  1. I was thinking... what about a BAS-based diesel, basically just for the generator setup that let contractors run their tools? (not sure the shutoff features would be worthwhile in a diesel) I really think a lot of people could love that feature (some surely already do - those that were able to get the 800-based BAS hybrids). The diesel appeals to those that really "use" their trucks, and the generator setup could too. Would make for one heckuva premium work truck.
  2. good to see the legit companies fighting back.
  3. But was there a recall on it?
  4. At least so far only on the experimental cars.
  5. You'd need to flush occasionally too, if you spouted as much crap as a typical 'yota car salesman. :AH-HA_wink:
  6. I guess I was under the impression that this was already going on. *shrug* Still cool.
  7. And that's propelling a truck/SUV, not a tin can.
  8. Frankly this is starting to sound less like "growing pains" and more like "corporate apathy."
  9. That's ok, I have plenty of them in my bucket o' rags!
  10. I can accept donations.
  11. I wouldn't make ya sleep in the garage, there's a nice guest room with a queen bed. You never know if someday GM may want to do some materials testing or work on alternative energy projects with INL. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. Frankly, I'm glad GM is "behind" on this. This would be ranked among the most STUPID things it could have been worrying about in the last 5 years. As others have said, this is more about bragging rights than real functionality. I could see GM doing this as an option in very-high-end Caddys just to appease those that have to have the highest number of (fill in the blank), but that's about it.
  13. Finally owning a house, it's time to set up the garage like I want. Pics: .jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> So, 2-car garage, extra deep on one side. Door on the right goes to the back yard, door on the left goes inside. I know I want to: -add insulation -generous amounts of pegboard -mount bench grinder & vice someplace -probably more lighting (though it is brighter than the pics make it seem) -rack for extra set of wheels (autox) -big air compressor -sink (pre-plumbed beside door in front of white car) -table or miter saw I'm expecting to decide to rebuild the work bench somewhat. It's very sturdy, but underneath is almost useless - no shelves or anything, just a board to make it hard to even put something big underneath. Uses for the garage: -parking for the wife (white car) -other half is for my car, or the suburban, whichever I want to park in it (probably usually the gold saturn, with the suburban sitting out on the curb) -car repair and project car tinkering -general tinkering -place to put yard work stuff until I can get something out back to store all that crap in So, any thoughts on things I should consider/be sure to include as I plan this out?
  14. "More" evidence? What was the first evidence? The craptacular statistical methods, the obvious bias, or the blatant assumptions? If CR is the most reliable source, then I'd better start selling dart boards with pictures of cars on them...
  15. Apparently I'm out of the loop... what's Hyundai's involvement with the car?
  16. pretty cool, thanks for sharing!
  17. I wouldn't mind seeing Chevy go this direction either - get a hip & trendy lineup going on with their small car lineup. As long as they don't water down the products from hip & trendy to cheap & tacky. The other plus that retro has is that it may appeal more to the older consumers (who are actually a large portion of consumers for the Scion segment it seems) more than hip & trendy. Really, retro done tastefully would *be* hip & trendy, not just a ripoff of an old vehicle. I guess I mostly just want to see Chevy put some REAL THOUGHT into their small cars, and not just throw something out there & say "it's cheap, so enough people will buy it... good enough."
  18. Hmmm... seems like Gore fits the "top" and "those that have the money" categories... It doesn't take much paying attention to see that he's a politician through and through. Add hypocrisy on top of that, and I see no reason to believe a word he says. If he'll own up to his own actions and how they affect climate change, maybe I'd listen to what he says a little more...
  19. automatic muscle car... lame.
  20. Pretty sure they mean no cable running from the handle/pedal to the brake caliper in the rear, but just a by-wire setup for it. I would think it may well have the auto-release like you're talking about, or it could easily be added for a later model year if they didn't think of it.
  21. I mostly like it.
  22. seems like I remember people saying that when the PT cruiser came out... and when the HHR came out...
