A real luxury car indeed. I would prefer the alloy wheels in place of the gaudy wire covers and the HT 4100 was garbage with 125 HP in 1982 and 135 from 1983-1985. If only Cadillac put a better motor in these.
I suspect a lot of people would agree. No Cadillac deserved that 4100. At least the 3800 would have had better MPG, which was the concern back then.

The key things I want to see with the new truck other than a better nose on the Chevy are these things.
Less weight. Ford has already started to remove up to 700 pound from their trucks. There is a lot of wasted space in todays trucks under the hood and in the cab. I hope they can find a pleasing way to pare down this waste of space and added metal and keep the trucks looking good.
Also Chevy needs to get a Turbo V6 in the next truck. The Ford is selling 36% of the F 150 with this engine and the market seems to be ok with it. They are also paying S750-s1750 more for it too. These engines with the way gas prices go up and down will only help sales.
In all I would like to see some changes to the trucks to move them ahead in styling and technology. Today the companies just want to make them big and bulky with the largest chrome grill they can. I know some like the mini semi look but I would like to see GM move the industry into newer and more creative areas for the truck. I think buyers would go for it as long as the styling was still pleasing. Trucks made a big jump from the 30's to the 50's and then from the 70 to the 80's. It is time again for another major advancement in the idea of what a truck can be.
QFT. +1. GM needs to ditch about 1000 pounds in their trucks, and that will solve just about everything.

A good turbo v6. Ummm, where? AFAIK, since GM loves putting in pushrod v8s into trucks, where is that v6 equivalent if there is a need for them? Certainly the 3.6L v6 is too refined for a truck (not to mention trucks NEED torque). Also, when is GM going to release their new Ranger fighter anyways? Not everyone needs a Silverado.

He is right about the Nissan Leaf. A better question is whether such a pure EV could survive winters in Detroit or Minneapolis, since it is such an urban vehicle.

Dwightlooi, has GM ever made a GOOD pushrod 4cyl? I know that the Buick 231 (nowadays the 3800 Series I,II,III) was a fabulous v6. I should know: both my former Intrigue, 1st gen LaCrosse and my Park Avenue Ultra have that engine.

My 99 White Buick Park Avenue Ultra. I have no idea what the color code is back then,

The Impala SS had NO character. that's for sure. A base Passat was far more fun to drive................
At least the v6 impala won't have the presumptuous SS badge on it. And at least it will have a real transmission in it.
No character. There are buyers who buy reliable, no character cars. Mind you, they tend to buy Hondas and Toyotas more often than not.
Then again, the Impy could use the new powertrain. I just wish the RWD, character driven Impala was here now rather than in three years, if only to compete with the Dodge Charger. C'mon GM! You can do it!

The IBC (i.e. pushrod) V8 seems better, but is it noisier than the DOHC V8? It seems that almost everyone else with a V8 went DOHC years ago since that is all they build.

I heard from the local dealer that 2011 is the last of the Lucerne and Cadillac DTS. A FWD not-quite large sedan is not a worthy flagship for Buick.
I do like the second-generation LaCrosse, a LOT more than the first-gen. Maybe I am a bit of a traditionalist, especially since the death of dear Oldsmobile seven years ago.
Buick still deserves a RWD flagship: if Chrysler and Hyundai can do it, why won't GM?

*extends a hand* Welcome to you as well, Mr. riviera74.
Thanks for the welcome.

So this is the MCE for the Impala, and it will last this way another 6 years.. maybe a new car by 2018?
I hope not. The Impala needs to go RWD ideally right now. 2018: no point in waiting that long.

To me, the Lucerne, even though I like the car, kind of took a spot between the LeSabre and Park Avenue... it never really had the panache of the Park, imo.
Many here would love to see a new Park Avenue based on the LWB Zeta platform... which is currently sold as a Buick Park Avenue in China.
That is exactly what I am talking about!

I have just joined too, even though I have been reading posts on this site for at least two or three years.

I have been looking for a replacement for my 1999 Park Avenue Ultra (the flagship of its day) and according to my local dealer, the Enclave is now considered the flagship for Buick. I really really like the Enclave, but why is a large Lambda crossover considered a flagship? More importantly, why can't Buick get a car that can properly compete with that NEW 2011 Chrysler 300 (or should that be a flagship Cadillac too?)? Indeed, why can't Buick and/or Cadillac get an upgraded version of the Hyundai Genesis as a flagship?
Any thoughts? FWD crossovers do NOT a flagship make, IMHO.

The SRX is still porky but at least it is now getting the engine it should have from day 1 -- the 3.6 -- instead of the seriously under torqued 3.0 and the disastrously surgy 2.8T, neither of which beats the 3.6 in fuel economy.
The 3.6 v6 is where Caddy should have started. The only problem is is that GM wants Cadillac to be fuel efficient..... like the Equinox/Terrain with a 4cyl. Too bad that did not pay out any dividends. Then again, why should Cadillac be fuel efficient?

That is rather lame. If GM does import that Commodore as a Caprice available for civilian as well as police duty, that should suffice.
