audience.

    So...

Fact is, though, it is still a pillarless hardtop by definition. I'm sorry you don't like that GM has a solution to Silvester's problem, but they do. It has the raw power, the handling, everything of a classic muscle car. I bet 0-60 times are even similar! Plus...it's a hardtop OR a convertible all in one with no targa to mess with.
  9. Tell me about it  I mean I buy American whenever I can, only exceptions being when the competition is clearly and decidedly better. Take beer, for example. Sam Adams is the only domestic I really like, and even then if given the choice I go for Corona.

    So...

SSR has a retractable hardtop...the Corvette does not. So what were you saying about technological innovation? Retractible hardtops are pretty expensive to make...
  11. Croc

    So...

I disagree. SSR's only failing was the weak engine for the initial price. Now that it has a 6-speed and a 90hp bump, it is quite good. AFAIC it is a car made to look like a truck even though it IS GMT-360-based. It is BOF, it has RWD, V8, 6-speed, and it is a hardtop...a hardtop convertible no less, and no pillars. It is the reincarnation of an old muscle car. Even the handling characteristics are virtually the same as an old muscle car.
  12. Croc

    So...

It fills the niche left by the Camaro. Corvette is for the performance, ride and handling, SSR is like the Camaro: raw power and straight line action. It's pretty good now that it has the engine upgrade...

    Job Interview

I love Wilmington! So nice, and then Wilmiwood...that was fun.
  14. Only option for Delphi's survival though...
  15. Croc

    So...

I really think the SSR is more of a sports car than it is a truck...If I were in the market for a truck, I wouldn't consider the SSR, and if I were in the market for a sports car, I would...
  16. The companies are going to live on though...they just lose all the legacy costs. It's win/win for the companies, lose/lose for the unions.

Taking and running with 68s idea of which era would one rather be an enthusiast in, I have to say his selections for the current era were pretty lousy. You took the exciting cars of the 1950s. Not every car had that outlandish styling. Let's compare apples to apples, eh? Here are the cars of the current era to be compared with thoose 68 posted from the 50s: So there we have it... For me? I'd rather be in the present simply because ride and handling are far superior than the older cars. The older cars look great, don't get me wrong, but I love the present era. Plus cars today are far safer than those of the past.

    So...

First of all, I don't care cuz I think it's funny. Secondly, according to this wikipedia article, it is still a pillarless hardtop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardtop It has no B-Pillar, and it is a hardtop. I don't see the problem with this?
  25. GM really needs to fix that problem with UltraView...even C&D had it!!
