Cool to see comparisons based on the stated info to date for this EV compared to Tesla and Ford. According to GM as they release EV versions, their ICE version will be phased out. The question I have which GM has not provided is how long of a phase out period will it be on the ICE? -

Yes, in this regard, GM has been very clear on how the Software control of FWD/AWD/RWD is very simple to enable or disable as the code base is one. ? This does make me wonder how easy it might be down the road once they are very common to pick up a wrecked Blazer SS, buy a cheap 1LT Blazer and add the additional motor and anything else off the SS to your 1LT and then update the software on the control board. SLEEPER BLAZER ? -

Agree that it seems weird, but then I think @Robert Hall nailed it as a Marketing move and I will say that many dinge the Chevrolet Bolt due to being FWD only when there is room in the rear area for another motor for AWD or RWD. -

While there is no answer in the press release or the reveal last night, I also was asking myself on this and the only thing that made sense to me was geographical location and cost. In the south, a RWD might be more preferred where a FWD in the North with occasional snow would make more sense for those that could not afford AWD. The Ultium system seems to be very flexible in regard to which end of the auto the motor is on. -

This was one very interesting press release as Chevrolet chose to use Inforgraphics to highlight the details of this affordable Mid-Size EV. There has been much discussion on the balance of buttons versus all touch screen and here Chevrolet seems to have listened to the market in offering a balance of buttons for basic items from the steering wheel to the immediate dash so that one does not have to hunt into the menus to find how to turn on basic AC or Heat, etc. One thing that this writer has come to dislike in various cheap ICE auto's and especially in Tesla is the center stack only screen. GM from Cadillac down to Cheverolet seems to feel safety of a screen right in front of the driver is still the safest way to get instant info rather than looking down and to the right. 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen is the focal point of the cabin and the command center for the vehicle’s infotainment system and additional features. A large 11-inch-diagonal color Driver Information Center in the instrument cluster complements the central touchscreen. Did my weekly shopping run, saw a brand new R1T Rivian Pickup, really liking the tweener size, bigger than a mid and not a large. Sharp looking truck. Also saw an old 1994 to 1996 era I believe Buick Roadmaster Station wagon, white with fake wood grain in amazing shape, being driven by a senior who was pulling into Panera Bread company.

2011 Lexus set the record for the fastest production car lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife racing course with a time of 7 minutes and 14 seconds in the flashy yellow Lexus LFA supercar. Hyundai has released more info on this sedan at the following link along with a ton more pictures, videos, etc. IONIQ 6 Technology | Eco - Hyundai Worldwide The Sedan will have a 380 mile driving range. Will recharge to 80% in 18 min, zero to 65 in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph. -

True, but then I thought about the cost of a gas station compared to installing chargers and it really is cheap to have chargers everywhere to make it simple to plug in no matter the range of the EV you get. Here Tesla now has superchargers in all Fred Meyer and QFC lots. EVgo has chargers at all shopping malls here and along the streets in Everett, Seattle and Tacoma. Seems to be much more flexible to have chargers everywhere, especially at places of eating, resting, etc. than the dedicated underground tanks for a gas station. You also got me thinking about this as I know I have a heavy foot and my wife always can tell when I have done more driving in the auto than she as we get much less rang on the gas tank. So I have to assume not everyone is going to be like the early adopters who try to eke out every mile and that the heavier foots like me will need to charge sooner than later. I can see chargers being put in at national parks, city, county and state parks so one can charge pretty much anywhere.

Wow, seems the Germans might need to be paying better attention not to Tesla, bit Hyundai. https://www.drive.com.au/news/luxury-buyers-interested-in-hyundai-ioniq-5/ Been seeing more and more news stories of Mercedes-Benz. BMW and Audio auto owners trading in for the Hyundai Ioniq-5. Currently the best near luxury EV on the market as they benchmarked the Tesla 3 and now stand on it's shoulders. Very cool, hope the US auto companies can then benchmark Hyundai and move ahead of them.

I am liking what I see so far but like all, very excited to see the full REVEAL and see how the overall shape / style works. As a 4 door luxury sedan, the rear door in that photo looks big so I am thinking executive driving with leg room to spare. ? Great body style from what I can see with the creases and lines without the ugly jellybean style and way better than Tesla style.

Erin Crossley, design director for the Cadillac CELESTIQ state the following: “Every CELESTIQ will be instantly identifiable as one of a kind, giving each client a personal connection to Cadillac’s newest flagship,” “With Cadillac reimagining the future of American luxury, we are entering an era of limitless possibilities and the future of design.” The goal by Cadillac is that the creative collaboration of each hand built CELESTIQ will evoke a personal connection with every Cadillac customer. Here we get to see one version of what a Totally Customizable American Luxury sedan is. Cadillac used to be the Standard of the World with a very customized experience in the way their autos were built for each owner. This hand-built luxury sedan is expected to show this again that GM is focusing on the ultra-quality of luxury. Cadillac has had many hits and misses and as one example, was very late to the performance luxury sedan segment with their V edition of cars and even later to the party for their V edition of SUV/CUVs. Cadillac has been teasing images of this ultra luxury hand built of global sourced parts auto as the ultimate standard of the world. Wife and I tried the impossible Whopper and found it to be impossible to finish eating. Not sure what people see in this terrible tasting fake meat sandwich. Pass, if I am going to eat meat, gonna eat meat. I have always tried the various meatless patties, hotdogs, etc. Not found a one worth spending additional money on or time to eat.
