    Taking and running with 68s idea of which era would one rather be an enthusiast in, I have to say his selections for the current era were pretty lousy. You took the exciting cars of the 1950s. Not every car had that outlandish styling. Let's compare apples to apples, eh? Here are the cars of the current era to be compared with thoose 68 posted from the 50s: So there we have it... For me? I'd rather be in the present simply because ride and handling are far superior than the older cars. The older cars look great, don't get me wrong, but I love the present era. Plus cars today are far safer than those of the past.

    First of all, I don't care cuz I think it's funny. Secondly, according to this wikipedia article, it is still a pillarless hardtop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardtop It has no B-Pillar, and it is a hardtop. I don't see the problem with this?

  10. Look, I might have been advanced at my age, but I realized that when I was 8. I'm not going to go into detail of my bullying experience because frankly it is nobody's business, but let me assure you it was bad enough for me to resume bedwetting at 7...after being "trained" for a good three years. I hated going to school, and would get so nervous at the prospect of going that I would vomit almost every morning. Living down the nickname "barf bag" wasn't easy...

    It's only confusing if you forget that GM is more than just divisions; there are a lot of overhead and side operations. BUICK is a profitable division. SAAB is not. SAAB would be cut far sooner than Buick. Pontiac would be cut far sooner than Buick. But since Pontiac-Buick-GMC are being consolidated into essentially one division, that entire division is extremely profitable. Is this starting to make sense? I never spoke for you...I just find it fascinating that you just post this immediately after getting all riled up in the other thread. Sure seems like you're bitter. BTW, I'm with Ven...I want to know the details as to why you think Buick will be cut. It sure doesn't make any logical rational sense to me. You seem to be obsessing lately that I'm all pro-Toyota or something. Let's get one thing straight: you couldn't be more wrong. I hate Toyota. Honda has a model or two I would consider (both technically Acuras), but there are plenty of domestic models I would buy in a heartbeat, so that theory pretty much dies, now doesn't it? It will be a very long time, and a very different industry, before I would really truly consider buying a Toyota or a Honda.
  12. Um, that's what I said...it's sad she lacked the emotional stability to cope. Suicide is never an answer as far as I'm concerned. It is an ending, and an extremely selfish one at that. I've never seen the "solution" in reacting to my own deep inner pain by inflicting it on those who are closest to me. And yes, I was bullied at one point, quite severely actually, and it required a bit of therapy, but I had the inner strength to endure and the self-confidence to know I was worth something. So, yes, I have "been there." Again, it is sad that she felt compelled to do what she did, but at the same time I feel far more sorry for her family because I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who do something that selfish.
  13. Haha...yes, yes the reason I am no longer a mod here is because I resigned. No other reason. I was well-liked on the mod board with only one, maybe two exceptions (out of 17 mods). And you wouldn't believe the number of PMs I received expressing happiness at my return. But I digress... BV, another gem of a post. Took the words out of my mouth regarding your "buy me a Fiero" site.

    Don't look like trash, but don't wear a suit. You will be laughed at if you do that. Bring yourself, a pencil or pen, and a tissue in case your nose acts up before you go in, and a tic tac. Questions vary, but most is just getting to know you crap. Just be honest, be yourself. Oh, and don't curse or use foul language, and try not to smell like cigarettes. Avoid Bob Marley shirts, or anything with a drug connotation.

    No, that's not what it means at all. It means that instead of innovating, they closely follow so they come to market with a product that improves upon the leading one. Nothing to do with analysts, because they wait for someone else to assume the risk before they attempt.

    Yes, which is why they are SOMETIMES class leaders, but generally they are "Follow the Leader" companies. I am NOT implying GM is always the leader here...but sometimes they are. GM does have a knack for innovation though.

    Sometimes Honda and Toyota are the class leaders. They are "follow the leader" companies who wait for someone to try something before assuming the risk of doing it themselves. That said, when they do it themselves (usually only a year or two behind) they improve it in some way because they know what consumers want from the original company's request lists. That's why they are usually considered class-leading.
