Welcome to Sketch Competition #29! Head Honchos at the Ren-Cen are spending many a sleepless nights looking at success of one diminutive little car and its variants. The car and its variants have caught the world raving about their design, quality and most importantly their price. Priced between $12,000 to $20,000 the vehicles have become bestsellers in lot of countries around the globe. GM wants to answer this car family and answer it right to claw back its market share and show its design renaissance. You are the newly appointed GM designer who has an impressive portfolio while finishing the design school. GM needs new ideas and you fit the bill. The car and its var…

Welcome to Sketch Competition #28! Times are changing, and GM is on a diet and shrinking fast. Three brands have been eliminated, and Pontiac seems to have found a dead end road being named a "niche brand" and only possessing mostly pathetic excuses for Pontiacs. Only one of these cars is available as RWD with a V8. The others are badge engineered junk from Chevrolet and Toyota. Let's make today both Pontiac's day and yours and create a real Pontiac. A niche car for a niche brand. Please design the best Pontiac in years in terms of design and powertrain. Be it a Trans Am, Firehawk, GTO, Banshee, Bonneville, or Solstice make sure this niche model has the ultimate se…

Welcome to Sketch Competition #27! Efficiency is the name, speed and handling is the game: will you step up to the plate? GM hit the nail on the head with the 2009 Cobalt SS Turbo, setting records on the Nurburgring and being named one of the top fun-factor cars on the market while retaining good gas mileage. However, it's time for a new era. One where GM's sport compact car doesn't just set performance records, but one that is exceptionally beautiful and high quality on the inside and out. Should you accept, your task will be to design GM's next high-revving Sport Compact coupe from Chevy, Pontiac, or Saturn. FWD, AWD, or RWD, you tell us. However, this car should…

Welcome to Sketch Competition #26! With all the pain and agony that everyone, especially GM, is going through in the industry right now, everybody needs that one vehicle to bring their name to the top, a savior so to speak. GM's got rumors of a couple brands being on the chopping block or for sale and the whole industry is in for a change soon due to CAFE. However, is it an economical car that would bring GM's most lacking brands to the top? Maybe, but not necessarily in an industry like today's, where every car must have the fit and finish of a Cadillac and looks that stand out from the crowd. Should you accept, your task will be to design the savior car to any GM…

Welcome to Sketch Competition #25! Imagine what it would be like if Pontiac were a little bit different; if it were placed much further upscale and sold in much smaller numbers. It would still be the sporty, muscular, sexy Pontiac that we know and love, but there would be more mystique to owning one. You know.. like a Ferrari. Ferrari basically targets the same crowd, just much further up the economic food chain. So what would a Pontiac be like if it were to sell for $200,000? What would it look like, what would it be called, what would power it? Should you accept, your task will be to design Pontiac's answer to the Ferrari F430. Obviously this is just a dream and …

Welcome to Sketch Competition #24! A couple years back when the G5 debuted, we believed it to be a stopgap to fill the spot between Pontiac's Sunfire and a new RWD entry-level vehicle. Well, the time to replace this vehicle is coming up quickly, but time is changing the industry even quicker as CAFE and the government rule automakers' say in what they produce. Will the G5 remain the same size? Will it become more aerodynamic? Will it even be RWD in its next generation? Why don't you give us an idea of what we could expect in a few more years. Should you accept, your task will be to design a next generation Pontiac G5. Right now all we know is that the industry is …

Welcome to Sketch Competition #23! While we know that the Corvette is legendary, there is and always has been the possibility of making another vehicle off of the Corvette platform. Cadillac jumped on board to use this platform for the XLR a few years back, but not many rumors are flowing regarding the XLR's existence past the current generation. After the debut of the next-generation Corvette, who knows if it will be accompanied by a sister car? Should you accept, your task will be to design a 2012 Corvette-based sportscar. It doesn't matter if you badge it a Cadillac, Pontiac, Saturn, Buick, or anything else as long as it is not a Chevrolet. Currently, rumors …

Welcome to Sketch Competition #22! While its been confirmed that we'll see another version of the Cobalt in 2010, the future of its HHR companion isn't so cut-and-dried. The popular retro-influenced wagon has seen several variations already in its lifetime, including a panel wagon and the hot upcoming SS and we think its sales will certainly justify its continutation. Therefore, the largest problem with the HHR is where does it go from here. Retro is constantly said to be hard to update and it seems the only way that retro has survived as been to just wither on the vine (PT, Beetle). Time to prove them wrong. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to design the…

Here's a quick sketch I did at lunch with an idea for a more youthfull approach. Chevy needs to go after Scion and this could be the vehicle for it, so streamline the "retro" and make it more focused...creat more desire for it with mega personalization parts.
